I just ordered the game and it should be here next week. I've downloaded the rules from GMT and am going through them so this was great to help understand the game better. I really appreciate the feeling the game captures for what we can only imagine for what it was like for a submarine crew to be under such deadly attacks. Appreciate you and Mike taking the time to teach the game. I wish I had found this channel sooner. BTW Tony, and I mean this with only respect, but has anyone told you that you sound exactly like the NCIS character Jimmy Palmer? I will watch the next two parts as well. Mike is such a patient man to help out the fans.
Awesome episode. I watched the earlier Vassal episode. Really helped learning the game. I've played two training missions and two patrols. I think that I'm not doing the ASW attacks correctly. On the players aid it says to draw two battle cards to check for sonar, I noticed that you only drew one. Also if the captain is not aggressive and the sub is at or below 30 meters it also reads the escort will not attack with depth charges. He does keep pinging him though to keep him underwater. If you can clarify that I would appreciate it! GREAT GAME btw 👍 👍
You might have figured out by now, but I think you're looking at the Attack Map rules/player aid, when the combat happened entirely on the Approach Map. On Approach, you only draw one card to do Sonar check (P41) and the Captain is always Aggressive and skips to Attack Procedure (P50).
Learned a lot from this play and teach. I was wondering when does the Captain of the Escort get revealed? Question on healing crew. In the rule book pg. 64 indictes, if I am reading correctly, you can heal crew memebers if in 'Operational or Silent Running' so why did you not try to heal your crew?
If you are in silent running on the approach map and during the movement phase you roll and end up on the attack map, since you can’t move in silent running do you still move to the attack map? Thanks for the content 👍
@@markwillis9186 No worries it is a good question to ask and if we could it would have been a great idea. This is one that makes this game fun is the ability to upgrade your crews.
@@TonysBoardLife correct none of our crew have the ability at this point possibly other second patrol, we may start to upgrade their medical capabilities.
If it was a turn that Mike's u-boat could move could he have left the area with the Escort? If he could move out of the area would the escort move with him if not what would happen to the esccort on the next ASW search? (The ASW section is one I just have trouble understanding.)
The ASW card drawn has a white box in a location that has and Escort and a U-Boat and the Escort found the U-Boat on the previous turn with a range of 3. The range now is 2 but the battle card did not have green check mark what is the procedure?
Wow, what a great demo! Learned a few things me and partner were doing a bit wrong.
Tremendously helpful for me, great job filling in the full picture of the game flow. Excited for the next part (whenever that may be. :) )
@hairbrainedgames3127 thanks I really enjoy showing games off.

Glad this is helpful!

Nice video. Should you have been attempting to heal injured crew during each damage control phase?
@markwillis9186 you can only heal if your crew has that upgrade. Right now it's not an option.
@@TonysBoardLife my bad! Thanks for the reply.

At time 2:06:21 should the Captain of the escort been flipped over (revealed at this time)?

I thought your boat was 90 m after you emergency dive to 30m then dove deeper in next 2 turns. ?😮

When the periscope got repaired, you drew a 4
Since the crew was LW should that have been a -1 drm turning it into a 3.
good catch we will fix it.
Ads every 5 minutes. 😢 Put depth charges on those.
Sorry not sure why they are so much. RUclips controls that.
