Good to see Daniel still with the band. Such an incredible drummer I played a handful of shows with 3 Doors Down in the early 2000's when he was their drummer. Such a nice guy. His nightly drum solos were a treat. I used to take his drum heads out of the trash can when his tech would change them out. I was broke and the heads were just about perfect. We were playing for the troops back then. Good times.
i've never been a huge nickleback fan, but always took notice of his drumming, especially on 'far away' which is a song i loved. Very powerful and just seemed like a perfect pocket drummer. Served the song 100%.
Daniel is amazing, I remember seeing him for 3DD too, then found David Martone because of him. When he went to Nickelback it was an exciting change as I already listened to them. But nothing compares too seeing Daniel with Dave Martone live in small venues (even after Nickelback), both guys are just top of their class. Was lucky enough to purchase the snare from the kit f Long and McQuade supplied for a show and is my favorite, daily snare for like 15ish years.
He`s so still in the band, when he had problems with his hands and wanted to quit, Chad told him he`ll help find all the doctors everything he needs he won`t let him quit. He`s their friend and he needs to be in the band.
I like how these guys are chill (and rich) as hell and don’t let the hate get them down. They produced some absolute bangers for a kid in middle school in the mid 2000s.

IDK if this is true or not but I heard a rumor from a friend that lot of “Butt Rock” Bands didn’t take themselves seriously and made a lot of their songs “intentionally bad” because they knew that they weren’t gonna live up to “The Big 4” Seattle Grunge bands (along with some of the Non Seattle ones like STP, Smashing Pumpkins etc…) so they decided to play “snarky” music that was not necessarily deep in meaning but were “Fun to listen to at like parties/events and stuff” That’s why I’ve always considered bands like Nickelback, Creed, Staind, Puddle of Mudd, 3 Doors Down, Seether, Theory of a Deadman, Three Days Grace, Hinder etc… to be “Party Rock”. Nickelback is 🔥🤟 unlike most bands ,they have songs that last forever. Everyone sings along when they come on and in some ways the songs hit us in different ways
One of my favourite bands of all time. Incredible live shows, insane production quality, all amazing musicians/songwriters, and just very down to earth dudes. The State, Silver Side Up and The Long Road are some of the best rock albums of the past 30 years. Get Rollin’ is great too! 🤘

I wasn't the biggest Nickelback fan, but they were overhated because they were mainstream. A lot of rock fans looked at them as sellouts. Reality is a lot of bands from that generation sold out. Maroon 5, Good Charlotte, Fall Out Boy, Coldplay. I feel like given the state of music (particularly rock), they're looked at more fondly.
People can talk shit about how they didn’t try anything new but who cares? The music is timeless and can still be listened to years later. Meanwhile, other songs for that era suck now

Love Nickelback. I`ve seen them 6 times this tour, one in Montreal last year and 5 times during the last three weeks. First day back at work I have Nickelback withdrawals.
I'll never forget when the video for How You Remind me came out. I was staying up late, drinking bourbon and in a somewhat bad place mentally. I cried alone watching it. It was tough times for me at the time and the depression was strong. Soon after, I was picking my daughter up for weekend visitation (thus why I was in depression...divorce) and she brought a friend with her. They were maybe 12-13 and they were in the back seat, totally dissing Nickelback and that video. I didn't get it then, and I dont get the hate since. I lost interest in Nickelback, like with most bands, when they got money and fame and the albums got more and more "produced" and commercial sounding. I may go and take a listen to some of the later stuff and see if there is anything that appeals to my hard rock self. I still carry some of the old songs in my life mix, refined over 30 years of the best of the best for me. I liked these guys in this interview. Seem like real good dudes.

I always hold people accountable when they trash Nickleback. They’re excuse is usually, “all their songs sound the same”. Oh you mean they have their own sound, like AC/DC does or Def Lep? Burn it to the ground is one of the ultimate kickass tunes of all time.
0:31 before that song came out they had a song leader of men and I believe they did a acoustic version for WAAF and they explained that the song was about mushrooms that was a song that I would listen for and try to record it on a tape there were certain song for certain bands that came into WAAF that I really wanted a copy of the song like Caroline's spine Sullivan boys acoustic version and a bunch of other bands that I can't really remember but those are the two that I would remember and I was like damn I really want the song
Been listening FOREVER to you guys! And, my 25 and 21 yr olds are all about this band. I told em' when they got older...."okay, we're done with camping songs....we're listening to mom's music now 😆😁. What could they do, i was their taxi driver😁! We all love you guys!
What a great interview love Nickleback and right on Ryan's child was born in the same year as my son. I will tour the world with my band i will make it happen.
A few of their songs were just played ad nauseum to death. Like you had no choice but to resent them after a while. But when you take a step back it's obvious why they were popular.
Nickelback was kind of the bridge when Creed fell apart, Foo was really coming into their own and for some strange reason Pearl Jam was 100% different than the first 3 albums they put out. Nothing wrong with sounding the same... if its not broke dont fix it.
@@browserboy1984 I was rolling my eyes at your use of “normie”, confirming your opinion as unqualified and your status as a 🛠️. My statement is objectively quantifiable, yours is clearly biased by fanaticism.
Still listen to nickel back. They are literally my teen years. My Dad past a couple years back and I always laugh when I played “how you remind me” and my Dad got mad and said, “what the hell does he know about living like a black man!?”. I had to calmly say no dad “ the lyrics are tired of living like a BLIND MAN. 😂😂😂😂
Saw them play back in 1997 at the SAIT campus, and it was an amazing show! The reason (at least around Calgary, as it was repeated on the radio) that people got a hate on for nickleback is that apparently Chad likened making a song to making a burger. The connotation is that you just keep doing the same process over and over again with no creativity. Add that to the other similar bands that came out "theory of a nickleback" at the time and it got played out pretty quick.
All of the late glam metal bands fell victim to grunge, but Winger was bashed harder than most. Total b ullshit, considering Prof. Morgenstein is one of the best musicians ever to play in a rock band.
I'm not gonna be fake and say I never hopped on the hate bandwagon. I used to listen to them all the time when I was a little kid but growing up in a small town in Texas, everyone and their mom listened to nickleback and various stadium country artists. As I got into my teens I really just hated hearing them on the radio and at friends houses lol. Now that I'm in my late 20s with wife and kid I realize I was just following people and needed to think for myself. I've slowly got back into the stuff I used to listen to when I didn't care about the opinions of others
Still one of my favourite bands. The only reason I did not listen to One Direction in their high days, because I was..... a Nickleback fan. Probably at that stage more in my age group. I recently discover 1D through their solo careers. Love it. Love them and each of them in their solo careers. But Nickelback was and is still one of those bands. U2 as well. Guess just bands I grew up with in my teens and early 20's. 1D came later.
Been listening to Just One More from Get Rollin' on repeat,, classic Nickelback. Chad is an all rounder, amazing voice, funny af and gorgeous for a man about to turn 50, what's his secret 👀☺

Chad hits it bang on when he says most people turn down the songs while pulling up to lights , just to speed off and turn it up lmao
BRING BACK NICKLEBACK! NEVER HATED NICKELBACK TO BEGIN WITH
Grew up listening to these guys. Will always love them & be a fan ❤
I've been listening to Nickelback since I was in elementary school and then Silver Side Up just came out
They have such a great sense of humour.
Great interview lads....
Ryan is starting to look like Al Borland and I can't unsee it...
This was awesome! Man I had a laugh!
A few of their songs were just played ad nauseum to death. Like you had no choice but to resent them after a while. But when you take a step back it's obvious why they were popular.
I’ve never understood the Nickelback hate they’re one of my top favorite bands of all time
One of my most beloved bands and always will be people are just jealous because of you're talent
Everyone hates Nickelback til a song comes on. Then everyone weirdly knows all the lyrics and loves Nickelback.
Nickelback was kind of the bridge when Creed fell apart, Foo was really coming into their own and for some strange reason Pearl Jam was 100% different than the first 3 albums they put out. Nothing wrong with sounding the same... if its not broke dont fix it.
i have always been a ride or die person when it comes to nickelback right from the beginning ........ love from hamilton ontario canada
First album was pretty good - then they went radio formula pop
@@BC08 another normie who has listened to 4 of their songs.
@@browserboy1984 🙄
@@BC08 confirmed ☝️🙄
@@browserboy1984 I was rolling my eyes at your use of “normie”, confirming your opinion as unqualified and your status as a 🛠️.
My statement is objectively quantifiable, yours is clearly biased by fanaticism.
Have liked knickleback from their first single that got released and have seen them at least 7 times live. Always brilliant when I’ve seen live 🤟🤟
Not only do I wear my concert t-shirt proudly but my teenager does as well!🤘
Still listen to nickel back.
Holy shit these guys are good. For years theyve been painted as a band whos not self aware but theyre fucking spot on.
This literally had my eyes watering! So frikking good. 😂😂🤣🤣🤣
This made me think of Winger. They just disappeared after the Beavis and Butthead joke. Much respect to Nickleback. New music is awesome.
Started with Brian Posehn
Bought all heir albums, this is real music to listen too.
7 songs overplayed on every station on the radio is what did it. The song for Spiderman as well.
I always have liked Nickelback.. even when my White friends would tell me I had poor taste in music, I’d be like, “so what, it’s mine.”
My favs by them are Savin Me and Too Bad. But I can sing along with all their songs.
I never understood this and always jam to the classics I heard on the radio to this day.
Nickelback will dominate classic rock radio for decades
And that is why rock is a dead genre
@@majesticgods5702rock isn’t dead it’s just not as mainstream as it was. Bands are arguably more creative now.
I like and enjoy listening to their ballads:
I'd Come For You
Never Gonna Be Alone
Gotta Be Somebody
If Everyone Cared
Far Away
Savin Me
Photograph
Someday
How You Remind Me
Their best song is Animals.
i still enjoy their music
