What an awesome area to camp! unbelievable sunset videos! I could tell it was windy but the views are fantastic! Great camping adventure! Thanks for sharing! Rick From Virginia
Wife and I backpacked North Manitou believe it or not way back in 1985 while we were living in T.C. We actually camped at what appeared to be where you were going to spend the night at Manitou Lake. It was a great trip with what I remember to be perfect September weather. Back then I remember the ferry from Fish Town ran until about Sept. 25thish. I hope you grabbed a brew and a meal at the Cove Restaurant on the wharf in Fish Town before ya left for down state. Loved your tent/lean to, have also enjoyed Knob Creek (when I could afford it)....like you, I missed seeing Atlas! Safe travels.
Glad you enjoyed North Manitou. I did that same hike back in 2005. That west shore at Crescent City is a special place. You can really feel the remoteness of the site with the strong weather blowing in from the open lake to the west. Cheers!
Yea North Manitou island in general is a special place but you’re right, crescent city area is something different and rare. You gotta get back there sometime! Glad you enjoyed :) Cheers!
try fishing lake Manitou, lots of small mouth bass to eat. Also watch out for ticks in those fields with tall grass right next to the trail. I came back from the island with little hitchhikers latched onto my legs.
I almost did but didn't have barbless lures or whatever they require. I used Permethrin spray so no ticks for me anymore. If you haven't tried it definitely check it out. Military grade bug repellent. Thanks for watching!
Nice adventure! I’ve been to south manitou island it’s just as beautiful . The bandito scramble needs to be scrambled in a fry pan after soaking 😁 I too enjoyed a few nasty spoonfuls until I reread the instructions. It’s really good so try it again .
Great video. I love the sense of solitude that you were able to portray. It's been about 7 years since I've been to North Manitou, and I'm heading back in a couple weeks for a solo trip of my own. This video definitely got me excited for the hiking and scenery!
Great video! My girlfriend and I were there July 31st - August 2nd and it was beautiful! We hiked out the first day to Crescent Dock and camped a bit north of where you were. It was gorgeous.
I was not expecting bratwurst boiled in a pot 😂 This island has been on my bucket list for years.. I need to just do it! Great vid. Edit: just subbed btw. Bringing the knob creek, my man haha
Hey that was fun! I'm in The Pacific Northwest and this island hike in Michigan was truly interesting and inspiring. Very different from the terrain and landscape here. Love the idea of having a cold lake to jump in after a hike! 😊👍👏👏👏👏
Loved the video! How great to get back out in nature and away from the chaos of life. If you could do 2 things different next time, what would you change?
Very cool and enjoy it! It’s a basic plastic Stanley flask from Walmart, amazon, anywhere really. I just slapped a American flag sticker on the side of it
These video/trips are fun to watch and relaxing. From a life time Michigander. Thank😊you
I was stranded there for two days because of bad weather and the ferry wouldn't run. Loved the adventure.
I just got done with my first back packing trip on the island a lot of fun

这里的环境太喜欢了,让人心旷神怡😁
It is one of the best backpacking and back country camping places in the US
That's a beautiful beach, plus video quality. Atlas was missed. Thanks for sharing your adventure 😊
Glad you enjoyed it :) Atlas was very missed :(
That sunset looks amazing! Wauw!
Insane, right!!! No effects or edits 👌
New subscriber here. I was like, "how does he have a sunrise and a sunset over the lake?" Oh, he's on island! I'll pay better attention next time.
Haha yea just a big circle. Thanks for watching!
Driving up from Orlando with Carmella (dog) my family lives in Leland and a Manitou trip is always great!
Doesn’t get much better! Leland is a beautiful area

You should invest in a Grayl for water. It policy’s and is just a great set up. I an see the Manitou from my from yard. They are spectacular islands.
Yes I’ll be purchasing one soon 😅 you can see the island from your yard?!?! I’m envious that’s for sure haha
Loved the video! How great to get back out in nature and away from the chaos of life. If you could do 2 things different next time, what would you change?
🤔 A better water filtration system and stopped sooner to call the last night
Beautiful Trip❣️👍
It really is! Thanks for watching :)
That was interesting but Iike you, I really missed Atlas.
1 hour boat ride? I read it takes 3 is it faster these days?
1.5 hours one way so 3 total round trip
What tarp/footprint are you using here?
At 2:18 I hear a dog barking ? Lol 😂
I had to give it a listen, but what you hear is actually a group of girls about a half mile away from me down the beach yelling and what not 😂
What time of the year was this? Heading up this year with my son.
I plan on doing this trip. Question for ya, what flask is that?
Very cool and enjoy it! It’s a basic plastic Stanley flask from Walmart, amazon, anywhere really. I just slapped a American flag sticker on the side of it
@@AtlasAdventures awesome thanks man, I’ll let ya know how it goes🤙🏼

Welcome Kyle. Glad you stumbled upon the channel!
How were the bugs this year?
Pretty nonexistent until night and still not too bad 👌
Loved the place but got nailed with poison ivy. That stuff was everywhere.
Yeahhh the poison ivy got me too haha
What time of year was that
This was the last week of July. Perfect temps and no biting flies 👍
