I’m 63 and this theme song has been stuck in my head since I was a kid. I’m thrilled to find this. !
I'm 64 in Romania and I really miss the time when I used to watch this series, on a Russian Black / White TV, with lamps ... Where is Zoony 🐵?
Me too but the same episode was on Talking TV channel on Saturday, if you can get the channel I think that it’s the start of a series of 60’s shows and it’s easier to watch on a full screen than on a monitor or phone screen. I’m in England so I hope that all who are fans can watch it.
I am currently working with a guy whom looks similar to Steve Zodiac .
Who wrote it?.

😂🤣😂
I was top kid in first grade in 1966 with my Fireball XL 5 lunch box. Life was good then. Even my teacher was impressed.
My very first lunch box was a Fireball XL 5 back in 1963.
Those must have been popular! I have one that I got from my parents. I had no idea what it was about until finding this just now.
Venus calls herself a 'tootie'! Must be slang for someone who does foolish things.
@@fearlessfosdick160 Mine was a Disneyland Tomorrowland lunch box. Fireball XL5 was my second.
I carried the James Bond 007 lunch box to school around those days.
I'm so excited to find these online. My friends thought I was crazy or dreamed this show up lol. I kept saying I remembered this show as a kid. I LOVED it. So cool to see it again!
Same here, my son wouldn't believe there was such show in those times
You have described my plight exactly. I loved this show as a child in rural WV. Once as a young adult I woke yelling loudly "FIREBALL XL5". Scared the girl I was with. Snippets of my early childhood are roaring back, the curved takeoff ramp, the rockets falling off after liftoff and others.
@@vibhadeshpande6925 and Vikki Colbert, people not around 60 years ago tend view things only from what they have been exposed to. One of the amazing things about these old shows is the intelligence that went into the production both in craftsmanship, as well as the writing and acting. Today, everything is a parody or derivative of "impressions" of what they have been exposed to without any depth or understanding. But most of all, there isn't much originality. Just a lot of inane and incessant dialogue with weak story material, if there is any.
Set it up on youtube and get'm into watch m8
robots
Strange, it was so long ago, yet as soon as I saw this I was six years old again. The definition and sound are amazing. I too had a toy spaceship and I love the retro futuristic designs. Robert the robot is a classic! All done without computer technology. Corny but endearing, reminds me of simpler times.
I felt the same I had the rocket and flew it great when it got caught in a whirlwind .
The series was such a calming influence after enduring difficulties of school .
I love Robert the Robot.
This reminds me of the thunderbirds..series in the 60's..
.with the puppets that looks like venquilitrist dummies
The Andersons and Company were creative geniuses. Period.
Original air date 28 October 1962. Uploaded by Shout! Factory April 5, 2021. Thank you, Shout! Factory. Good times, good times. I was 8 and thought the world was wonderful.
Thanks for the info. That means I was six when I watched this.
Actually, we were scared of nuclear war back then, but I know what you mean in general!
After over sixty years that was a good walk down memory lane ! thanks to all involved !😀
buy the dvd set
also Thunderbirds and UFO
And to think Mr. Wizard was replaced by this....
@@billkarmetsky4003 Mr. Wizard??? As in, Tooter Turtle???
I haven’t seen this series in over sixty years. It was one of my favourite shows.
Man that's a dim memory brought to life again. Only now I can appreciate the sheer weirdness, the period cliches, and the early sixties space age aesthetic in the design. It's a real artifact of its times, and still fun too. Thanks.
Man does this take me,back to happier times a kid I was 5 years old when this show came out. The world would be a better place if times were like this again I can watch these and forget everything.
My eyes today can’t believe how much I loved this show back then! Fireball XL5 was the bomb! I don’t recall what time it came on but I bet I knew then LOL…what great memories
In the UK it would have been either 5pm or 5.25 and I think it was on Mondays. I know it was shown on ITV
Loved this show as a kid, entertaining, inventive and gentle. Proud to be an old fart !
My favorite TV series in my childhood! So happy to find this episode here and to see again the characters! Thanks for it!
My favorite was Johnny Quest, but this was a close second. 🛸
Watched this episode recently on Talking Pictures TV, when the end credits came up along with the theme tune I was overcome with emotion. Took me right back to my granddad’s parlour where he used to let me watch it all those years ago, I’m 63 now and it seemed like yesterday.
I watch TPTV, and I check the listings every day, but I don't ever recall seeing Fireball XL5, as I would definitely have recorded it!
@@marcse7en Saturday (10/6/23) 14.30pm. Saw episode one last week.
@@EM-wd2vg You're right! It's on TPTV tomorrow! Can't think how I didn't spot it last week? I've got it on series link! Absolutely brilliant programme! You don't get TV of that quality nowadays!
Love it. Though you do ask how they space walked without a space suit ? 🤔 Happy times as a child though.
@@adamdorey4208 Oxygen pills, apparently! ... But HOW are they able to talk to each other in the vacuum of space? ... And WHY doesn't their blood boil and their heads explode? 😲💥🤣
Brilliant show though! 👍📺 ... I feel sorry for today's kids!
I was 8 years old in 1962 and loved watching it ❤💯💢💥💫
One of the greatest intros of music of all time. Stuck in my head for decades until RUclips came along and I found it again. Scary good show for its time back in the 60s
I always thought that someone in this production was very fond of the saxophone
I was 3yrs old when I started watching this great kid show , I was really moved when I found this
Thank you so much for this. It was my favorite show as a child.
I had a model of the rocket as a kid. What a prized possession. Great series. 😮
Man, 30 seconds in I was sold, this is awesome, was born in '65 so I don't remember the series. The 60s had some great childrens programming. RUclips comes through again.
Used to love this as a kid before i grew up and the dreams of a future stopped 😢
I remember as a kid racing home to watch Fireball XL5. When I arrived my dad was watching a film on the other channel and I did not get to see it. I must have been really annoyed for that memory to be still with me about 6 decades later. 🙂 Great video - thanks.
I would look forward to watching The Avengers!
I got Batman-blocked by my family for one episode and I'm still butt hurt about it
Love that take off run. Venus really kept me glued to the tube.
Even as a kid I was entranced by the female puppets. It’s built into our DNA.
Holy Cow, I watched SO MUCH OF THIS and The Thunderbirds when I was kid...LOVED IT!
I have not seen one of this show since the 60s showings (NYC). So happy to hear the excellent closing credits song!
Wow , this brings back a few memories , as Bob Mortimer would say " fingerprints on an abandoned handrail" loved this show and the quality of the picture is great .
That is a great quote
They say Nostalgia isn't what it used to be. I dont agree, I absolutely loved this as a kid, as well as Stingray, Space Patrol, Thundetbirds etc etc . Watching this, I'm 8yrs old again.😅
I remember watching this after junior school at a friends house. We didn't get a tv until 1962. The best episode i ever remembered was they walked through some zig-zag doors, followed by some alien robots that got crushed. I am amazed, i joined in with the song at the end all the hairs stood up on my arms and i am 68.
Saturday mornings for me in 1963- 1964
For the early 60s and considering the technology, this show looks damn good!
It's like I was 5 years old again 🥲 Thanks for the memories ❤🇨🇦
OMG!! THIS was my childhood!! I had a Fireball XL-5 full-size toy, when I was a kid and that was my go-to plaything!
Full size? She gave the impression of being as big as a 747!
So did I. I remember later there was a Robot - Robbie - with a marvellously singysongy voice.... his signoff was "OnnnOurWay 'Ome....."
This was cutting edge stuff in 1962!!! The space program was just taking off, James Bond in “Dr. No” was a hit! Bonanza & Laramie were on TV! I was only 7 but I couldn’t decide whether I wanted to be an astronaut, a “double naught” spy or a cowboy.
Don't forget My Favorite Martian. 😁
Wonderful memories of Sunday afternoons! That haunting song at the end never grows stale...
Great to see Venus doing lunch and coffee. These were great in the 60's thanks for posting. Steve Zodiac Huh - Professor Matthew Matic - wow.
I was only 5 when this came out. Loved it as a kid. Used to run around school with my friends playing Steve and Robbie. I can still sing the words to the closing credits. Loved Robbie's cockney accent.
I LOVED THIS when I a little kid!!! 😆What a Flashback! Thanks for the Memories ✌️
I still love the shape of that craft. As a kid I tried to make a LEGO spaceship that had the same attributes. Actually, I liked the shape of most of the Anderson crafts. We used to joke about all those launch platforms piled up behind that hill.
We must be the same age! I did too, very crude but I was proud of it! Until "put that bloody lego away, it's tea (dinner) time" from downstairs!
Great to hear that theme again! Loved it then, love it now. And the rest of the show was good, too! Great quality!
En esa epoca era tal mi fasinacion ,que me llevó a fabricar una replica del XL5 .
This show along with Supercar stared my lifelong interest in science fiction.
Yes ...Supercar....I thought I was the only one who remembered that.!!!
First thing l remember watching on TV as a 4 or 5 year old.
Ya... I'm old.
heh.
Saw comments about Fireball while watching Thunderbirds. Found this vid. Awesome stuff!
CGI doesn't come close to the technical marvels I was watching as a kid. Fireball XL5 and Thunderbirds were space dramas light years before their time!
Totally agree, I was born in 1954, I loved Thunderbirds, Stingray, Fireball XL 5 , Joe 90 , … Voyage to the bottom
Of the Sea…great to be able to see the episodes on RUclips such great memories of that time and the innocence of our childhood.., pure gold ⭐️⭐️⭐️
model building and designer masters
Thunderbird & Stingray! We were lucky kids!
Ok Boomer
HOW ABOUT THE MOUTH OF CLUTCH CARGO!
Watched this show when I was a kid. Wow, the quality of these Shout videos are amazing.
I was 6 in 62. Liked this and the others Andersen put out. Supercar, Stingray, Fabulous TBiirds👍
Not forgetting the one that started the Anderson empire, 'Four Feather Falls'
Fantastic series. I have all the episodes on VHS tape. Another good show was 'Space Patrol', also a marionette show and even harder to find than Fireball XL5.
So happy to find this. I loved this show sixty years ago. Fantastic image and sound quality. Thank you for posting it.
Absolute favorite show of my brother and I in the early 60’s. Still love the music
At last I found the very first kids animated show in my life ...I was searching for it , since I found youtube...Thanks for uploading
Note: In 1963 on a black and white set of that era, you could not see the strings.
As a kid...I never saw the strings.
I know this series is from 60s but it used to get aired in India in early 80s. Watched it as a Kid and loved the title song even though couldn't understand English then.
It was the end credits song that brought it all back, it must have been nearly 60 years since this series inspired me.
Absolute classic. It's the reason my childhood interest was fired by all things cosmic.
My younger brother and I were glued to the T.V. when this show came on. I went nuts when a classmate of mine in 2nd grade came to school with a Fireball XL5 lunchbox.
"FIREBALL XL5" WAS A BRITISH PRODUCED SCIENCE FICTION TELEVISION PROGRAM SET IN THE YEAR 2062 FOR CHILDREN IN THE EARLY 1960'S THAT HAD 39 HALF-HOUR EPISODES WHICH RAN FROM OCTOBER 28 , 1962 TO OCTOBER 27, 1963 . THIS WAS NOT A CARTOON BUT A "SUPERMARIONATION" SHOW USING ELECTRONIC MARIONETTES . ALL EPISODES WERE ORIGINALLY FILMED IN BLACK AND WHITE .
I was only 3 years old when this came out and I remember it fondly.. I even had the toy spaceship
That’s awesome. I wasn’t alive when it came out but my dad showed it to me and I’ve been a fan ever since.
This was the only Gerry Anderson series to have been broadcast in the United States on a major broadcast network (NBC-TV between1963 and 1965 on Saturday mornings).
All of Anderson's other TV series aired in the United States through syndication to individual TV stations.
All were shown in the UK.
I loved this show. I watched it on my black & white TV when I was growing up in Los Angeles. It brought tears to my eye's seeing it again 🥲. Thank You from the bottom of my heart. ❤
Remember " Supercar"?
so much fun to watch huge gerry anderson fan thanks for uploading this episode shout factory
Fireball XL5, thunderbirds, Joe 90. Stingray, Capt Scarlet. The Andersons gave us so much enjoyment as kids all those years ago.
Supercar.
My childhood memories👌👌
I remember watching this as a kid in the 1960s. ,👍🏻 🍿
For a little puppet show in the 60s, that was surprisingly enjoyable and the effects didn't even take away from it. They actually looked good.
I'm 71, i haven't seen this since i was a kid, still love the escapism.
And here we are....we old duffers...watching Fireball all together!
What a blast from the past. I remember Playing with these toys while watching the program on Saturday morning.
Steve Zodiac... wowzers, what a guy!
I’m 65 and watched this as a kid.
One Christmas I got the extensive play set with all the molded figurines and vehicles
"Look Venus, a door. This can only mean one thing". Love the dialogue.
I purposely chose afternoon kindergarten so I could watch this puppet cartoon every morning! It's been a memory for these past 62 years and just pops up on RUclips this morning. Wow!
Ah, those Saturday mornings back in the 60s..... a bowl of cereal and the XL5 gang.
Im 63 now. Loved this as a kid. Had a toy of fireball xl5
This brings back wonderful carefree memories of childhood. I loved this show. It’s great to find it again after 60 years and still loving it
No computer animation no blue screen no artificial intelligence. Such great detail and craftsmanship.
it looks like literal shitballs
This is great, but so sre those other techniques.
So glad I found this finally!! I couldn't remember the name of it, but I loved it at 9 yrs old!!!
I never knew this show, only the more famous Thunderbirds and Stingray. This has lots of Space 1999 vibes (or perhaps should I say the other way around) and I like it.
They have just started putting these on talking Tv on a safe afternoon brings back so many memories
Great production values, quality show.
This is unbelievable!!!! 🤩. I used to see this in the 1980s on Doordarshan TV channel, India. Was my favorite after school pass time!! 😁🐨🐼🐹. 6-6-2023. The other one was Giant Robot which I think was of Japanese origin.
Finding this is brilliant I am 65 this year and I loved watching this as a kid along with thunderbirds etc
"Make me a sandwich Venus"
Happy days 😂
I love it that, in the opening credits, they give Steve Zodiac star billing like he was a real actor.
🤨What are you implying?
GOD BLESS AMERICA!
@@tessdurberville711BLESS YOU'RE HEART.
@@williammoody6600 What's America got to do with any of it?
One of my most favorite shows and the best toy spaceship.
This takes me back a lot of years. I haven't seen it since I was around 5 and I'm 64 now. It wasn't the first Anderson puppet show. That was Supercar. But that is before my time. 'On our way 'ome!'
Four Feather Falls was his first
This was shown on TV the year before I was born 😊
Managed to see a few when they were shown in the 80's I think. Good fun 😊
All the puppets you ever need and no strings attached.
I'm getting up there but I remember this show well. Thanks for jarring the memories.
I had forgotten this. Thanx!
This, plus THC equals perfection.
The coolest opening of any TV show ever. Sled rockets to space!! I'd love learn about the prop and set making. The marionettes - meh - who cares? But those sets? The rocket blasts.
There's a book about the series written by Sylvia Anderson.
The vehicles actually were a workaround as the marionettes could not convincingly walk. Gerry Anderson embraced this workaround and turned it into an art form.
"I'd fly you 'round the universe, in Fireball XL5".
STARTED ON TALKING PICTURES (CHANNEL 445 on virgin, but on freeview as well) on 3.6.2023 at 2.35pm! whole series/all episodes! :) I watched it when I was a kid around 1960 ! lovely stuff!
FANTASTIC! Thanx so VERY much!
Impressive show, I use to watch this show when I was a first grade, (1966), you could see the threads, that make impressive how they can move it so well
best show i've seen in years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I had the model of the XL5, spent hours playing with it copying the episodes we were watching.
Many thank you's. so much memories, subbed.
Me vacilaba un montón con esta serie y me recuerda mi edad de 5 años
Espectacular el XL5 ,soy de LimacPerú.
The creative process was painstaking - no CGI back in the day!
This sure brings back old memories !! I remember this series when I was a kid !
I remember seeing the XL-5 toy I wonder what that would be worth. It never would have survived my childhood!
Im so pleased growing up is optional. I opt to not grow up.
Watching this and finding i still love it is so encouraging !!!
💘
The real start of the Gerry Anderson world, with all due respect to Torchy the Battery Boy, Four Feather Falls and Supercar.
This was the first time to see global organisations, uniforms and ranks, buildings and of course the amazing machines, which became the model for XL5, Stingray and Thunderbirds.
I loved Super Car !!
@@JimBischoff1184 My favorite! Absolutely best theme song EVER too!😁👍
