Nice. We have a similar midge in Southern Utah lowland reservoirs. In fall pre-ice up the trout are loaded with these. and its a go to pattern in the shallows for the afternoon feed. The trout come in and swarm to scour the shallows over the mud flats where the diptera hatch. Excellent take Juan on the thread body with a colored marker thread back. Very nice indeed.
Nice fly. Luckily I already had that Semperfli primrose thread and the rest of the ingredients. I'll try this out on the Madison River in Montana this year--along with your Money Midge.
Yeah man. Check on Amazon. And buy 2 because just like anything else, some markers have better ink than others. I had two makers with completely different ink colors.
Juan another great pattern. Glad I bought the slim rib. Are you bringing some to the fly show on Jan 4 th? I hope so I would like to buy some more. Jerry M. Glad you are videoing again.
Here in Europe, fishing with midges fishing are not so common like in your countries. No tailwaters here... But i will tie some and try it . Thank's for sharing!
? my fly specific marker has been bleeding bit more into the thread than ideal, is there a workaround to avoid that? Is it more the type of thread I'm using? I was thinking of of doing a uv coat first, but will that stay or whipe off in the water? Side note Ill be in the Jaun Thursday - Sunday if i see yah I will chuck a beer to you from the boat! Thanks for all the content!
It’s possible your thread is soaking it in too much. Or possibly you may be using the wrong marker? Maybe a bit too heavy handed?? Play around with some to see what works and what doesn’t
I guess you could but I’ve never done that and probably never will. I don’t use additional weight on my flies when they are this small and this thin. It bulks them up too much for me. I wouldn’t but that’s just me.

Will be looking for the Bic markers today. I have been using another brand and have had the bleeding issues you mentioned. Thank you!

Great pattern I tied up a few of these little things I fly fish in Utah so this should be pretty good on small streams
Boa noite muito bom qual size desse anzol ficarei grato pela resposta
That's probably a size 20 hook in the vise and the video. I tie them in size 18-22. Thanks!

Could I add some small diameter lead wire to weight it? Thanks!!

@@HopperJuan ok. I agree with ya. Was just curious. Thanks!!
How do I get some of this slim rib?
Direct from me.
the heads on them are slightly darker than the body also.
Yep, you can darken the head a little bit if you want to.
