  • In this video, I ride Seattle's Link Light Rail from Chinatown-International District to Westlake. It was my second time riding the light rail. The system is run by Sound Transit. I thought it was really smooth & efficient.

    I personally rode this line all the way from Angle Lake to Northgate, and everything was clean, efficient, and smooth. The one thing that bugs me is that there is literally no trash cans. You can only see the trash cans at the entrance/exit of the station, so some people just... throw the trash on the floor sometimes.

    Seattle is headed in the right direction, but honestly, they have much work to be done, the rail has so many underserved and is useless to the majority of residents being that it the system has very poor coverage. Having said all that, Seattle is perhaps the city on the west coast that could turn from a car-centric mayhem to being a place were a car isn't necessary.

    • @mangarda
      @mangarda Год назад +2

      The train system will never have the coverage that a bus system has, but building it out takes time. It makes perfect sense that the first stations ran from downtown to the airport, not because a lot of people live there, but because those places have logistical importance and people who go there tend to not take their cars. What's essential at this point is that we continue to utilize the train system when we can (and PAY for our rides) so that the system can generate revenue to build expansions.

No "People Mover", no "Flyaway" bus that takes you 2 hours to the light rail you needed to go to get to Santa Monica or Long Beach, no 1 hour walk to take the nearest bus, no expensive ubers. Just pay a few bucks and you can get off at Westlake, CID, UDistrict, or Northgate. I felt like a caveman enlightened by alien technology

Fortunately I was able to find an affordable motel room near the airport, and I was able to use their shuttle to get to the Airport station for the Light Rail. I was able to do most of what I had planned on the trip without a car, including a trip downtown, thanks to the Light Rail! And now they're extending it north to Lynnwood and, later, Everett.
