The one and only time Dale and I backpacked was to S Manitou in 1969 . We had a pup tent, 2 day packs, bulky sleeping bags and probably a tote bag. We camped 2 nights near the lighthouse which at that time was abandoned and a wreck. We crawled in through a window where vandals had removed some boards and went to the top. Cost the park way more money to restore it than if they had kept it up. We had fun. Kat
Love the Manitou Islands! That's too bad you couldn't get out to North, but South is charming in its own right. Was there last summer and found an old boat off the side of a trail near the northern dunes that had some trees growing through it, so it must have been there a while!
Maybe I'm crazy but I think me and my daughter met you on S Manitou! I think we passed you on the trail while you were sitting. We talked briefly as I was trying to find an old trail. RUclips just recommended your Jordan Valley Pathway video to me and I did a double take! Wonderful to see your channel.
Sorry, i didn't see this comment until just now. Yes, i remember the two of you. Hope you are doing well and hiking a lot. Jordan River is great. Also the Manistee River Loop. I just paddled down the Manistee and hiked back. Problem is the suspension bridge is out of commission for repairs so a loop is not possible. But you could go up and back on the NCT side. It's beautiful this time of year. Keep Smilin'

Great video. Never heard of those islands before. Very beautiful. I would argue that the Scottish outer Hebrides are the Jamaica of the North though!😂
@@steviecoles1532 will have to check out the Hebrides. Keep Smilin'
