    Have several Redfield 3200s, Lyman Super Targetspots and one Unertl. I had two of the Balvars. Got them cheap because the dealer thought they were broken. The grease in the dial assemblies hardened. Cleaned them, regreased and they were just fine. Nice collection you have there.

    Beautiful Winchester model 52c and 52 d .22 cal Target Rifles. I do own a 1948 Winchester model 52b with a JW FECKER 3/4” tube Target Scope with Parallax adjustment. I do enjoy. BENCHREST shooting at the local firearms rifle range. Nice to see someone that does enjoy .22 lr @ 50yds as much as I do. They are Nicknamed “The King of the .22’s”

    Great seeing all your vintage scopes. I have an Unertl 20x on early ‘70’s Anschutz 1407 Match 54.

    Nice collection! I currently run a 12X Litschert on my model 52, but I have a 12x Unertl in the white that I plan on mounting after I get it blued.

    I have a technique for mounting my Unertl that seems to maintain zero. I carefully rock each mount forward and back while gradually tightening the thumb screw. My problem is that it is used on two different guns. I guess I should look for another, maybe a Fecker.

    I have a Fecker 12 power and Unertl 14 power I've mounted both on a 13 pound Winchester High Wall 38-55 . I do not use the recoil spring, instead I pull the scope back to batter after each shot, that way there is no danger of the scope hitting you in the eye. As it remains stationary. I know a 13 lb .38-55 doesn't kick very hard but with 335 gr. bullets there is some. Just My 2 cents worth..

    Appreciate all the info & history you gave out on each scope & rifle. A lot more entertaining than some museums that have everything locked behind glass & a 2 sentence card describing it. Somewhere put up I have Dad's B&L Balvar 5. I need to see if I have all parts. Great scope but hard to adjust by the mounts on a model 70 in 30/06. Rifle not with me but scope is here. Search time. Thank you sir for sharing the beauties.

    Litschert is pronounced litch-urt (said together), it is German in origin. The Litschert family has ties to other optics manufacturing in Germany.

    Great video! I have a Lyman Super Targetspot 20x on my Winchester 52D. It shoots amazing. I have a box with about 20 assorted original steel threaded scope caps of various sizes. Most don't have any markings. Do you know of any way to identify these caps

      I don’t have any good suggestions about that.

    Great video!! Thank you. My fav rifle is also a 513t with a 12x Fecker. Love it. Love your B&L scope too!
    Anyway you could help me with how to solder CH wire? I have tried a couple of times and just cannot seem to get it right.

    • @WalnutandSteel
      @WalnutandSteel  3 года назад +1

      what is CH wire?

    • @int31cm
      @int31cm 3 года назад +1

      My bad. Abbreviation for crosshair wire. I believe you said you repaired one of your Lyman or Unertls by soldering the wires.
      I have tried and tried with no success. I have heat sinked the reticle and no matter what I do, the wires don’t remain taunt after heat is applied.
      Looking for any comments or help.
      I have been making wires using either spider silk or unwaxed dental floss.
      Thank you. I can send you my email if it helps.

      I don’t believe you would be able to solder a non metalic filament. I am using tungsten.0005” wire for the job. I just tape them down and they work out fine

    • @int31cm
      @int31cm 3 года назад +1

      Ha-ha, no doubt, Spider silk is very strong and very fine (0.0002”), but not that strong. When attaching spider silk (or floss) to the reticle housing, I use the Locktite superglue gel; it drys fast and is very strong.
      As I mentioned, I have tried to soldering 0.0005” tungsten wire, but as I said, no luck so far. But I believe you said in the video you have, right? Would love to learn how you do it. Thank you

      @@WalnutandSteel thanks. What type soldering iron (wattage) and solder (lead content and thickness) do you use? Maybe my solder is wrong and/or my heat is too low or too high.
      Thank you very much!
