Lumping together born Japanese-American citizens and foreign Japanese nationals makes the title of this video misleading because not every celebrity in this video were Japanese citizens. Some were just American with Japanese Names. So of course the born Japanese-Americans in this video speak good English. That's shouldn't be a surprise.
That's just how it is for japanese. They tend to have a silent "u" sound in those words. One other example is the name, Sasuke. You don't actually stress the SU part. You will always hear them call it as "Sas-Ke"
