Blessings brothers, I’m currently discerning a vocation with the sisters at Glencairn Abbey here in Ireland and just returned from a few days stay there to help discern my call and yes I felt at home there and have found my purpose in life with the Cistercians, not only did I find the presence of God within the community but also the wonderful sense of humour like yourselves, one of the sisters gave me a book to take home on loan called “Finding Sanctuary” by the Abbott in Worth and laughing away to myself here as since I’ve returned home, I’ve been bombarded with so much interruptions and distractions that finding this sanctuary is in itself an almighty quest 😂
Brothers.. that was hilarious... as someone who spent some time in a Monastery and religious life... I totally got all those great jokes.. I was doubled over laughing in a few of those scenes. Spot on.. thanks for the great laugh and for your vocations!
As someone who went to seminary with Benedictine instructors, can totally relate to the awesome humor here. Most especially the last one, I died laughing :)
I am discerning a call to the monastic life. I have done a little research to find out which order I am more suited to. I am leaning towards the Cistercians, but I still would like to know more about them and specifically about your order. Thanks Father.
Indeed I hadn't expected a reply, it's quite kind of you! Your church is beautiful, were I to be in Austria anytime soon I certainly would. I am Anglican, yet it seems we all generally believe in the important bits, don't we :) You all sound great by the way, I imagine the Bach Weihnachtsoratorium would take well to that 'room' in a few months (hint). God bless you also my friend, -kotetsu-

It was Saint Paul's Priory. You should go to Saint Joephes if you are a guy. I personally recommend Weston Priory in Weston, Vermont I live about 5 hours from there and I know all the brothers. It is beautiful, They are always looking for a new person. It's in the Green Mountains of Vermont. Check out Weston Priory.org
Could I come for three months ? Might help me 'discern' this notion of 'vocation' people have been telling me I am supposed to have since about the age of five. That was forty six years ago and they are still saying such things. Started a little booklet tonight, "Thoughts on solitude" by Thomas Merton. I am not sure I could handle those 'angels' singing out of tune though. ;-) Help ?
I want this life. I'm certain I will be rejected. But I was called to this when I was about 15. I could find no way to get in as I am not Catholic and don't want to be. I just want to do the work of God.
If God tells me to stay.... may I??? I actually already know God has called me, sooo... if man (the oder) will allow me to take such a Solemn Vow and Serve God, Pray to God and labour quietly in God's honor thru Jesus, I'm ready, now!!! Praise be to God
What does St. Tersea of Jesus say about Monastics with sad and sullen looks on their faces? This Woman made Joyful noises to the Lord on occassions. These Monks are a riot! LOL!
Well done guys and what a hoot watching you. I enjoyed it very much. When you are ready come over to the Franciscan way of life. It is more your style I think. Active. hahahahha
You ever spent time with 'real Cistercians' O.C.S.O. ? As Teresa of Avila said, "God preserve us from sour faced saints." A sense of humour - 'clowning around' is essential to a healthy spirituality. That phone looks ancient. The ones I've known had the latest gadgetry.
Funny, eccentric characters (monks). On a serious note, there is only one good reason to present oneself at the monastery door: Jesus of Nazareth, the Love of any life, has singled you out, and you have responded to him. St. Bernard of Clairvaux would have criticized this video because nowhere is the Name of Jesus displayed, or for that matter, mentioned. Shame.
You can tell this isn’t Roman Catholic by the fact the reasons given are worldly, secular and exclude God. The true reasons to become a monk are - God has called you , you can obtain salvation of your with greater assistance , to serve the church , bring the reign of Christ the King quickly to the world, aid the triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary and you can help you family become holy
very interesting indeed. I suspect the Double entendre has more truth in it than one would want to admit. This looks all too lost in monastic symbolisims and comfortable distraction to have any meaningful impact in Christ's Body. The general attraction I suppose is what one would call showmanship. ;) ETHOMOFACTUSEST.
So this is how Cistercian monks wish to be portrayed by their own will?. This is how they interpret the word of God, the rule and writings of Sct. Benedict and Sct. Augustine?. Glad to see you Brothers have a sense of humor. May GOD Bless you and your monastery.
Agreed. "Pride makes us artificial and humility makes us real" -- Thomas Merton. Thanks for being real, dear monks!

Absolutely hilarious. Well done, gentlemen. Christ, no doubt, had a sense of humor also.
kirk Zaro I believe he does
If this is how riotous monastic life is, I'd join them anytime anywhere.
This was fantastic and very funny. Thank you very much for this!
As someone who went to seminary with Benedictine instructors, can totally relate to the awesome humor here. Most especially the last one, I died laughing :)
:) Thank you for the comic relief! :)
That was rather funny! :) God bless!
Thanks this is wonderful and a great gift 🎁 keep smiling
Thank you very much for the video, certainly put a smile on my face now!
How much is food and lodging if I come to stay at your place for a few months?
I am discerning a call to the monastic life. I have done a little research to find out which order I am more suited to. I am leaning towards the Cistercians, but I still would like to know more about them and specifically about your order. Thanks Father.

Glad to know these monks have a good sense of humour! :-)
It seems some people in here are taking this video too seriously... it was very funny, thank you
I want more
I need to go hang out in that church with those guys sometime....
I enjoyed that very much :) God bless you brothers!
Can anyone become a trappist monk? Or is there something you need to do first before you qualify to enter the monastery?

Nice. Hugs from Colombia!
I would love to become a monk, but nobody seems to know where to start
Go to a monastery for a retreat
I flew all the way to Minnesota for my first retreat.
Lorrie MacGregor where in Minnesota was your retreat? I am from MN and still live here.
It was Saint Paul's Priory.
You should go to Saint Joephes if you are a guy.
I personally recommend Weston Priory in Weston, Vermont
I live about 5 hours from there and I know all the brothers.

I m more alive then ever, but yeah, serious on St Teresa of Avila. Please read her Collected Works.

I’d give up😃
Austrian humour.
😂😂😂
Comedic dreck. IMO, the love for Jesus God Almighty should be the overwhelming reason to become a monk.
