- Today Cool Classics takes a look at the Life and Career of Barbara Eden.
From her childhood up to her first appearances on TV on shows like, I Love Lucy and How to Marry a Millionaire. Then her starring role on I Dream Of Jeannie with Co Stars, Larry Hagman and Bill Daily. We also look into her time on the Hit Show Dallas along with her friendship with Dawn Wells 😁
Along with her marriage to actor Michael Ansara who portrayed Cochise in the television series Broken Arrow, Kane in the 1979-1981 series Buck Rogers in the 25th Century and Commander Kang in three episodes of the Star Trek television series and the death of their son Matthew Ansara. - Развлечения
I did work for her at her home in Beverly Hills many years ago and she was truly one of the nicest people I had ever met. Nothing phony about her at all, very kind and considerate to anyone she came in contact with. She felt bad eating breakfast in front of me on morning and insisted I join her. I told her no but she insisted I sit down while she toasted up a couple of bagels for me. Again, a true gem.
Woah! Very Cool!
Thank You for sharing that! 😁
What a true Lady, full of class and grace
You lucky bastard 😁 I would've been drooling all over that bagel 🤪😂🤣
Her real self and good Character really show thru . In many other celebrities you see how phony they are but she is such a nice person and it really shows
She is so sweet, as I would have thought. Real
Adolescent boys from the 60s like me are thrilled learning Eden and Mary Ann are best friends.
One of the most memorable quotes from Larry Hagman. He said he wanted to quell any rumors about him working with Barbara Eden.
“Yes she is, and no we didn’t”
I have met Barbara 3 times and Dawn once. Barbara is just what you’d expect...very warm and sweet! It was so exciting to meet Barbara!! Dawn too. Dawn asked questions about me right away! She was easy to talk to. Also very sweet. I was so sorry to hear of her passing. Two lovely ladies!💕
You are so luck to have met them both!! Awesome! 😁
Barbara Eden and Dawn Wells are 2 of my Favorite People period. Throw in Bob Denver and Yeah, 3 Great Fun- Loving Personalities.
Wholesome. Not a tramp like the majority of Hollywood stars.
Barbara Eden was the best-looking woman on television in her time. Just stunning!
Dawn was no slouch. Neither was Elizabeth Montgomery or Elke Sommers. Linda Evans was a hottie, right up there too. There are others that fail to come to mind.
Barbara Eden was the best looking woman "PERIOD"!
@@LATVERIAN1 I'm guessing you have no idea what a young Linda Evans looked like, to make that statement. And this is coming from someone who had a mad crush on Barbara Eden as a child.
@@stevedem76 Elke.
Barbara Eden, Barbara Feldon, Dawn Wells & Angela Cartwright. ALL beautiful women ❗( RIP Dawn Wells )
I met both Barbara Eden and Dawn Wells in 2016 in Lakeland Florida. It was the highlight of my life. Have pics of me and them individually.
I Have a friend who went to that too!
I went to that
Met both Dawn and Barbara in Lakeland 4 years ago. Great ladies! RIP Dawn!
Jeannie and Mary Ann were my favorite female characters when I was a kid growing up in the 60s. I have always had a special affection for both ladies. When I was in college in the 70s I had a chance to see Barbara Eden perform live in an Atllanta night club, but I couldn't get anyone else in my dorm interested in going so I skipped the event. I have always regretted it.
I met Barbara Eden at a meet & Greet and she really is super nice and beautiful. Also got to meet Dawn Wells along with Bob Denver & Russell Johnson at a meet & greet. T.V. stars of the 60's didn't forget their fans and have always been very good about signing autographs and taking pictures.
It would be Hard to find 4 Better more Enjoyable people ever Anywhere on the Planet.
I live near Cocoa Beach, Florida. Every year we have the I Dream of Jeannie marathon ending at I Dream of Jeannie Lane at Lori Wilson Park.
Barbara would come many a year to welcome all of the participants. Recently Barbara couldn't make, but Dawn Wells came instead. At the time I thought it was weird but now it makes perfect sense.
Barbra Eden and Dawn Wells are truly America’s sweethearts.
No Argument on that EVER!
I am one of the lucky ones to meet both Barbara and Dawn together. The first time I met Dawn, she came up behind me in the hall and pulled my arm. She said I think I know you... and I said I know I know you! And we both laughed and laughed! Thanks for reminding me. I met them both again at another Hollywood Show. That photo of them together looks like the same show I was at. I remember making Barb blush when I mentioned that dress. Great video and a nice tribute. Keep up the good work!
That is awesome!
Thank You for sharing that! 😁
It's hard to articulate exactly how you feel watching the old clips of these shows because you are kind of transported back into a place and time where you just experienced pure joy as a child. "I Dream of Jeannie" was one of many favourites of mine. I noticed Barbara Feldon (AKA 99) in the photo with Barbara Eden and friends and, because I LOVED "Get Smart", I will be watching that video next! Cheers from Oz! 🦘
I remembered back in the day of the 80's. I was on the hollywood streets for the Christmas Lane Parade. And I got a Chance to meet Barbara Eden. Had a chance to chat and a very very nice hug. That will always stay with me. A very very beautiful and Classy lady.
I was in a pet store in Burbank sometime in the 80's and Barbara Eden was in there buying large bones for her dog and was so down to earth and sweet and I will never forget it...I didn't even bother her for an autograph cause I felt like I would be intruding in her everyday errands, but she looked the same as she did on TV even more beautiful close up
I Believe that. I Wonder what type of Dog she has or likes now? - I wish I could Show Her My Babies. I have a Golden Retriever Boy named Reagan. And a Great Pyrenees Boxer Mix Girl who came from a Snow White Mama. Her name is BabyElla. She's Brown with Black Tiger Stripes and White Paws. They'll both be 7 this Fall. I'm willing to bet if Barbara Eden saw them in person Or just their pictures that She would ❤ them.
🔴 She turned 90 yesterday❗Many Happy Returns, Barbara ❕
I was 5 when I dream of Jeannie and saw it in glorious black and white, I really wanted my own genie and I went looking for any old bottle I could find to see if anyone was in there and might pop out. I see she just had her 90th birthday! Love and best wishes for you Barbara. ♥
When we went looking for a genie bottle on a beach, all's we found were pop bottles!!!! Which were worth .02 cents deposit at the time!!!!!
The Klingon video you showed was not Michael Ansara. It was John Colicos playing the part of Kor. He was another brilliant character actor that appeared in many shows.
That's him , a fellow Torontonian....
Well crap! I always have a mistake when it comes to Star Trek 😒
Somebody has went thru and mislabeled the clips that are allowed to be used. It is a shame because the rest are all locked out and not for fair use. Maybe next time I will get a perfect video🤣
@@CoolClassics We still love the videos....
@Rusty Shackleford Henry Silva was great. He nearly always played a bad guy, but I think I read once that he was a very nice man.
@@vwhite3055
According to Nichelle Nichols book " Beyond Uhure " she dated and lived with Henry Silva another underappreciated actor
Oh my goodness, a clip with Barbara Eden and Dick York!
An unofficial I Dream Of Jeannie/Bewitched crossover.
Wasn't that Freaky? She even played kind of a Harem girl, Belly dancer, Genie!
I will always love watching Barbara Eden as Jeannie, wearing her miniskirts and boots. At 66 yrs old, she is still my dream girl.
She just died on August 9th, this year. She was 89.. I suppose you're stating your age, not hers.
@@donolinger6904 Are you sure? Even her Instagram account is active and said she just turned 90 on Aug 23..
@Edward Martinez - I have reason to believe that what I saw wasn't true.. I see stuff like that all of the time.
@@GenMasterB Check out my reply to the comment above yours. I think that I was wrong. So much web content seems to be BS.
@Edward Martinez Which one?
Barbara always has a smile which is one of the things I’ve noticed about her. Sorry to hear about losing her son. That’s a tragedy and heartbreaking and I can’t imagine the pain.
I saw the interview between Barbara Eden and Charlie Gibson, and he enraged me with how callous he was towards her over the loss of her son, as she cried and cried, poor thing. You can find it on here on YT.
The most beautiful woman ever in the world....I absolutely love her. Always have.
Agree 100%. And if you want to watch something Heart warming and Funny, search for the I Dream of Jeannie Episode where Bob Denver makes a Guest appearance. Of course he messes things up like he did on Gilligan. I promise, you will absolutely love that Show.
First time I saw her was the Andy Griffith show as the manicurist, instantly was in awe!!
I never realized that was Barbara Eden for some reason.
Did you guys know Andy wore a leg brace in the Matlock shows. He had Guillain Barres Syndrome in 1989.
Great episode!
First time I saw Barbara Eden was in the movie Five Weeks In A Balloon.
One of my earliest memories was Barbara Eden when at the end of the credits of How to marry a Millionaire she appeared holding a beach ball. Several decades later I saw that TV series on the internet and that brought out memories.
She’s even more Beautiful today than ever before
I had a huge crush for Barbara and Elizabeth Montgomery ....so beautiful
Mmmmm, Barbara Eden and Dawn Wells, both childhood crushes.
She really is very sweet when you meet her and gracious to her fans
she look so good for 90 years old. she is one of my favorites.
Barbara Eden and Tony Randall where also in the 1964 movie the 7 faces of Dr Lao, one of my favorites.
As a kid, I loved I Dream of Jeannie! I remember, looking forward to the next show.
The presentations on your videos are superb. Thanks for bringing out wonderful by-gone memories with your research...
Glad you like them!
I totally agree with you 💯 percent!!
"I Dream of Jeannie" was my favorite show in the 1960s. Nothing even compared. They would pre-empt scheduled showings to broadcast live sports events on TV and my sister and I tried calling the TV station to complain. We were die-hard fans and neither of us can stand team sports to this day because of our outrage over sports events taking place of the show.
I loved her in Harper Valley PTA.
I think it's funny I Dream Of Jeanie & Bewitched had a bit of a feud.
I love her!!! She's beautiful and very talented. She seems to be down to earth too!! I remember watching reruns of I Dream of Jeannie in the late 1970s as a child. I was a month old when the series ended on May 26,1970.I remember watching Harper Valley PTA the series on NBC in the early 1980s. I also remember her doing a Leggs commercial in the 1980s (I loved commercials as a child). I remember her on Intimate Portrait talking about her son. That was very sad.
I met her at the LifeBall in Vienna in 2013. In fact, the last shot in your video is from the pink carpet where she dressed up in a Genie costume and carried her bottle to match the theme of the gala; Arabian Knights.
The most beautiful actress hands down.
Man, she's great! I started watching I Dream Of Jeannie recently, I haven't watched that show since I was kid back in the 80's but I remember she was awesome as aunt Irma in Sabrina The Teenage Witch, her character reminded me a bit of Endora but evil :D
Great presentation❤️💃💕💃💕💃 I Dream Of Jeannie was way before my time but I remember watching the re-runs when I was growing up. A fun tv show! And of course I became a fan ever since. One of my favorite movies was the very spooky, "A Howling In The Woods." Which I highly recommend for a movie night. Get the popcorn ready! 🍿🍿🍿🍿 A wonderful, talented, very beautiful star!🌟✨🌟✨🌟✨🌟✨🌟✨🌟
I absolutely LOVE these little videos! You seem to have the same taste in television that I did as a child and even as an adult I was watching Get Smart Again while I was in labor with my 6th child!!!!
Wow--You almost missed him by----
🙏---------🙏
That much!!!!!!!
i met dawn wells in Southern Utahs "Western Legends Roundup". she was so sweet with beautiful eye contact. she signed a photo of the "honey bees" for us. Odly 15 years ago i was looking for a home in Las Vegas and was shown a home that was noted as "previously owned by dawn Wells". We later built a home in the Northwest of Las Vegas and was told the small home to our East was once owned by Bob Denver. Whether true or not, as a child of the 70's it gave me a warm thrill in my heart.
Ken.
As a boy growing up,..well, these two ladies were two of my favorite crushes 😍 😍 😍 😍
Barbara and Dawn...Wow what a couple of Wonderful Women...!!!
Thank you for the excellent presentations on these stars. A very comprehensive and enjoyable production. I loved Barbara Eden as Genie and Dawn Wells as Mary Ann. They were gentle ladies and I loved them to death. I was sad to learn of Dawn's passing. AS a matter of fact; I thought Bob Denver. I remember him in The Many Loves of Dobbie Gilles; his role as Maynard G. Krebs was a killer. Keep up the excellent work. This is indeed a labour of love for you. Cheers mate!
I could have met Dawn Wells at a casino I used to frequent, I didn't go to that event; I don't remember why but I was never a big Gilligan fan. Barbara Eden was not at that event (they would have posted a photo if she had been a surprise guest.) I did see one of the Hollies (who was also in the Swinging Blue Jeans) he asked if anyone made money that night (I was the only one to stick up my hand) he said 'That Prince Albert looking fella' (probably due to my side burns.) He put on a good show, they also JOhn Ford Coley and I didn't go because I didn't know he (and England Dan, who passed a few years prior) sang "I'd really love to see you tonight." That's a great song. Always been a Barbara Eden fan, she had a unique look; I wish iconic celebs would hire a 20 year old lookalike to play them at events and take on the persona of immortality. We could start small and KISS could do that, then the Temptations (few people could pick any of them out of a lineup individually.) But, Barbara Eden looks better for someone in her 80s or 90s than Nikki Cox did as soon as she turned 30 and that's a tragedy (most stunning woman from 18-28.) There was a B movie actress (Evil Toons, Angel eyes) and a playmate (the one who had an affair with the televangelist) who both looked similar to Nikki, but they were before her; I need someone after her.
Do you mean Monique Gabrielle?
She is from back here in Missouri.
Totally classy Women. Never met her but from seeing her on screen and hearing about her, she's great.!
Thank goodness for Love boat and Fantasy Island also for giving talent another chance!
I was lucky enough to meet Barbara in 2013 and Dawn in 2016 in Melbourne Australia both were wonderful to see
She did another movie with Tony Randall: The Seven Faces of Dr. Lao. Great movie.
Barbara's marriage to Michael Ansara was far more troublesome than described here, as was the untimely death of her only son.
Barbara's first IMDB credit is in 1956 (the year I was born), and her latest credit is in 2019 as Mrs. Claus in "My Adventures with Santa". So... her entire career has spanned my entire life.
I have met Dawn Wells in Denver years ago. I loved her as MaryAnn in Gilligan Island. Dawn was very kind and willing to talk to anyone. I got a photo of her with a signed Gilligan island cookbook. Barabra wasn't there at that time. To this day I still watch BeWitch and Gilligan Island. Two great shows. I also am enjoying your videos. Thanks for bringing back memories and some behind the scene stories.
Keep them coming.
💜
Aw…really nice piece about a terrific lady who was a part of our childhoods! I found many of the oldest Jeannie episodes here on YT…so much fun! Thank you!
Enjoyed your video 🙏 I so enjoyed Dream of Jeannie as a child. Barbara Eden has the dreamy eyes of a goddess: still!!
Thank you..a great respectful video ...i have met Barbara twice now and seen her three times live...she is a true and lovely lady and a very gracious star .
My two favorite women as a kid in the 60s.❤❤❤
Loved both Jeannie and Mrs. Bellows ! Both were 10s!
Great video on Barbara Eden. I watched the pilot episode of I Dream of Jeannie a couple of weeks ago, and was mesmerized by watching "Jeannie" walk around wearing nothing but a man's dress shirt for half the episode.
Small matter, but Barbara said she shaved 3 years off of her age at one point (as you said), and that jives with multiple reports I've seen that she was actually born in 1931.
PS - I didn't recognize Dawn Wells. Wasn't used to seeing her with all that hair.
With the classic question Maryann or Ginger there would be lots of talk but when asked Maryann or Barbra the brain freezes
Many thanks
I've seen this video before and I dream of Jeannie wasa one of my favorite TV shows, another great testament and video to a lovely lady
Another great video. Being born in 1964 I remember watching "I Dream of Jeannie" but it wasn't on long enough for me to remember all of the characters like in my favourite shows "Family Affair" "Bewitched" and "The Beverly Hillbillies" I'm loving Tubi as it has so many of my favourite old shows on it as well as ones I have never seen such as "Dennis the Menace" "The Mother-in-law's" "The Doris Day Show" etc
Thank you, I loved I dream of Genie, Barbara's personality and beauty gave me a sense of wonder and wild humour while growing up. One of my favourite memories was her ditsy portrayal that made television worth watching.....and she was and is a beautifull Lady who left a young boy with fun filled beautifull memories. Thanks.
My Mother was the spitting image of Barbara Eden…I grew up in Santa Barbara and when at the beach she certainly had gawkers that thought she was Barbara…and my classmates thought my Mom was Jeannie. They could have been twins. My Mom is still beautiful and the kindest person. Wish I could show you a photo.
Wow! And you grew up in California too!
Keep those good memories alive 😁
As iconic as that genie outfit was, for some strange reason I thought she looked even sexier when they put Jeanie in those mod 70s dresses.
This show and Barbara Eden is most remarkable
I love all these videos. I grew up in the 1960s&70s and all these actors and the TV shows they were on bring back fond memories. Thank you!
Wonderful memory of her career. Great show to watch. Thanks for the stream.
0:24 Damn I think I remember this picture? She played Diana in an I Love Lucy Episode. She was so beautiful there! I forgot what season and episode number. I'll get back to you on that. Man, I loved Nick at Nite so much in the 90's when I was growing up!
In looking back at all the variety of roles in movies and TV, you would think, this is one fine lady who wouldn't get typecast. At least we can enjoy all the reruns from her fine career! Amazing that she met and performed with so many of the hollywood stars around the start of her career. Her bubbly Jeannie personality was uniquely different than Bewitch's Samantha! A true star of hollywood and TV.
My two biggest crushes growing up. Jeannie and Mary Ann 🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤
@Rusty Shackleford Well Petticoat Junction too and Marcia... 🤗
@@hypnodance Look-up Mary Ann when she was 18 doing beauty pageants, she was a hottie 🤗 No problem, you can have Ginger... 🤠
She is still with us as of 5/15/2022. 90years young. I love watching her show.
And still watch it on reruns.
I like ALL your classic stories 😁👏🏻👏🏼👏👏🏾👏🏿
Absolutely stunning
I had a HUGE CRUSH on her growing up.
I Dream of Jeannie was my absolute FAVORITE show growing up.
Aww man. Would have loved to see Dawn Wells and Barbara Eden. Bummer
2nd...ahh yes My childhood....I was born in 60....Grew up with the two of them .... they were both beautiful talented actresses...
she was great in Harper Vally PTA
Yes she was! I had to throw in a clip form there :)
I loved that show! She was a beautiful lady
I got my Jeannie bottle signed by Barbara at a convention back in 2019, Dawn was there too but I just missed out on meeting her..now thanks to horrible Covid I'll never get another chance. :(
Where did you get the Jeannie bottle and which color is it?
@@CoolClassics Bought the bottle from ebay, it's the version that Barbara officially endorsed, it's the same deep purple as the series 2 onwards bottle..it's now a prized possession of mine.
I met her at Planet Comic-Con in Kansas City a few years back. She was delightful.
Too many sweethearts to mention I love you all🙏❤
I met Barbara through a mutual friend and she was such a lovely person
Both I Dream Of Jeanie and Harper Valley PTA was the best shows she in .
I met Barbara Eden in California at the restaurant I was working at. She was adorable. Like a life-size Barbie. She ordered a hamburger without a top bun, and eat it with a knife and fork. I told her I really enjoyed her Harper Valley PTA and of course her time as Jeanne. Very sweet lady
Very Cool!
The moment u heard the music for Dallas No one was leaving the television
thankuuuuuu ..oh my childhood in the 60's
What an absolute goddess. And in so many ways.
I met Barbara in my dreams, every night, for years on end. I still see her there from time to time and she's always beautiful.
Thank you again
Sure am enjoying your uploads. Being over 65, I remember them all. I have a channel originally started as an Inger Stevens tribute. She, like those mentioned here, had a TV series, The Farmer's Daughter (see the William Windom channel for numerous uploads.) Inger, for whatever reason, transitioned seemingly easily (maybe it wasn't easy?) between TV and movies.
Very cool!
A good friend of mine was a customer service rep for Victoria Secret. He said he got a call from Barbara and he said she was the nicest most gracious customer ever! No surprise there!
💜
I am so sorry we lost Dawn Wells . Another heart ache for Barbara Eden. God bless them both.
I watch your classics all the time. I really enjoy them. Thank you for sharing
Excellent!!! Enjoy all your episodes
Hot dang. Barbara Eden and Dawn Wells together! That would have been a delight to see.
Seriously kickass! Thanks for this!
Thank you very much for the really detailed information about the life of Barbara Eden!!❤️♥️❤️♥️💓🙏👍
💜💖
I give you 2 thumbs up for the efforts you put into these videos!👍👍
Barbara was a great actress.
What a great story in learning about the actors of Barbara's era sticking together. Hollywood seems handicapped by their assumptions in all areas! With regard to the actors of a bygone era, who doesn't love to see an old friend... and that's who these people are... old friends from fond memories.
One of my fondest childhood memories is tearing off the school bus to catch the last 20 minutes of Gilligan's Island that started at 3:00 o'clock each week day afternoon after it went into syndication.
