    This is not just a screaming deal, this may be one of the best deals of all time. Its practically new. Even though its over 25 years old. Congratulations on a fine purchase. I hope you keep it.

    That's an awesome car, the last one I owned was also an '82. I had an '88, '87, and '86. The '88 was my first, back in 1999, and I wanted to replace the opera light on the driver's side. I was told that if one could be located, the price would be around $300 because of the unusual design. I'll be watching out for another though to fix up and keep for a good long time.

  • @rave323
    @rave323 14 лет назад +2

    Wow, that's an amazing car for the price. Someone locally had the same car, only an 86. It's for sale for $3500, and is triple burgandy. All original. Wish I could buy it, but, the wife says no. I'll just have to keep looking for the next gem.

    Eleven hundred bucks? Wow, were you lucky! And in great shape too. I would hunger for a car like that! Yours has a 318, doesn't it? That's the engine to have; a small number of 1982 and '83s had the Slant Six. The 318 became the only engine available in the M-bodies starting in 1984.

      These cars were notorious for breaking down after 3 years or so. My father worked for chrysler back then and he told me there were a large amount of New yorkers he help build that were just sitting there collecting dust. They looked high class even for today's standards. I guess this is what it means to put all your eggs in One basket

    Awesome. You bought yourself a new car for only $1100. Doesn't use much gas, practical box styling, 5mph bumpers and stunning compared to modern cars (which cost about $20,000!).
    No need to buy a more expensive car than your neighbor; these cars are in league of their own.

      This car would have been equipped with either a 225 Slant Six or a 318 cu v8. These were fairly economical runners. They weren't the huge New Yorkers of the seventies, they were based on a larger version of the Aspen/Volaré platform.

    Yes I'm commenting 11 years after the fact but I had a car just like this one.. I owned it for about one year in the mid-1990s and then traded it with someone for a 1983 Trans Am... He had a family and I was single at the time so it seemed like a logical switch for us... Both cars hed a V8 but were slow as horsepower sucked overall in the early 80s

  • @thunderheads4103

    I wouldn't replace the locks on it. If you happen to lock yourself out by mistake, then you don't have anything to put your wire hanging around LOL. That happened to me twice in my gran Fury. My gran Fury is not in as nice shape as your Fifth Avenue but mine has 22400 original miles on it. The person who had it let it sit out in the sun in South Texas and it was under a tree and the paint is faded in many different places even though it was in the shade. The Shady Parts have their gloss, but the parts that were in the sun are definitely flat black and has a few good dents on the side with one nasty scratch running down the passenger side. That must have been from some piece of lawn equipment or something that got propped up against the car

    I suppose 1982 was the first year for the Fifth Avenue cars and they stop in 1989 and 1990 that's when they come out with the New Yorker cars

    • @petdogdfw
      @petdogdfw 8 лет назад

      This body style was built through 1989. In 1990 it became a FWD car with a V6 with Fuel Injection. Chrysler built a smaller New Yorker based on the K car platform until a redesigned bigger New Yorker was introduced in 1988.

      As in Chrysler's idea to compete against Cadillac? The 1977 LeBaron (which is the same car as this, but with slightly different styling) would have been the main Seville competitor at the time.
