Blessings brothers, I’m currently discerning a vocation with the sisters at Glencairn Abbey here in Ireland and just returned from a few days stay there to help discern my call and yes I felt at home there and have found my purpose in life with the Cistercians, not only did I find the presence of God within the community but also the wonderful sense of humour like yourselves, one of the sisters gave me a book to take home on loan called “Finding Sanctuary” by the Abbott in Worth and laughing away to myself here as since I’ve returned home, I’ve been bombarded with so much interruptions and distractions that finding this sanctuary is in itself an almighty quest 😂

Brothers.. that was hilarious... as someone who spent some time in a Monastery and religious life... I totally got all those great jokes.. I was doubled over laughing in a few of those scenes. Spot on.. thanks for the great laugh and for your vocations!

I am discerning a call to the monastic life. I have done a little research to find out which order I am more suited to. I am leaning towards the Cistercians, but I still would like to know more about them and specifically about your order. Thanks Father.

Indeed I hadn't expected a reply, it's quite kind of you! Your church is beautiful, were I to be in Austria anytime soon I certainly would. I am Anglican, yet it seems we all generally believe in the important bits, don't we :)
You all sound great by the way, I imagine the Bach Weihnachtsoratorium would take well to that 'room' in a few months (hint).
God bless you also my friend,

    Worship . . .
Lite two candles and sweet incense . . .
In Jesus name I Create a Sacred Space . . .a Holy place to Worship the Lord . . .
    ....
O Lord, hear my prayers, and let my cry come unto thee . . .O Lord God Almighty, who has reigned before the beginning of the Ages, and who by thine infinite wisdom, hast created the heavens, the earth, and the sea, and all thats in them is, all that is visible, and all that is invisible by a single word; I praise thee, I bless thee, I adore, thee, I glorify, thee, and I pray thee now at the present time to be merciful unto me, a miserable sinner, for I am the Work of Thine Hands . . .
    . . .
Gracious God, we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done and by what we have left undone. Forgive us and give us strength to turn from sin and to serve you in newness of life . . .
    . . .
Save me, and direct me by Thy Holy Name, Thou to Whom nothing is difficult, nothing is impossible, and deliver me from the night of mine ignorance, and enable me to go forth there from. Enlighten me with spark of Thine Infinite Wisdom. Take away from my senses the desire of my flesh, that I can walk up right before your divine presents . . .
    . . .
O God the father, All Powerful and All Merciful, Who hast created all things, Who knowest and conceivest them universally, and to Whom nothing is hidden, nothing is impossible; I entreat Thy Grace for me and Thy servants, the Brothers and Sisters of this Order . . .Come Lord and make us Soul Winners, Help us now to Create a proper Space a Holy Place that we can worship you our Lord . . .in the Mighty and Wonderful name Jesus the Christ!
    . . .
When we enter here in with all humility, let God the Almighty One enter into this Circle, by the entrance of an eternal happiness, of Divine prosperity, of a perfect joy, of an abundant charity, and of an eternal salutation . . .O Lord our God Sanctify our humble entery here in; Thou the Blessed and Holy One of the Eternal! Ages . . .in the Blessed name of Jesus the Christ . . .
    . . .
O Lord God, All Powerful and All Merciful, Thou who desirest not the death of a sinner, but rather that he may turn from his wickedness and live: Give and grant unto us thy grace, by blessing and consecrating this Sacred Space . . . I beseeh Thee, O Lord God, the All Powerful and the All Merciful, that Thou wilt design to bless this Circle, and all those who are there in, in the Blessed and Mighty name of Jesus the Christ . . .
    . . .
    Amen!
.Hail Jesus the Christ, God Son, my Savior, Have Mercy Upon me a Sinner!
    I Glorify you God . . .only you I worship . . .!
THERE IS GO OTHER God but Jehovah . . .
King of Kings and Lord of Lords . . .
There is no other name where for you much be Saved . . .Jesus the Christ, Logos of God! Amen . . .
    ...
All... to be, to exist, to come to pass!
    ...
The Minister ask some one to open with a prayer from the Heart without any written litany . . .
At this time spontaneous worship takes place. Everyone worshipping out loud from the heart in charismatic release, arms and hands up lifted in a sign of surrender. Singing in the Spirit taking place. Everyone surrendering to the Spirit of God. This time of worship should not be rushed, or hurried . . .there could be a tongue and interpretation, a prophecy.
    MINISTER . . .Friar
    Hear the good news:
Christ died for us while we were yet sinners; that proves God's love towards us. In the name of Jesus the Christ and his shed blood, you are forgiven!
    All . . .Brothers
IN the name of Jesus the Christ and his shed blood, we are forgiven! Glory to God. Amen
    Minister . . .Friar
LET'S us offer one another signs of reconciliation and love.
Everyone shakes hands and greets each other.
    Minister. . . .Friar
All honor and glory is yours, almighty God now and forever.
    All . . .Brothers
    Amen!
    Minister . . .Friar
    The Lord be with you.
    All . . .Brothers
    And also with you.
    Minister. . . .Friar
    Lift up your hearts.
    All . . .Brothers
We lift them up to the Lord.
    Minister . . .Friar
Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
    All . . .Brothers
It's is right to give our thanks and praise.
    Minister. . .Friar
And so, with your people on earth and all the company of heaven we praise your name.
    All . . .Brothers
Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.
    Minister. . . .Friar
And so, in remembrance of these your mighty acts in Jesus the Christ, we offer our self's as holy and living sacrifice, in union with Christ's offering for us, as we proclaim the mystery of faith.
    All...Brothers
Christ had died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again!
    Minister. . . .Friar
All honor and glory is yours, almighty God now and forever.
    All . . .Brothers
    Amen, Amen, Amen . . .
" Friars Eu·cha·rist". . .come and eat the Masters calling...
    Exodus 12:13 and 21-22
    13. The Blood will be a sign for you on the house where you are; and when I see the blood I will pass over you.
    21. Then Moses summoned all the elders of Israel and said to them, "Go at once and select the animals for your families and slaughter the Passover Lamb. 22. Take a bunch of hyssop, dip it into the blood in the basin and put some of the blood on the top and on both sides of the doorframe.
    All . . .
    Hebrews 9:22
    22. In fact, the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and with out the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sin.
    Minister. . .
    1 Corinthians 11:23-25
The Minister picks up the paten with the Bread saying...
    23. The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said.
"This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me"
The paten is pass clockwise round the circle. Each person brakes off a piece of the bread, eating it in remembrance of what Christ did for them on the cross.
The Minister picks up the Chalice and says...
" This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me."
The Chalice is passed clockwise round the circle each person drinking from it in remembrance of the shed blood of Christ.
Once again the Chalice and Paten are back on the altar spontaneous praise and worship takes place thanking the Lord for his shed blood and the forgiveness of there sin(s).
This part of the Eu·cha·rist is not rushed, a time of just being still takes place. . .
A tongue and interpretation or prophecy could happen ...we want to be open to the Holy Spirit. So we at times just wait on the Lord.

      It was Saint Paul's Priory.
You should go to Saint Joephes if you are a guy.
I personally recommend Weston Priory in Weston, Vermont
I live about 5 hours from there and I know all the brothers.
It is beautiful, They are always looking for a new person.
It's in the Green Mountains of Vermont.

Could I come for three months ? Might help me 'discern' this notion of 'vocation' people have been telling me I am supposed to have since about the age of five. That was forty six years ago and they are still saying such things. Started a little booklet tonight, "Thoughts on solitude" by Thomas Merton. I am not sure I could handle those 'angels' singing out of tune though. ;-) Help ?

Funny, eccentric characters (monks). On a serious note, there is only one good reason to present oneself at the monastery door: Jesus of Nazareth, the Love of any life, has singled you out, and you have responded to him. St. Bernard of Clairvaux would have criticized this video because nowhere is the Name of Jesus displayed, or for that matter, mentioned. Shame.

You can tell this isn’t Roman Catholic by the fact the reasons given are worldly, secular and exclude God. The true reasons to become a monk are - God has called you , you can obtain salvation of your with greater assistance , to serve the church , bring the reign of Christ the King quickly to the world, aid the triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary and you can help you family become holy

very interesting indeed. I suspect the Double entendre has more truth in it than one would want to admit. This looks all too lost in monastic symbolisims and comfortable distraction to have any meaningful impact in Christ's Body. The general attraction I suppose is what one would call showmanship. ;)

So this is how Cistercian monks wish to be portrayed by their own will?. This is how they interpret the word of God, the rule and writings of Sct. Benedict and Sct. Augustine?.
