I wonder if the pandemic and the public's response is making people more scared. Too see the whole world worried, acting out , being angry, it kind of makes life seem unsafe. Society being chaotic in 2020 might be a real influencer on everyone, even calm people.

re: Claudia disliking horror films/Jessica liking them
It's rather common for Deaf people to like horror movies or not think they're scary! A lot of the tension and suspense that hearing people get from horror movies is due to the music. Try watching a scary movie with captions on and the sound muted, it's a lot less scary.

Your strong reaction to being startled might be due to EDS. My EDS specialist once told me that my strong response to being scared/startled (e.g. 10+ min of heart racing and whole body shaking if the doorbell rings and I wasn't expecting anyone) is likely due to the fact that my body doesn't regulate adrenaline correctly. The specialist explained that people with EDS don't regulate hormones all the hormones correctly. I have multiple hormones that are not regulated correctly.
if you want to write but are scared of someone you know reading your writing, maybe you could post your work online on reading sites, people could read your work without knowing who the author is and get feedback. Maybe that would give you the confidence later on to publish a book :)

If a person is disabled enough to have limited energy, the choices we make on how to spend our time really is more momentous. Energy becomes a precious commodity. So when Jessica mentions she doesn't want to waste her time, it has more significance because her energy pool is reduced. It is like when someone is poor how they spend their money is more significant because they have such limited resources.

*BIG HUGS!* ❤️ Fear sucks, I totally get it. It's really hard to admit to yourself that you're scared when you're normally the brave one. 🍃
I've been trying to see fear in a different light this year. 💪 I'm trying to see fear ( or lack there of for my case ) as a sign of change. I'm a *very* fearful person, I've always had horrible anxiety 😣 and everything gets to me. Then, I made a really big decision last year; now my whole life is changing drastically‼️With this new year it feels like my fear has dropped off the face of the earth and I don't know how to handle that. It feels like these imaginary guidelines I had for myself are suddenly gone. Like this 'frenemy' I had yelling at me my whole life can only whisper now. But yeah.
Take it as a cue that things are going to change and your body is just trying to prepare for what's to come. Sending lots of love to you lovely people! 💌❣️💮

Watching you both reminds me how very grateful I am to have found my people. I believe there are multiple soul mates for each of us. Lovers, friends, family...those people who enrich our lives and complete our puzzles 🧩. I have my husband and my best friend. I love them both completely and can’t imagine life without either of them. Regardless of how scared I become of my future with chronic illnesses, they’re there to love and support me. Thank you for not letting me forget.

Thank you for taking time out of your holiday to make this video. Suddenly being afraid just happens at times, I am so happy you have each other to discuss these topics with. It helps others see a way to deal with their fears as well. Thank you Claudia and Jessica for your advice.
Have a beautiful birthday and glamorous lovely anniversary and holiday. You both so deserve it.

Ooh as usual, Jessica's vids are quite timely and reassuring. I'm dealing with nursing school (which is an almost constant source of fear) but I also recently saw Frozen 2 and theres a song called The Next Right Thing which puts into words how I've always dealt with fear, which is that in order to not get overwhelmed, just focus on the next thing you need to do, be it just getting out of bed or opening up the cover of your textbook.

I love watching you both together! I’d love to see you more of you both. No wonder you’ve been together for so long, you both work so well together. It’s absolutely beautiful. It gives me hope for my relationship. I hope in a years time to be even more thankful for his support and meeting new and wonderful people to being into our lives and our children’s. ☺️

Loved this video, I'm glad that you're keeping it real and though you're fearful, I get so happy and hopeful to see how much you two love each other.

Thank you for the video! It always makes my day seeing you both. There's so much crappy stuff going on and then sweet Jessica and Claudia content gets posted and its 90% better. As to the book, all writers usually deal with anxiety about whether people will enjoy their writing. Please jump in and try. I'd love to read. Also, I think people focus to much worrying about the new year that they forget the progress they've made.
P.S. Molly Burke wrote a book, well, recorded one. Maybe she could give you advice!

Claudia gives amazing advice! It was in a vlogmas video i think, though i could be wrong, where she talked about how people are so narcissistic and in their own worlds that they literally don't even notice you in public. It really stuck for me and I went to a concert alone last night where i would normally be too self-aware to sing and dance, but I sang my heart out and danced alone and didn't care who saw me!

I’ve definitely gone through seasons like that. Just constant fear/dread. One thing that helped me hang on was thinking, “This feeling won’t last forever.” And it never did! I hope 2020 continues on with more internal peace for you. ❤️

I know my time has passed for that kind of love and relationship but it's so lovely to watch you two together. Fabulous, amazing, and numerous other adjectives I won't bore you with. But now that your channel has grown soooooo much, I doubt you can read every comment every day.....but that's okay, I just wanted to put it out there how inspirational you both are......

You guys are amazing and I always learn lots of little bits and pieces from your videos.
Just so you know Jessica, heaps of artists struggle with breaking through that first bit of pen to paper or paint on canvas. It's get easier once you get started. I do think what claudia suggests is good.. Don't wait til you feel relaxed and in the mood, just start with crappy squiggly irrelevant writing, and get in the flow. Use little exercises if it helps but keep up the writing, and you can always edit back or cut stuff out, but once you start your brain will go with the flow and get better, promise! Good luck!

well, this inspired a really self compassionate and ambitious journal entry! i've struggled with imagining myself in the future and ambition is quite new to me. if my ambition was a child it would barely be walking by now! it's scary to have goals all of a sudden, although i guess the work i've put into my mental health in order to be able to believe in myself and be hopeful wasn't sudden at all. i was in a local production of a play i helped write last year and i performed spoken word in front of an audience for the first time in 2019! i'm in university for psychology and never intended to build a career out of my art but it turns out that writing every day for years made me quite good at it and i wanna get better at drawing and painting. i'm putting myself out there for the first time in my life and i have so many project ideas! i barely recognize myself! i'm terrified of the vulnerability of it all but i think about you jessica on a daily basis in order to motivate myself. "I can't focus on the things I can't do because of my mental illnesses because they're a part of me whether i like it or not and sulking about my condition will not make anything better" is what i tell myself when i remember you. thank you for the honesty and for the tools you've equiped me with emotionally, i love you.

Claudia's advice of "in a week's time this will be over" was actually very helpful :') my anxiety has been through the roof lately, and I realized,,, in a week, i won't be worried about most of this anymore. Of course, I'll probably have a billion new things to panic about, but at least they'll be new!

This time two days ago, I was FREAKING OUT about an upcoming audition. This time yesterday I was at the audition and still freaking out. Today I sit here kinda freaking out for a different reason - I GOT THE ROLE! So yes, the way it is now is not the only way it will be. And maybe it will turn out exactly as you hoped. 💛 Go forth and create!
