For those who are looking for solution to the same problem, but Canon MP280: To enter Service Mode 1. Turn off the printer 2. Hold the Red Triangle Button 3. Hold the Power Button 4. Release the Red Triangle after 5-6 seconds 5. While still holding the Power Button press the Red Triangle 6 (SIX!) times, here it is different from the older models 6. Release the Power Button and the printer will go into service mode (after a little warmup the power button LED will be on, but nothing else) Search for "Service tool v340", download it, and the program has 'Ink Absorber Counter' option that you can set to 0%.
Actually works perfect, no fuss right down to business. Good job finding that crazy button combination.
