As a guitarist who was influenced by Ace, I wish somebody would ask him about his playing. For example, the 100,000 years solo - WTF?!?? That sucker is cool and pretty damn hard to play cleanly up to speed. Was that a bunch of technique exercises he came up with that he turned into a solo? Same with the Ozone solo. That sounds like a drill that he turned into a cool solo. Ace probably doesn’t remember or care at this point but if he wanted to get back to his roots, he should revisit his own early guitar work. The early stuff was HARD to play but it’s really cool. This shit’s never discussed. Ask him about his early playing sometime.
MusicStudent1, I feel your frustration!!! Some of his solos SEEMS doable, but... And when you think you finally got it - there's the 4 minutes insane solo he laid on Let Me Go Rocknroll... Ace is truly one of the greatest ever... Love from Sweden 💖
100,000s is based on song remains the same Ace said he Is influenced by clapton beck Townsend and Hendrix but " Studyed PAGE . I hear some skynrd in Kiss as well IMHO
I just remember being rather disappointed with New York Groove when it showed up on Kasey Kasems top 40 Radio Show..it wasn't at all what I was hoping Ace's Solo music would sound like.
Ace couldn't create with all the "idiots". Gene, Paul AND Peter! Who made him great! Great bashing, Ace! But not a great character. At least, now I'm glad to hear: Ace didn't want "New York Groove"! He was right. Eddie Kramer wanted this commercial hit to sell the album better. Did you notice? What Ace hated about Gene and Paul (a nightmare, 25 takes) he did himself (16 takes) for "Fire And Water"! And he doesn't even know how 🤣 he is. At least he acknowledged Paul's 🎤"Fire And Water". He was "thrilled". Nice to hear that from him. I'm still thrilled by Paul's version 🔥+🌊. Interesting interview👍
Ace sounds a bit "dry drunk" in this interview. Loved KISS as an elementary school kid. By 5th grade had sold all my KISS albums to some other kid in school once discovered the Beatles and then Zeppelin and the like.
I got bored and watched my friend's VHS Kiss Xtreme one night and they wet through the separate albums dedicates to on other. You'd think Gene's would be heavy because of the Demon theme. But the best he can come up with is " If you wish upon a star" and "A world with out hero's he's a lousy song writer he may as well added "Were off to see the Wizard" and "Sunny Day's" the Sesame St theme song. I thought Kiss was a fad and joke anyway 4 clowns playing bad pop rock music. Glad they sold there catalogue and are threw.
And without New York Groove that album would have been as bad as Gene's and Peter's records. But most of what Ace does is covers or written by someone else.
@@butters395 Well you are kinda right...but it was the disco sound (I was made for lovin' you ) and the fact the band ( Ace Included ) were from New York. That was what made it a hit. Others had recorded it and did it R7R not discoie.
Ace as usual, being ACE !!
Always fun listening to his interviews.
Well done.
Ace’s album was the best of the 4. Glad they put that song on it because it’s amazing (especially live) ❤️
Ace's record was my starting point as a guitarist. Also, the only one that didn't suck.
Gotta love ace. Love 10,000 volts
yeah well, I Love ACE, 10,000 Volts Not so much BUT did see him Live & did a Review on it.
Rock Soldier!! Ace is the man!! Keep rocking!!
Yeah, the reunion tour in '96/'97 the only post-Love Gun song was new york groove.

Ace is all pentatonic. But, hisxsense of timing is just or used to be impeccable. No doubt, my favorite lead player.
ACE B A B Y !!😛👍🏻
Ace
Hey now!
Gene Simmons still got a shed load of Silly Safes left to flog

Only comment: Space Ace.. The Man... How sadly they pissed on his legacy by painting the TT-word.
Love from Sweden 💖
Is that the guy who turned me down? 😂
Don’t worry you still have time
@@artistsonrecord but he might not 😬
