I am so sad that he is gone. He was a talent like very few others. My prayers and thoughts go out to his family. I listen to his songs every night as go off to sleep RIP KRIS you will live on in our hearts and your songs will keeps going.

I remember him as Rubber Duck from Convoy as a kid growing up. ABC would show the edited version on The Sunday night movie. Rest in Peace Mr. Kristofferson.

He Swindled "Friend" Mark to sign into a corporation, where he and the spineless bass player voted Mark Farner out of the band. What a total snake. After the band got screwed by Terry Knight, Don Brewer became worse than Knight

it's NOT GFR without Mark Farner. It's just a greedy, back-stabbing, piece of $%^& drummer, with a spineless bass player that screwed over a "Friend", Mark Farner, who was the essence of "Grand Funk Railroad". Mark was the writer, and the entertainer of the band.

I saw the original GFR in Jan 1975, reunited in 1997(Bosnia). I saw Mark solo in the 1980s and I saw the Don & Mel version with Karl & Kulick in the early 2000s. I used to follow everything related to GFR and wanted them to reunite so badly, but I’m past it. I know Farner is about what is right, Schacher is about the music & bass, and Brewer is about Brewer. I don’t want to see them together any more because I know only 2/3 of them would be playing from the heart.

I had to make another comment about GFR, like i said i saw them at age 12 in 1971 and was blown away. Fast forward years later to the 2010s and GFR was to play the LA county fair so my wife and i went. GFR came out on stage and there was NO FARNER, i did not know of the deceit within the bands other two members. Don Brewer had people playing that looked like they just got out of prison. The lead guitarist was a JOKE, Brewer never once said Happy Birthday to Mark Farner. Brewer also had on a full length fur coat and a ridiculous mad hatter hat looking a FOOL and acting a FOOL. I literally hid my head and had to leave the concert it was so horrible. I WONDERED WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED, now i know and shame on those other two. So if you go see GFR now days, you are NOT seeing GFR you are seeing an a--hole pretending people like him. I ever see him i will throw rotten fruit at him lol

In 1971 i saw GFR just after Live was released, blew me away i had never seen anyone like him before. I remember thinking wow this dude is beyond cool, dont remember being mesmerized by the drummer think his name was Bob or something like that. Not only is Farner a great musician but he is also a great person.

One of my lifelong dreams would be to see the original band members play a tour/reunion. I first became a fan back in the early 70s. Could you imagine the energy level from the fans if that were to happen?

Not only do I believe he was a genius---I also believe he was a PROPHET! He accurately predicted the demise of the hippie culture as far back as 1966 when it was just getting off the ground! The man could see the future!

I don't know how many times I have to say it---we are losing so many of his rock generation born between 1940 and 1960 by the week. Mark, Don and Mel are still alive for a reason, and the sooner they realise it and put their differences aside---the better.
