I feel like subjects are divided among them, so teamwork is also key to this competition.
I love how whenever there is a geography question, everybody else just sits back and looks over at Max knowing that he's got it covered.

no offense. but both culturally and physically, east Asians are quite different from south Asians. there is nothing special about Zeng. he just did well in a competition. not a huge deal.

My parents forced me to join Abacus while I was already into Swimming, Keyboard, Singing, Calculus and Pilates classes and still train me to an extent of getting A grades all the time. How is Mays the captain?
He's pretty good actually. Someone has to be the guy to make all the important decisions when nobody knows the answer and Mays is the best guy for it.

@@A_Realist mays is brilliant.The connections he makes to forge possible (and sometimes) correct answers is truly beautiful. Zeng is the MVP but if you look at the whole show mays definitely earns his title in my view... But Zeng is insane when it comes to geography/biology/chemistry

Why is the white guy the captain?
He is really steady tempered!! Keeps morale up too by laughing off an incorrect answer. He isn’t socially awkward and is very well spoken. A good captain.
Thank you. That's rather telling, although it also says something about Singapore's authoritarian education system and culture -- the pupils aren't allowed to mess about. At 4:10, however, Zeng's answer is in fact wrong. He says 'flanier', whereas it is 'flaneur'. It is clearly the wrong ending and has nowt to do with any accent.
I can guarantee you only like 10 other or less Singaporean students know about as much geography as he does 💀💀 (well at least those not pursuing a geography career). His unique penchant and knowledge for geography says nothing about their education system, and neither do any of these other young bright minds for their respective countries. Also I may be wrong, as I haven’t really studied his accent, but I’d assume it’s due to his accent and not a genuine mistake. Also, despite all the claims of Asian schools being much stricter, in reality for geniuses like him, it really doesn’t say anything. He would have been just as good in any other country, or maybe even better since there’s more free time.
Max Zeng probably learn geography as a hobby outside of the "education system" boundaries, he most likely would do the same even if he was born in any other country. I've seen people outside of Singapore do this quite often. They love looking at maps and can answer about anything Geography related,and believe me there's a lot of them.

U guys dont watch the show entirely for sure throughout the season. Mays and others did the best in their roles, especially in music, literature, natural science while Zeng is obviously good at geography.
You don’t have to be the smartest to have good leadership. Mays is definitely not a savant like Zeng but Mays has a steady temperament, keeps morale up and definitely is less socially awkward than Zeng. Mays is a good captain
