I drove a M 543 diesel wrecker in Vietnam for my tour of duty of one year every day. I drove on convoys, worked at the ammo dump , went out on special assignments working on vehicles in the field and base camp. I have plenty of stories if anybody is interested of being a draftee and the only experience was two months of AIT at Aberdeen proving grounds in Maryland , and being nineteen years of age.
That's a nice wrecker! Those gasser 5-tons have quite a sound to them. Sounds like the engine's really getting lugged when working the crane though. Is that just how it's supposed to go or was it not being run up to speed for the hydraulics demo?

My father in law just passed away a few weeks ago. He drove an M62 in Korea in the late 50's. Thanks for posting this.
