Years ago I had a ride in a 1928 Travel Air 3000 biplane with a Hisso engine. The same engine in Jay's car. Very powerful engine even for an airplane. Last I heard this airplane was somewhere in Oklahoma. Thank you to my two favorite car guys!
Just amazing - the difference between Jay & the rest of us ... I had a thrill picking up our 1996 Caprice LS today with the newly installed 2 1/2 " Dual Catback exhaust ... the installer drove it & thought it had the 350 motor - it's a 4.3L L99 V8 with 150k miles ... every Car has it's own story, which changes constantly - much like a romance with a beautiful woman...
Thanks Jay! Wow! That engine, that car! I enjoyed watching the performance of it. It's appearance certainly draws people in. I liked that a good part of the drive took place on the expressway as that really added for the viewer's to get an overall feel for this machine. Very unique and amazing.
Jeepers Dennis, I thought you might have a bad day over that hat. I would have stuck it behind the seat or something. Love these videos Jay and to share a drive with Dennis probably makes his day. I've seen Dennis drive some very rare cars on his channel. Great job Dennis.
Any chance to visit Jay again in the future? Always enjoyed the episodes in his garage and his stories. I bet he got plenty new stuff to show since the last visit.
If you don't already, Follow Jay Leno's Garage here on youtube. New episodes every Monday. And since it's the pandemic, it's just.....Jay.......talking about his cars and going for rides.
@@yjwrangler7819 Yes, I know about Jay's channel, thanks. But it's really fun when Dennis visits Jay's garage and joke around cars like the time when Jay was trying to start his steam cars. It kinda felt more special somehow.
*in the middle of the freeway* “You ever drive center throttle?” “No” “Well a lot of people panic and think they’re hitting the brakes. Try to avoid that.” 🤣
Jay I love these cars you show! Congratulations on showing cars that most if us never heard of. I am glad you are restoring these vehicles. By the way do you own a Tucker 48? Would love to see a video on that car!
Dennis, amazing car & video, I noticed the front suspension bouncing at higher speeds.. big tires, heavy wheels & no oscillation dampners? (shocks) for the layman... LOL 😂
Got to love the sound of those straight cut gears! Why bother with first and second? With the torque of that engine, you could leave it in fourth all day, except you may want to shift into third in slow traffic to circulate the oil and the coolant some more.
Man was Jay young lol I wish he'd talked about the tranny it's obviously something period but w/that huge engine I'm surprised they'd have something to handle the torque and all.
@@andyharman3022 yes I have Ian Flemings book used a engine like the zeppelins had a hood eight feet long won a bunch of races until the count crashed it never raced her again .if they had made that flick as it’s in the book that would be a great movie ! The plot is better the car is cooler it’s quite the adventure. If you ever can get the book read it it’s a great story .
@@johnsiders7819 I actually read the original Fleming book, but after I saw the movie. You know what kinds of changes Hollywood makes to books when they adapt them to movie scripts. Very different.
@@andyharman3022 yep if a remake is ever considered I do hope they base it off the book ! I have been told Fleming did not want any of the bond stories exactly like he wrote them wonder why ?
Awesome machine. Jay seems to like the oddities. Dennis driving with the right steering and tending towards the left side of the road was a bit, concerning...
Just occurred to me - doesn't "Hispano-Suiza" literally mean "Spanish-Swiss"? Imagine living in the neighborhood, you never know when Jay Leno might drive by in something interesting.
I love how Jay shares his amazing cars with us all.
Wow, nearly 20 years ago! The only video of the Hispano Suiza I've seen. What a vehicle.
Cool too seeing what cars were on the road in 2002. :)
you can tell jay leno hasnt let the fame go to his head
This is from the time when Sports Cars were big and the People were small. Now it's the other way around. Plus I really like the horns!
Yes, it’s often been a joke here in the USA that Corvette’s are designed for big, fat, middle-aged men.
THAT TRANSMISSION WHINE IS CLASSIC.
Old or new, these episodes are terrific, thank you for uploading!

👍Good stuff! That's a HUGE car! Dennis was lucky Jay Leno letting him in the drivers seat. 👍

Dennis thanks for sharing Jay's cool old car. Stay safe and don't drive to fast!👨🦳
Jay was in his glory driving that Hispano Suiza and Dennis looked like he was almost afraid to drive it, but WHAT A CAR!
I was. That thing was a beast and worth way more than I am! No pressure at all.
@@MyClassicCarTV Jay doesn't let alot of people drive his cars, you are a lucky man.
Very lucky he must really like you Dennis 😁
I couldn't stop smiling when they hit the street in that thing. What an absolute ball.
a GREAT LOOK BACK....Thanks my friend....!
Again, it's insane to see how fast Jay really gets going in his cars. I mean he must be pushing 80 easy in some of these parts. Love this footage.
Jay loves taking him out in open cockpit cars lolol
Good one Jay
Keepcoming
That mustache blowing in the wind is epic...🤷♂️😅😅😅
Pure Gold.

You can feel that long-gear torque just watching it!
Another great video, thanks for sharing!
Most cars you have to ride in to feel the torque, this one you can see the torque in every shift.
Super cool !!!!!!! 👍👌😉
Bravo!
jays better than top gear any day

Jay has the best toy shop in the world
I love this car, and I love Jay Leno and Dennis Gage! It’s a trifecta of love I tell you what! Damn that a bitchin’ ride.
Desde España, enhorabuena, fantástico.

Dennis, are you the only person jay allows to drive his cars? I haven't seen anyone else.
Pretty much.

the stash is getting a beating
Don't worry about wrecking it Dennis. There may be another somewhere in the World for parts.
Probably in a swamp somewhere lol
Jays gotta work out again
Starting to let himself go a bit now! Hes gotta stay healthy so we keep getting good car guy videos
I prefer Car Jay to Tonight Show Jay.
Now we've seen the secret of "The Stash"...

👍👍
A bit of a tyre balance issue at 11.10 ?
👍🧡
Who else thinks this would have been a really great car to play the role of chitty chitty bang bang !!!??
There was actually a car in England named Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. It was an aero-engined special.

Sure was!
Owning a classic car requires time and effort. Most older vehicles will need some type of mechanical work, as well as, cosmetic repairs!
Rumtumtumbleing down...
How does the host keep his hat on, in the high winds?
Same with my 910 Datsun it sets off alarms just cruising at 30 km

Jay must have stepped on a frog at 2:59.
😍💕... ✌️🇫🇷
Sometimes I look back at my comments and think.Damn...I need to erase that shit. What the f was I talking about...But these will stick.
How did Dennis keep his hat?
jay still looks the same outfit and all
I wouldn’t have the nerve to drive that thing on the highway.
I wonder what it's top speed is...
9:06 6:33
top speed millege?
Will it do a burnout!? 😆
25:17 $1.59/gallon for gas in LA. Those were the days 😢
Police was very nice in those days.
They still are...
What white lines?
Not the first aero V8.
He needs a bigger garage lol
or your boat
still the same jeans and shirt
PLEASE stop saying "Hispano-SWAY-ZA," young man. It is pronounced "His - PAno -Swee -zah."
How does it pass california emissions? Lol
