Again, astonishing work Chris. I knew Jones was bad, but I couldn’t imagine it was this bad. Broderick’s body language looks like he doesn’t want to be on the field, like when someone tries to phone it in at work.
I think he's experiencing the dreaded sophomore slump. If he can work his way through this, he'll be a better player. I would start with the basic fundamentals, and getting his mindset right.
I hope BroJo doesn't turn out to be one of the lazy and gifted athletes. I hope he turns this around and he has a long and celebrated career as a Steeler.
Has all the tools and none of the want to. If he simply finished blocks he would be an above average OT. If he sorted his technique and stopped ducking into pass rushers and allowing them to gain leverage he could be special. Truly wonder how things would've gone had PS taken their lumps with him at LT last season. Though TBF through 2 games Dan Moore is playing excellent football. TF by comparison is finishing plays and it shows. Folks are already giving up on Jones but way too early for that. They do need someone to get in his head and fast or this will continue.
Everyone always talks about TJ being held but Highsmith has been being held several times every game for 3 years now and no one is mentioning that. Not that the holding of TJ shouldn’t be brought up but it’s going on on the other side too.
Broderick was not pass protecting well the last 3 games of the season (last year), so although an injury can make this even worse, it is not the root of the problem. They should just pick a side of the offensive line for Broderick, let him heal up, and keep him there. He was dominant at LT his last year in college, (over 800 snaps-no sacks allowed-1 QB hit), so it makes sense for him to stay on the left side. The constant switching does him no favors (nor the Steelers).
Also, with the pass to GP that Jones gets called holding on - Fields should have climbed the pocket and then made the throw. There was a lane for him to get up. Obviously it is easier said than done but that would help the tackles out a lot.
Jones has long arms which should be an asset to him. Jones should be further along and could be special. Jones did not take the off season to work on his core strength in his arm and legs. He has poor posture when he walks. Looks lazy in his blocks. Plays like I’m unhappy about not playing left tackle so I will stink a right tackle. His mind was not on the game. There has to be an internal problem with his coaches.
I beleive Broderick is hurt obviously its affecting his play on the field. Hes been wearing that elbow brace since preseason. Also Jones's natural position is left tackle. Theres noway he is this bad at right tackle when last year he was one of the best on the line. So did he take that much of a step backwards? Or is the injury affecting his ability to play his game? His a quote for you. " I'm as healthy as I'm going to be " .
No, Moore has earned his spot and given his play so far, no complaints. He will get a severe test v the Chargers and if he passes that? PS oline looks set. Jones will have to play the Max Starks role. Which may in the long run be the best outcome. Max got better and better, then became a very solid starter.
@@DKPS_Steelers Play it normal speed from the same angle you are showing, not the broadcast footage. It is frustrating hearing you talk about a play for a minute, before we see the play. Moat’s shows the play full speed, then breaks it down…
I really like having you break down these plays. Very interesting! Thanks, Chris!!
Great breakdown
Really insightful. Thanks Chris!
it looks like Broderick is not giving effort on every play ... not doing his job
Thank you for this, I’ve been so curious about what’s been going on with jones. Hopefully he fixes things quickly, great analysis Chris!
Awesome break down Chris, thank you very much.
Thank you for the great analysis and content

Relax
A referee will call that a hold every time, unless the guy he is holding is T.J…
Great job, Chris.

Chris really good job ,Broderick Jones NEEDS benched

That is maybe the prettiest Pass I have ever seen.
Even the rep at 13:00 you praised him on, was it really that great? He used bad technique, and just pushed a guy who was already blocked, wow.
Zack is a mauling beast that plays to the whistle. He buries his man. His being a four year wrestling champion shows with how he understands leverage.

The play ends until it ends.
Not the best rep from Daniels at 10:38 either. Fortunately Fields was already throwing the ball.

What can be done about these reffs?🖤💛💪
Thank you. I would love the wrong side narrative to die down. As he is for some reason playing much worse at the same position as last year...

Honestly this is a hot take. Trade him. Maybe wait to get everyone healthy but go he’s doing so bad. No effort and not doing his job on run blocking
He needs to be at left tackle and compete with Moore.
Moore is playing better right now. This isn't about sides, it's about effort. - Chris
@@DKPS_Steelers he is naturally a left tackle. He was drafted as that position. He deserves a shot to compete for the position he is best at.

@@quentinsimeon3008 Mate even at LT in pre-season and camp he was struggling. You don't just hand someone a position because of draft spot.
@@jlm4455 no one says to hand anybody anything. I’m saying he should be competing with Moore for the LT position.
Chris do you think jones could play Guard?
He's plenty capable of playing tackle. Just needs to finish blocks. - Chris
You should show the play first at normal speed, before you start talking about it, imo.
Can't. That video isn't our property, so you'd kill our ability to monetize this episode. -
