Hi Gigi! Thanks for all the beauty and inspiration your designs bring to our stitching community! I'm already thinking about what I will choose next... Happy Crafting! -Anna
Hello beautuful ladies! Thank you for mentioning my start on "Heaven and Nature Sings". I am honored! I enjoy very much your flosstube, you are brilliant. Joy and Peace to the world & Happy Stitching all the things!
Hi! Haha - I just saw on your Instagram that you "Specialize in having fun"! Happy to be in the stitch-y world with you. I'm looking forward to taking my "And Heaven and Nature Sing" out of the drawer and putting some stitches in (started last December). Happy Crafting! -Anna
@@we.are.curiouscrafters Hi Anna! This is my hippie heritage signature. It is a quote from Take It As It Comes. As usual, such FUN. You both make my day each time you post another video. I usually watch it several times. It's like having two friends come for a visit. No one part is better than another. It's all enjoyable. All your projects are coming along. Which is more then I can say for mine. We had family come from Maryland for several days which was so wonderful. I Enjoyed every minute. Keep up the good work. Carolyn, have a great Birthday 🎂🎈. I'm sure you are both looking forward to your Thanksgiving break from school. You have my curiosity anxiously waiting to see these special Christmas trees. Until next time, happy stitching. Love ya , Donna
Thanks for your kind words, Donna! Carolyn and I certainly have fun while we film! We'll have houses full of extended family next week, and we can't wait! Probably not a lot of stitching - haha! Happy Crafting! -Anna
I LOVE the two of you and find you such a comfort to watch and see what you are doing!! The two of you are so special, to be such good friends and sisters . Thank you for Being teachers, Society needs you. Happy Stitching with blessings~~~
Thanks for this warm and encouraging message, Melody. Carolyn and I are both starting our vacation week - lots of big family fun ahead (and maybe some stitching?)! Happy Crafting! -Anna
You ladies just make me smile! I so appreciate your positivity and excitement about your stitching. It’s so infectious! I have 4 sisters and none of them cross-stitch. It must be awesome getting to share your passion with each other. Well, I have you two!! Blessings and thanks for sharing❤️Diana
Loved this episode made my heart happy ♥️🥰 Thank you both for always lifting everyone up such a beautiful thing to do much appreciated….Kindness does matter. gorgeous stitching, Carolyn really liked the socks your making great color! Can’t wait till one day I can say I will join the two of you in a SAL ….but will have to wait for now another surgery in Dec. so Feb…🤞 take good care, 🤗🤗♥️♥️
How I love your plans (and giggles) for starting the North Pole chart together. And I cannot wait to see these Christmas trees of yours. A Ha Ha, I love that gourd. I think this was one of my favorite episodes ever. It just made me feel happy. 😍
So wonderful to hear you enjoyed this video, Alison! Carolyn and I are savoring the end of the week with family. And then...Christmas trees and "North Pole"! Happy Crafting! -Anna
So great to see all of your projects!! I love your stitching and videos, look forward to them so much! Pretty bird is fabulous, on my list to purchase!
Carolyn told me she can't stop stitching "Pretty Bird" - looking forward to seeing it when we film this weekend! I've been sidetracked with some seasonal stitching. Happy Crafting, Dawn! -Anna
Great video ladies! Carolyn, love your Rev piece!! I felt the same way about the funky doodas, but I love what you said about twirling leaves, so when I stitch this piece, I will keep that in mind for whatever I decide to sub those doodas with. Anna, that turkey tray is fabulous! Such a great find!! After hearing you giddy-talk about North Pole, I think I need to kit that up and start on St Nicholas Day (which I didn’t realize was on the 6th). Have a wonder two weeks of stitching and life! ❤
Oh, yes! We'd love it if you join in the fun of stitching "North Pole"! How's "Santa Claus Land" looking? I've never seen that pattern and think it's wonderful! Happy Crafting, Michelle! -Anna
As soon as this video started my first thought was “the fabric of Anna’s top reminds me of Fruits of Plenty - they haven’t shown those in awhile” and suddenly it was a whole topic of conversation! On the project that Anna was considering truncating and not doing the mirror image other side (sorry don’t remember the pattern name) if Carolyn also liked it enough to buy the pattern maybe she could stitch the other side to finish it. You would have to work out custody rights for the final project but I’m sure you two could handle it. Finally, your “encouragement” is the reason Pretty Bird is now part of my collection. I’m trying to hold off on starting until next year but your making it hard!
Haha - too funny! I'll be sure Carolyn sees this idea about "Brick House Sampler"! :) I can almost guarantee you that "Pretty Bird" is going to be a joy to stitch, when the time is right. Happy Crafting! -Anna
I love all your projects - Pretty Bird in particular - the colors are so wonderful, I’m very tempted to get that chart, but I have so many other projects in my queue. About back stitching - I think that Brenda Gervais may be the only designer who differentiates between back stitches and straight stitches (where you’re just going from one point to another with a long thread). With other designers, I think you can just make your own judgement call. I have never seen a black squirrel in Northern California. I’ll have to be on the lookout for them. I have noticed that the squirrels near my daughter’s house in San Rafael are redder and much fluffier than our gray and black ones here in Virginia. Crafting the day before Thanksgiving sounds like a wonderful idea. Have a happy Thanksgiving with all your families. And I can’t wait to see the special Christmas trees!
Thanks for the information about back stitches and straight stitches, Trudy! I'm surprised you haven't seen black squirrels out here! I just assumed they were everywhere in this region. And it's funny, I only remember seeing grey ones growing up in Virginia. Wishing you a Happy Thanksgiving, too. And of course wishing you Happy Crafting! -Anna
Love your style of cross-stitch, I was inspired to stitch Byron Blackbird after i saw some of your stitching . Then I saw your Pretty Bird and loved that too. I love this style so i think I’m an Artys Housewife fan now too. Thanks for the inspiration .
I have started North Pole. I have stitched the entire mound of snow, some of the trees, started the left border and some of the boots. It is so fun. It is a fun stitch. I am using the DMC conversion and it is really beautiful so far. I don't stitch with silks. Backstitch is every single stitch; long stitch is on stitch that covers more stitches.
Yay! I'm so happy to hear how much fun you're having with "North Pole"! Just found you post on Instagram! Thanks for the information about backstitch and long stitch, Sandi. Happy Crafting! -Anna
I so enjoy spending time with you. All your stitching looks fantastic. On the Rev, those symbols do look like swastikas, I thought that before you said anything. I'm sure you can work something out so the pattern looks perfect. That cat is just a riot, so cute. As to backstitching, do whatever feels right for you and the pattern, and it can vary within a pattern. Take care, and happy stitching, Arleen
Carolyn just finished her piece today, but I haven't seen what she chose to do for the "doo-dads" yet! Thanks for the information about backstitching, Arleen, and Happy Crafting! -Anna
I love how you used Red Cedar Linen for the Kathy Barrick White Moth - if you don’t mind I may use your inspiration for that project. Thanks for sharing. I also love that Hart and Hand “Pink” Wee Santa - it’s so unique.
I'm certain Carolyn would be very happy for you to use her piece as inspiration - have fun! I've worked a little more on the Wee Santa this week! Happy Crafting, Peg! -Anna
Hello! Oh Caroline. I wished I had seen your video 2 days ago. My corners would not have been so bulky on my exchange ornament that is nearly finished! But I will definitely use your advice on next finish! Your shawl is a knockout! I love both your Pretty Birds. Anna , I really like your Brick House. Your blouse is lovely! Have a great stitchy week ahead! Cheers! 🧑🏻🦰🇨🇦
I'm curious to try Carolyn's corner technique, too! Next time! Carolyn and I were able to stitch together for bit after school yesterday - a great way to start the weekend. Happy Crafting, Marilyn! -Anna
I am thinking there needs to be an Artsy Housewife fan club…I want to get every pattern. Question..for the last video of 2023, would you consider doing a montage of your catwalks? They are so much fun and distinctively you. One more edit before the end…I am including how I get good corners on my next flosstube also, I did round ornaments last time. Our approach is similar but not identical.
How lucky are we that there are so many talented designers in the stitching community?! I'll have to get Carolyn on a montage - she's our editor. Looking forward to checking out your technique for turning corners. Happy Crafting! -Anna
Haha! Yes, highly technical! Carolyn also has a favorite phrase to describe a day with no responsibilities - a Zip-Doo-Dah day! Happy Crafting, Anne! -Anna
Woohoo! Just looked up "Calico Kitty" - you're going to get some cool variegation on Santa's coat! I loved your thread choice for "Quaker Block Print" too! Happy Crafting, Teresa! -Anna
I felt the same way about what looked like swasticas on the Rev. I turned some around to be right-facing and made others into curves. Look at Wikipedia to see the history on the symbol. Interesting stuff.
On linen I always start to the Left of the Vertical thread, just think SW corner. I don't like to lace, but folding in the fabric seems like a good idea to remove bulk. I use small stainless steel pins when I can on foam core board on the sides to keep them from moving, it assists me a lot in Lacing.
You two are so inspiring! I have the North Pole pattern but missed that Olivia had floss packs. I’ll have to check in with her. Maybe St. Nicholas Day would be a good day to start that…if you can wait that long!!!
I’m so interested in the knitted shawl you featured - “Roots of Life?” I tried to google the pattern, but I couldn’t find it. Can you help please? Thanks for your RUclips. Love your format, your projects, and the warmth you share for each other and teaching. ❤
Hi PJ! The shawl pattern is Roots of Light designed by Kristen Kapur. I used the called for yarn (in different colors) and absolutely love this shawl. Here is the Ravelry link: www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/roots-of-light Thank you for joining us on our crafting journey and for your kind comment! Happy Crafting, Carolyn
Kathy Barrick's North Pole is now on my list! You enablers you! But I just started a new full coverage piece - Klimt Golden Tears. So ...... we'll see As far as I understand copyright wouldn't apply to an old (music is 75 years I think). If you look at Heaven and Earth Designs there are scads and scads of old artworks as full coverage cross stitches
Hello, I’ve really been enjoying your videos. You have such a variety of projects & they’re all beautiful. The shawl is stunning!!! You never mentioned( at least I could not hear) the name of the sampler that you may or may not finish. It’s beautiful and I do not recognize that pattern. Would you let me know the name of the sampler. Thank you, Gisela
The symbol over the cat and the one near his shoulder (from what I can see of the picture) do look like a swastika. The others spin the opposite direction and look like whirligigs - or snow. It's the direction of those that make all the difference to me. You could even make up your own 'snow' and it would be great! Thanks for the great video! I'll be in your state - not far from you (Emeryville) in a few weeks...any new shops I need to explore while there? (I know of Needle in a Haystack.) Thanks!
Carolyn has finished the piece, but I don't know how yet! Can't wait to see when we film next weekend! Have a glorious time in California. You could consider going to Needlepoint Inc. in San Fransisco to see the walls of silk. It's close to the Ferry Building, which is a great place to stroll. Happy Crafting! -Anna
