After many years of celebrating the diaspora and interviewing prominent diasporans, we have decided to set up the Diaspora Transition. The Diaspora Transition Network is a membership-based network for African Diasporans and returnees of various heritage currently residing in Ghana. This network will be a community for information sharing, skills exchange, cultural awareness, and a space for doing and discussing business. Stephanie Adu is a British-born Ghanaian, and the founder and Chief Executive of the award-winning beauty brand Colorbox Cosmetics Ltd.
Stephanie moved to Ghana in 2014 to establish the affordable luxury brand, which focuses on catering to the beauty needs of modern yet often underserved women of color. Stephanie’s passion and experience within the beauty industry span across 14 years, with vast experiences including numerous client-facing roles, developing efficient operational logistics and head spearing innovative marketing strategies. Adjacent to pursuing her passion, Stephanie gained a degree in Biomedical Science majoring in Pharmacology from King’s College London. Stephanie then went on to pursue a dynamic career in Investment Banking, where she worked as a global equity sales-trader at Morgan Stanley in London. Within this role, Stephanie traded stocks across a variety of sectors including that of established global cosmetics companies. Stephanie’s banking career is largely responsible for fuelling her business acumen, which inspired the leap into the world of entrepreneurship to pursue her passion.
Stephanie has built Colorbox Cosmetics into a major player within the Ghanaian beauty industry, with the brand winning Digital Commerce & Marketing Brand 2020 and Product of the Year in the 2019 Makeup Ghana Awards. Stephanie also won Beauty Entrepreneur of the year 2020.
Colorbox Cosmetics develops and hand selects its own line of products and also distributes to various countries outside of Ghana, such as Nigeria, Kenya and many more.
Aside from her professional commitments, Stephanie is passionate about empowering expatriates to explore entrepreneurship opportunities in Ghana through an initiative called ‘Move 2 Ghana’, and also is a frequent speaker at empowerment and motivational events both on and offline, across Ghana and the U.K. Stephanie’s ambition, vision, and entrepreneurial spirit are the forces driving her commitment to become a prominent African business role model, with a recognizable legacy for upcoming generations.

Indeed. And this perception isn't a mere illusion. In term of political stability, the political structure sustain it while in other countries such as Togo at East of Ghana, violence, terror of the 60 years old bloody and dynastic tyranny is the political structure, the stability isn't real at all. In Ghana the political leaders doesn't use issue related to development to justify a denial of freedom of the people. The people in Ghana aren't persecuted, killed, deprived, ruined by a political system
Indeed I am not from Ghana I am a Togolese but I too strongly believe that GHANA as A HAVEN ”and I would say A haven of awakening.
Togo isn’t that bad. There is room for improvement but there is no heavy persecution of the government unless you are attempting to enter political circles. More so neglect of the country and lack of active involvement on making the country better.
@@livingfinance There is always room for improvement of everything. No one is saying the problem is there isn't room for improvement. If you say there is no heavy persecution of the government UNLESS YOU ARE ATTEEMPTING TO ENTER POLITICAL CIRCLES, then you are describing a very bad situation. Thousands innocents have been killed because they were suspected of wiling to do this and that, thousands have been arrested and disappeared. A country that is a dictatorship since almost six decades is a curse. If you have experimented what the regime at Togo really is, really represent, then it means you have perceived the reality of the absolute evil and the nature of the devil.

Good interview. Africa will be built by the youths not the older people because they do not see the entrepreneurial possibilities the same way and the ingrained idea of just living in the West is fulfilling to most and I can understand how that state of mind is hard to change. She said it well "its all about positioning".
Africa is being built by both youth and the older people. There is strength is oneness and oneness is the way to build and Africa is rising with older folk and the youth.
It is truly exciting, we are grateful for our parents to move out of africa, we gained exp knowledge in the West and can use exp with our fellow africans at home to build

Don't fall into the foolish western way of thinking about 'generational divide'. All ages have things to contribute. Youth brings a new way of thinking, freshness, etc. Older people bring valuable experience - no point reinventing the wheel, etc.
ALL ages bring a desire to see Ghana (or Nigeria or Jamaica or wherever) be BETTER.
@@jackiedelvalle Oops, you did not read my post or understood the point. I always advise people to read the comment carefully. Generational "divide" was not suggested in my post, I simply drew a "contrast" but since you mentioned it, be sure it is NOT a Western concept. It exists wherever you can see stratification within demographics. The central thesis of my comment is that younger people see possibilities in Africa, are more exploratory and want to challenge themselves with new ideas in entrepreneurship. Older folks went to EU for greener pastures and most had given up on the domestic system. That's critical thinking in verbal reasoning. No attempt to lecture you. Be well, thanks.

Stephanie said everything right EXCEPT ONE: Nigerians are NOT more patriotic than Ghanaians. In fact, the level of negativity Nigerians have about their own country is disturbing, and I have often wondered why. Ghanaians may complain about happenings in Ghana, yes, but no way are Nigerians more patriotic than Ghanaians, unless I don't understand patriotism.

I agree that we don't do well supporting each other in Ghana, as we do foreigners, and that's a terrible shame! But I understand patriotism as "devotion to and vigorous support for one's country" and that being the definition, the idea that Nigerians are more patriotic than Ghanaians is incorrect. You only have to listen to the average Nigerian talk about Nigeria for two minutes and just about everything you would hear about their country will be negative. Ghanaians, by comparison, are proud of Ghana, even if we criticize and make all the noise about the many deficiencies in our system. Maybe Nigerians support their fellow countrymen more than we do our own. If that's the case, good for them. But that is not the classic definition of patriotism.

She confused patriotism with supporting each other. Yes Nigerians support each other in business better than Ghanaians. Just look at how the Nigerian youtubers collaborate. But no other African nation is more patriotic and proud of who they are than Ghanaians. We are just not very loud about it. And in Ghana we see ourselves as Ghanaians first before tribes. Which is almost nonexistent in Nigeria where you are igbo, yoruba or hausa first. Kwame Nkrumah helped the nation a lot with the boarding school system which integrated us very well and made us able to speak each other's language and become familiar with each other. She's a very bright young lady but uninformed about Ghana in that regard. We learn everyday.
