3:08 That moment when he further chastises Porsha, his own daughter cemented him as a full grade villain IMO That was borderline verbal and emotional abuse. There was also a scene earlier when she waved by to him but he doesn’t respond. In fact it factors in towards the end when she sings the lyric “I can’t hear you now”. And him bullying the entire main cast at 4:00 was savage as well Bobby Cannavale did so well though making him such an evil yet intriguing villain
@alecauda8282 Sure, Jimmy didn't try to kill Porsha, but there was always the risk of death even for her, considering how she so casually says 'No, none of us are safe' when she comes back. There was a risk of death that she knew about, so if that doesn't scream emotional abuse, I don't know what does. Plus, if your child is upset that she got fired, even if she misunderstood, then if you love her you would be comforting her, not calling her a talentless loser to her face and telling her to shut up. Not to mention, when he goes to tell her good night, whether he thinks she's just not answering or he knew she was gone, he calls her a spoiled brat when he's the one that spoiled her.
Honestly idk what his plan was, the song would've kept going porsha just wouldn't have been on stage? Buster would've probably paused the production to try and help or somethinh
NGL, I actually thought it was really neat how they subverted the liar revealed trope with how Crystal finds out the truth about Calloway. In most other movies (including the first film) Buster would have spent most of the story desperately keeping Crystal from finding out, with Crystal being completely fooled by his lies until it somehow all comes out in the third act. But instead, Crystal just does what any sensible businessman would do and contacts Calloway’s lawyer to check if Buster is legit. Jimmy Crystal obviously isn’t a good guy and his later actions are inexcusable, but finding out that Buster basically conned him and sold him a show under false pretences is pretty much the only time in the whole film where his rage is completely justified.
That's what I appreciate in this movie, despite having a bunch of animated animals as main cast, they portray the entertainment industry in a very convincing way.
Tbh, I feel like not having a villain would be better. A 3rd movie could focus on different situations and struggles. This one gave us a villain already, so if we have another movie, I'd like a fresh take on more realistic aspects of the character's lives.
It’s really impressive that ILLUMINATIONS decided to make such a fear-striking antagonist for their protagonists. Never did I think illumination would make a villain that’s willing to kill off the main character bro 💀 and they made it so well too
I’m glad the wolf daughter got her happy ending. I would never talk to a kid like that. I’d beat the crap out of anyone who tries to crush my child’s dream.
Yeah I agree I don’t like it when they tried ruin their dreams my dream is already crushed but it not over yet so I’m going college soon to learn independent and become photographer
Actually, I’d say none. If he actually succeeded in tossing someone off his building he would have been caught. It’s not like it’s in the middle of nowhere, it’s in the middle of a huge city. As long as police are effective in this world they would have been able to trace the murder to Jimmy. His employees know how short-tempered he is and during investigation most employees would most likely tell the police about his temper and behavior. Basically he would’ve been caught in no time. Though I’m not saying he hasn’t done anything before.. He has two security guards that seem to know about Jimmy’s intentions yet don’t do anything about it and are totally fine with Jimmy threatening and nearly killing Moon. Though It wouldn’t be surprising if Jimmy had them dispose of others before.
@@cheetahgirlygammer805 Mr. Crystal would probably pay for good PR to turn that murder into a suicide on Moon's part (since Moon would be dead and there's no witness to say otherwise).
I mean it's the easiest way you can cover up a murder. Any other death would raise questions, but a man like Crystal has the resources to bribe the police and portray it as suicide due to pressure.
3:33 That point makes a ton of sense if the rest of the movie is actually Buster imagining it as he's falling. He's able to get the dancers to participate in a show that was cancelled, meaning they're not going to be paid for this so there's no reason to show up or do anything for this guy who has already been publicly smeared. It takes more than performers to run a show like that, how'd he get the lights/music/background crew to do it for free? Porsha flipped out due to her demotion, so why would she agree to take the demoted role in the first place? Wouldn't she half-blame them all for "firing" her? It's not like she was friendly with any of them. The piglets trash a banquet hall, that in itself probably isn't illegal but it's also a very big bill the parents are now getting stuck with. They get Johnny's criminal father to break probation and beat up security and hotel employees, yet no one but Jimmy is arrested? How come no one just called the cops on them? This show wasn't supposed to happen so technically everyone's trespassing. The entire final act plays out EXACTLY like Buster Moon wrote it himself.
told yall, buster moon is officially dead in the sing cinematic universe. sing 3 will be about him coming to terms with the fact that he's dead as he accidentally scares the other characters by trying to interact with them as a ghost, before eventually passing to the other side
Yeah the falling part is dark and I could imagine how moon is imagining the *WHOLE* part of the movie were calloway is there and his friends in there at the stage and later on die and also imagining Crystal being arrested because yeah...
Ok I know that in this movie the animals are humanized and do not have any type of behavior 100% wild BUT THIS THING 2:30 THAT MAKES CRYSTAL, I LOVE IT, he is only removing something from the tooth, but he is directly showing his teeth to moon, just like a common carnivore shows his teeth in a threatening way e p i c
I remember watching this movie and being so impressed by his expressions and emotions. He seriously intimidates me lol, they made him a very good villain.
I love how well-built this character is. It's kind of psychopath that you can meet everyday and you don't know that something is wrong with him until you see lack of empathy and some impulsive behaviour. I love it
Saying that he's the gordon Ramsey for music is wrong, because Gordon Ramsey wants the best out of everyone and his chef and uses strict methods while crystal is straight up selfish
@@k4den271Agreed. Simon Cowell is kind of a prick to all performers, regardless of they're good or not. At least Gordan genuinely cares through his tough love persona.
I imagined Jimmy Crystal used to be exactly like Buster Moon, a dreamer and a people pleaser. When he started out he was a yes man who did everything he was told to make sure a show was a success, and anything. When he finally made it to the big times he probably made sure everything would be done his way. Probably why he's so aggressive to Moon, he sees himself in Buster without his remorselessness, and he hates that.
0:22 isn’t that a juicy coincidence Jimmy here is extremely Evil yet he’s scared of a performer, The performer who did it is Good otherwise she wouldn’t of gotten a reaction out of Jimmy but Jimmy was too scared to work with her when he is the scariest wolf in the whole Illumination Universe
It's makes you wonder, whatever happened to Jimmy's wife? I have a theory: She probably left because there must have been times where he would lash out at her. The scene where Jimmy calls Porsha "useless" makes you think was that the same reason his wife left? I mean calling a family member "useless" will cause them to think that they are no longer needed. In the end Porsha did leave knowing how unsatisfied and unsupportive her father was. Besides Porsha never asked what happened to her mother or maybe she was too young at the time to understand that she was never coming back. Even though she was raised by her father she doesn't act like him, it's clear that she inherited her mother's kind traits. She is even more understanding when she mistook Buster for replacing her. Even when Ms. Crowly came to get her she didn't assume she was being kidnapped or being held for ransom. Porsha had a lot of things and got a lot of stuff but in the end she was just a girl who had a demanding father and lacked a motherly figure. Maybe if there will be a 3rd movie hopefully Porsha will have a talk with Jimmy, reconnect with him just like Johnny did with his father. Just because Jimmy was a bad person and father doesn't mean he should try and make amends with his daughter. He might realize that she is the only family member he's got. Edit: I haven't seen the movie but after watching some scenes Jimmy never brought up Porsha's mother into account. I mean I could be wrong so this theory is just a speculation at best.
I actually think she died. Would explain why he throws himself into his work and why their relationship has some issues. If she left, why leaving without her kid? But i guess having two characters with death wifes was too much. I also hope Porsha and her dad talk to each other again. She is so cute, she deserves to know that her dad loves her.
It's not onscreen in this edit, but I love how Suki and even Jerry look absolutely horrified when he roars at his own daughter. They both shrewdly prevent Crystal's first attempt on Buster without him knowing, and even try to warn Buster he'd made a HORRIBLE mistake before he walked into his office. The two were just smug personel beforehand, but that point is the big ominous warning that they're damage control for the psycho in charge.
And despite all the suffering he received from Crystal, Jerry was still supportive of him to the very end. Dedication is one thing, devotion is another, but that cat was a lost cause.
This guy is the worst father figure in world history I swear to god. He was so mean to his daughter when she was crying. Edit: yeah after rewatching chicken little….jimmy crystal is a lot better than that wife killing chicken.
3:10 - Jimmy! The f**k are you doing?! Sure Porsha is sometimes out of character in the rehearsals and yes you're mad as hell about this, but damnit, I thought you we're a better Alpha-Father than that! You gotta admit, no one was expecting how good this Movie is. And honestly it’s great that everyone gave the first film a chance just for this one to go and Improve to a point that’s staggering! Cause I sure as hell wasn’t expecting for Jimmy Crystal to be the Villain that Everyone kinda expected, only for him to be MUCH MORE Sociopathic and Threatening than we realized!
6:00 I remember watching this movie with a friend, we both love it. It was July, so it was in the middle of summer, and I remember when Buster’s troupe disappeared, my friend jokingly said “I haven’t seen a loss that big since Amber Heard.” Still get me every time.
okay but like,, jerry was the only one that loved him 💀 once porsha realized he was bad she also didn’t like him, only jerry stayed. and for how he was treated, that’s dedication
You're not wrong, three weeks is an incredibly short amount of time to make an entire musical. Like even if they used music that was already written, you need so much time just for the cast to learn their placements, go over choreography, learn their lines, etc. Three months would be a more realistic time frame and for a musical even that's a bit thin. The Moon theater cast is just goated.
I love Crystal specifically for the scene where he just fucking dumps Moon off the lift like a goddamn maniac. No monologue, no contemplation, no dramatic pause, he doesn’t wait for anything, all he sees Moon as is an inconvenience and that level of heartlessness is rare in movies like this. I love it.
Jimmy Crystal is now my favorite Sing character. Not only cause he's such a good villain but also cause he's voiced by Bobby Cannavale, who's one of my favorite actors. If there is a third movie I hope he makes an appearance
I actually think they did just to scare us for a second but actually he was still holding very hard but if they put that in the scene then it wouldn't scare us at all
I had to rewatch the scene of Mr. Crystal throwing Buster off the roof multiple times to figure out how Buster climbed on his arm and I think I found out how. If you rewatch the scene you can see Crystal move his hand down while Buster was falling, then when Jerry came in the room he stopped moving for a few seconds. Buster grabbed onto his finger and quickly climbed onto his arm (probably because he was in a state of shock and panicked or because he’s a koala) that’s the only reasonable explanation I have
I don't know why but I really was convinced for a good bit of the film that he was a fakeout villain and he'd turn out to be a nice guy who was just too intense for his own good, and then I backed off on that and thought he was just gonna be a greedy exec who'd be discredited by the end. Proof that jimmy crystal never went to 3rd grade
3:08 That moment when he further chastises Porsha, his own daughter cemented him as a full grade villain IMO
That was borderline verbal and emotional abuse.
There was also a scene earlier when she waved by to him but he doesn’t respond.
In fact it factors in towards the end when she sings the lyric “I can’t hear you now”.
And him bullying the entire main cast at 4:00 was savage as well
Bobby Cannavale did so well though making him such an evil yet intriguing villain
how was that emotional abuse bro ;-;
@@rockoyhead yeah it was kinda true she doesn't have much going for her
Oh but please is Buster the REAL Crystal's victim, Porsha should just consider herself lucky not to have risked death
Not to mention, when he goes to tell her good night, whether he thinks she's just not answering or he knew she was gone, he calls her a spoiled brat when he's the one that spoiled her.

no wondering why the film is rated -PG 13- PG
6:04 "Officers, arrest that wolf." Classic!
Yeah, it's refreshing when a movie does something unexpected and realistic to tell a story.
That's what I appreciate in this movie, despite having a bunch of animated animals as main cast, they portray the entertainment industry in a very convincing way.

probably too many
@@k4den271 yep..

I imagined Jimmy Crystal used to be exactly like Buster Moon, a dreamer and a people pleaser. When he started out he was a yes man who did everything he was told to make sure a show was a success, and anything.
If only the movie went deeper with this concept 😭😭😭
I actually think she died. Would explain why he throws himself into his work and why their relationship has some issues. If she left, why leaving without her kid? But i guess having two characters with death wifes was too much. I also hope Porsha and her dad talk to each other again. She is so cute, she deserves to know that her dad loves her.
