By the way, thanks for showing how the FSE300R does on the road. One of the most frustrating things about RUclips reviews of this bike is you rarely see anyone riding it on the road as a true dual sport. I would be doing the same type of riding you do, but street and trails.
I'm seriously considering getting the FSE300R or the FSE450R. Not sure which one just yet! But anyway, I see a DR650 in your garage there. I also have a DR650 and it's been the only bike I've been riding off-road in Colorado for many years. I have ridden every sort of nasty terrain with it that you can imagine, and it does a great job, but it is a bit large. I'd like something a bit smaller and lighter and see how well it goes on the same trails, and on the road. But I'll never sell the DR650, it's also a very good street bike as you probably know.
I am still loving the 300. And yeah I still have the DR and have no plans to sell it (although it hasn't had much use since I bought the GPX) I haven't ridden the 450 but for my use nowadays the 300 is perfect....over the summer have been riding probably 60% single track, 30% jeep roads/double track and 10% street (to get to or to connect trails) Because I came from the DR650, the GPX feels amazing on the gnarlier stuff in comparison. If you want a decent trail focused dual sport they are hard to beat for the price. If you want to know anything more specific about the 300 I'm happy to answer any questions
Great video and overall review. Question: did the MCO come to you stating "motorcycle" or "off road"? I ask because in my state the MCO needs to say "motorcycle" to get it registered and plated for road use. Thanks!
I can't remember if it was stated as motorcycle or off road. Was able to register it here in CO. I'd send GPX an email or call to confirm, they're usually very quick to respond
Hey. May I ask what shifter you used. I'm buying one in the UK soon and I noticed the shifter feels short and I'm not a massive big foot! Just wondered if you'd mind sharing the part you used. Keep up the good work on these types of videos Cheers Neil
Also, did I hear you say you were 5'8" with a 30" inseam? I am the same and I am concerned about seat height. I can sit on and ride a DR650 without any problem and my current dual sport is a 34 inch seat height.
Yeah I'm 5'8 with 30" inseam. I have the seat concepts low on there which helps a little. You just get used to the height.....there are for sure situations where I have dropped it where I wouldn't if I was a little taller and could have got my foot down easier but I don't find it a big issue.
@@dualsportdad5185 Thanks for the quick reply. Do you sort-of wish you had gotten the 450, or are you still happy with the torque and road capability of the 300?
@@dustinsegers4534 have never wished I had the 450 over the 300. I'm actually barely on the road on this thing. I quickly went from dual sport riding to trail and singletrack riding last year so the300 is better for that

Great video, thanks. Would you still recommend this motorcycle? I am interested in possibly getting one to due the same riding you are here in AZ.

Also, what part of Colorado are you in? I'm south of Salida off highway 50. Great places to ride around here in the big mountains.
