Fun Fact about Street Fighter 2010: There's a one-shot side story in the UDON Comics, which shows that Street Fighter 2010 is an actual game that exists in it's canon. Ken actually licensed out his likeness out for the game, and it even featured Cyber-Akuma from MSHvsSF. It's mostly played for a joke, namely the fact that Ken himself says it missed the mark of 2010 completely.

Not sure what level of the iceberg, this belongs on but this came to mind as you discussed the Nash thing. Flash Kick was originally known as Somersault in Japan (probably Asia in general) which was probably done since there was no voice clip to contradict and it sounds like it makes sense next to Sonic Boom. SF5 marks a point when they made the English voice actor say Somersault and have basically phased out "Flash Kick". On a similar note, the playerbase of SF2 outside of Japan had a different series of terms for buttons which weren't LP, MP, HP, LK, MK, HK but Jab, Strong, Fierce, Short, Forward, Roundhouse. It seems to be an English scene thing that was primarily in arcades but it was phased out in SF4 I believe. One thing I expected to disappear faster was "Raiyu", which may have originated in arcades or from a cartoon but Steve Aoki said it during the SFV Winter Update stream this year. It feels more absurd as he has Japanese parents! (He wasn't born there though)
I think Raiyu came from dudes who couldn't pronounce Ryu. Twi things I could have touched on where cammys original moves and Jackie Chan in city hunter. But this video was long enough
@@ZMangz I think Raiden in Mortal Kombat being pronounced as Reiden came from the same thing. The cartoons and movie dubs probably would have pronounced Ryu correctly if there was any major supervision of the projects, but it is what is is... And this video was definitely long enough. I have another thing to add for Violent Ken. His stance in SNK vs Capcom is inspired by a mugen character. Evil Ken by the already deceased Reuben Kee.
Thanks for the coverage, pal. A few things: SFV Pocky Edition consisted of exhibition match(es) at Capcom Cup 2019 consisting of the players who got the best Pocky KOs and the winner had to face Kenny Omega. The STII Turbo' is referring to the Genesis Prototype which is vastly different in terms of coding. Dan's Shun Goku Satsu (not the Otoko Michi) occurred in the Udon comics, he attempts to do it on Sakura, but trips in the process. SF: World Warrior was referring to the cancelled/postponed followup to Assassin's Fist you mentioned. It's weird to hear about what you showed though. Akuma Smiling also happened in Tekken 7 in Ultimate Tekken Bowl. I plan to update it soon. I'll add/move/change some things but also remove things including cameos (would take up too much of the chart). This is mostly for space purposes.
I couldn't find anything about Dash Turbo besides a small bit on Wiki. Funny thing is, I actually had the postponed assassin's fist followup in the script, but for whatever reason I cut it out. Definitely add in Rival Schools and the Original Dee Jay design. i would have added Shin Akuma in SNES Alpha 2 and Jackie Chan in City Hunter.

And, since having more comments will help the algorithm (and this video deserves to be recognized imo) I will write now that my fav character is Chun Li, and that I think that her and Ryu should stay together ✨💜
I've gotta say the japanese names make more sense than the American ones. Balrog - has a dragon tattoo, M.Bison - is inspired by Mike Tyson, even his moves refers to the the animal Bison, Vega sounds german(idk i can't unsee that fact M.Bison is probably inspired by Hitler) Gouki means demon and so is Akuma(Devil) which both fits. Also Nash still sounds american to me. Nowdays they refer to Nash as the ressurected Charlie i think. Also it's funny how apparently changing a character's gender makes everyone think that character is trans or a girl with a penis. There's was also promotional poster by Capcom where Ryu bones Chun-Li.
Japanese names make sense but the shuffling of names still sounds okay and was done for reasons. I think Vega might have been referring to the star. Funny thing about Nash is also that he was called Charlie Nash way back in Street Fighter II V. Nash was a character in the show (design was different due to predating Alpha but his role was still to be Guile's Air Force buddy) and he was called Nash even in the dub. But Guile refers to him as "Charlie" in Nash's death scene. Poison in concept art is referred to as newhalf, a Japanese slang term for transgender - and the intent was that Capcom was unsure of an audience would be fine with a beat em up where players used men to beat up women. That's the primary reason. Ono said back in SF4 era that in Japan, Poison is pre-op and in the West she's post-op.
About the Peter thing, In the PC only 'Mysterious Mod' the creators have replaced Laura with Peter who has a whole new moveset, supers, and animations. Any Peter fans should check out the mod!
Slight correction when you talk about the pneumatic buttons from street fighter 1. Smash 4/ultimate aren't necessarily paying homage to them. The gameboy version of street fighter 2 used the clever workaround of holding buttons to get different attacks because it only has 2 buttons. I believe the gameboy advance versions of sf2 and alpha moved heavies to L and R and left the light and medium moves to holding A and B for different lengths of time. Since these are nintendo versions of street fighter games, they are most likely what inspired the same mechanic in smash
Additional fun fact(?): Looking at that design for The Ferret, I'm 95% certain he's meant to be an homage/parody of Badger, who was a famous indie superhero that was big in the 80s and 90s. Of course, he's also aping Wolverine. Fuck it,. he rips off every furry mammal superhero.
