  • Friday September 1st 2017. A great day in the history of our Royal Canadian Air Force. The old colours were paraded and marched off for the last time, and the new colours of the RCAF were consecrated. The RCAF has only been presented new colours twice before. This was a once in a generation event, and a very proud day.

It forever angers me the way Americans (and especially American movies) almost totally overlook the major contributions that Canadians made in WWI, WWII and Korea. Canadians were there on D-Day at the beaches of Normandy, Canada was the main liberator of the Netherlands (that's why Canadians are honoured by the Dutch), Canadians played a major role in the Italian campaign and Canada was the main escort for Atlantic convoys. Be proud Canada of your accomplishments.

Haha, quite right. This might be a rare exception here: ruclips.net/video/g1awwAgU_t8/видео.html

it angers me as well as a Brit, America overlooks not just Canada's involvement but also the rest of the Commonwealth imperial forces and in the rare case we are portrayed we are depicted as lazy or incompetent, if someone was to base their entire historical knowledge of the second world war on American media you would think the only real allied force was that of the U.S. ,for example, like you said, despite 3 out of the 5 beaches on D-Day being non-American imperial forces never mind the complete neglect of the U.S. media coverage of the Soviet Union's contribution.

I know the feeling! When I was a Cadet, I felt the same way. Attended this event in my Army Cadet full dress uniform. Now as a CIC Officer, I still greatly appreciate all the hard work and drill put in by everyone. It was a great parade. Glad that you're having a good time in Cadets and you're happy with your drill improvements! Bravo Zulu (well done)!

Ridiculous that the colour for the airforce is not even consecrated at an airfield !

Probably because they wanted a public show out of it. Probably easier to do that in a dense population center.
