I'm Thai. Tony Jaa's martial art is called Muay Thai Boran, which is a throw-on, shake-and-break fight. It is more dangerous than Muay Thai nowadays. Muay Thai Boran is used in times of war. Can kill opponents, even fight with bare hands. Ancient Muay Thai has 4 sectors, but each region has Mae Mai Muay Thai. Different styles, while Tony Jaa uses Korat boxing in the Northeast of Thailand. will focus mainly on kicking in the northeastern region of Thailand, most people are very strong The shins and legs are big and powerful when kicking an opponent.
Fun fact, all the fighters are actually fighters and not just stunt men. They all were willing to actually take a hit in these sequences, but as mentioned some are actually wearing protection under their wigs. Lots of these hits tho are legit if not held back a slight bit, but contact is made.
Ong Bak 1 is still by far the best out of the three movies. I mean I love the ending fight scenes in Ong Bak 2. But the stunts and moves he does in this movie are insane as he didn't use wires or graphics for his stunts
Ong bak 2 and 3 is historical fiction, yes its mostly based on True event but they changed many things so it became fiction. Meanwhile ong back basically action movie
Actually because it's more known world wide , he wasn't using Muay Thai ( which is the modern sport form although still brutal ), he's using Muay Boran which is the ancient form of Muay Thai. Muay Boran translates as "Old or Ancient Boxing,"
@@projectlee8618 you can probably find Muay Thai gyms somewhere near you live. A better version of kickboxing basically but muay boron is definitely in some places back in Thailand
When I saw her my same age, I can't do what she does at all. They did have the ending but weren't bloopers. These were real hits and injuries. She is 39 now.
Ong Bak is one of my childhood movies, beside Ong Bak you guys should watch Chocolate. It's also a Thai fighting movie but the lead is a girl, and at the end they showed how much training she done for the movie and also so much injuries were done for it too, it's a really good movie, especially when you love getting revenge on the bad people aha
No wires, all real stunt TJ the best but watch the Protector, best Tony Jah, but atleast you know HxH lit right now, shit only gets greater and greater to the very end.
5:53 Dude it's no BS. When your body and mind are filled with adrenaline and you know you can win the fight and you are fight for something (you life), you will not really feel the pain. BUT you WILL definitely, once you stop/finish the fight tho.
It was there. The scene was right after the tree climbing competition. And the village elder monk told him that now he had learned Mauy Thai, to never used it. Then his uncle goes on telling him why Mauy Thai is dangerous by telling him that the elderly monk, once killed a dude in the ring with it.
Tony Jaa is a great martial artist..but that was actually the style that predates Muay Thai called Muay Bang ...which teaches more deadly strikes than what the competitive Muay Thai does . A lot of the moves are the same..because its what originated Muay Thai.
Morefact: Muaythai is a martial art with origins in the ancient battlefield tactics (unarmed combat) of the Siamese (or Thai) army in 16th century and this is the reason that why Muaythai is so powerful and brutal.
To explain why he was able to to take all the chairs & plates if you watch he was blocking with his elbows & legs, in muay thai you train to deadin nerves the elbows, parts of the arms & in the knees & parts of the legs
Tony Jaa doesn't do stunts. He trys to do what Jackie Chan does but more brutal. Muay Thai is a really brutal fighting style when mastered. It consist of constant training from a young age and most of that training is spent at kicking, punching, and elbowing trees. That kind of training makes small cracks and breaks on your bones and then healing. They become harder over time. This is why they can break a maplewood baseball bat in half by kicking it.
Tony jaa training muay boran, not muay thai. Muay thai is Just a sport version of it. Its happen similar to silat olahraga is sport version of penchak silat
Muay Thai fighters actually train their knees and elbows and shins to be tough enough to hit concrete. It’s one of the most dangerous martial art there is to practice because you are always bound to break a bone or two just training it. It’s like boxers hitting their abs repeatedly full force to break it down then let it heal to get stronger then break it down again. So boxes have rock hard abs
Muay Thai fighters IRL can easily break baseball bats and do not even feel a thing. Their shins have extra deposit of calcium due to micro-fractures which even makes the muscles stronger. This is choreographed though.
In regards to your comments and how this stuff doesn't hurt tony. In a realistic environment of course it would work. However, both Silat and Muay Thai fighters spend decades fracturing bones and rebuilding them. There's actually a man in Thailand now that can take a steel Warhammer to his arm and avoid fracturing
Sounds weird to say but this Thai Muay Thai appears to be such a violent style of martial arts - it doesn't seem to be designed to look pretty, or focus your mind or spirit - it looks like it was just designed to hurt people as badly as possible, with nothing off limits
Muay thai is sport version. The original one is called muay boran, its called arts of 8 limbs where they use 8 limbs as weapon in war. Many people still didn't know where this art coming from because khmer (cambodia) also got one and siammese also got one, southern china also got one. What we know is muay boran were use by thai army against burmese back in 1600's. What weird thing is khmer already use its against vietnamese 200 years earlier. In malay peninsular, malay learn it from siammese but only few love it because we malay use silat which is more versatile. In northern malay peninsular, thai invading our kingdom so we create silat cekak hanafi to fight against muay boran. And yes silat cekak hanafi can win against muay boran
Its hurt actually when someone hit you with table or any things, but.in muay thai.they train to bulid the iron body.when you in anger+the body you train.you will forget that pain
I'm leaving this comment as constructive criticism, I hope this does not sound like it's coming from a negative place but in my honest opinion I think the video that was chosen to be showed to everyone is absolutely horrible at showing the real emotions and time and skill that was put into this scene. The way the video was edited took away the vulnerability that Tony Ja choreographed into himself and instead made him look like one punch man like one of your friends did mention. Every vital part of the of the whole scene was taken out making it look like the most one sided fight possible...I know it seems like a small thing but I honestly think that everyone will have a completely different judgement if the right clip was used (in fact I am so sure that I can bet that every single one will have a completely different judgement on this scene if the right clip was used) As a big fan of Muay Boran and Tony Ja I really recommend you all take a look at this scene again and make a re judgement. Perhaps as a suggestion use the same exact scene this You Tuber has used and then make another judgement ruclips.net/video/QfUTKd-BBOo/видео.html p.s. I remember someone mentioning how its unreal that he looks unphased by all the glass and tables that were thrown at him, that is actually because in Muay Thai/Muay Boran they train hours on end for days to harden their elbows and knees by breaking banana tree trunks so it is actually not unrealistic how he blocks most of the blows by blocking with his elbows and knees.
