If you could MAKE a photo of anything, in any location, what would you do?
Would photograph an abandoned building with lights inside and creepers outside.
@PeterMcKinnon an apocalyptic style of TRON, where the video game has become reality and smashed our idea of what we think is normal and thrown us into a Mad Max style civilization, but with more modern tech. I can just see a beat up, rusted, light-cycle in the middle of the desert with a rider barely clinging on in a tattered riding suite trying to face the open abyss chasing down the remains of a color trail from another bike.
@@PeterMcKinnon I’d love to one day attempt to make photos of some of my favorite video game scenes. Growing up with arguably some of the best games of all time, and THEN being able to attempt to capture those masterpieces in person would be exhilarating.
Something to do with ninjas........ Damn dude, you and Matt are so inspiring. Thank you for this and all the inspiration!
Doesn't have too much to be satisfied. A nice car like a Ferrari, in the garden of a castle with a girl in a really nice dress.
What a perfect gift. Friendship is a 2 way street dude. I hope he appreciates his day through your eyes 🤙
Yea that’s beyond thoughtful honestly
Ever since you first told us about this a few videos back, I have been on a mission to Make Photos vs Take Photos, and it has been sooo rewarding! Thanks for getting me out of a rut, Pete!🏴☠️
Haha it's literally something I always keep in mind now. I write it down in every new notebook I start on the second page :)
That part
@@PeterMcKinnon What's on the first page?
PLEASE more of this! This was so inspiring and made me excited to shoot again. My photography is also like this going to abandoned places and having a story behind it. Due to health problems I had to stop my photography and now seeing this video made me so happy and excited to start again. Matt Barns creative mind is amazing. Thank You. : )
Wow. What an experience. He trusts his idea, how ever long it took to curate it in his mind, in images, and then bam, bam, bam done. I imagine his experiences brought trust that first moment of capture usually the best. I remember when I was acting in film, it was always the first, or maybe second take that was the best. Not one 10-30 times after. Something to really ponder as a life lesson. Thanks for showing this, Pete.
I just LOVE how you and your work evolve and that you have the courage to let amazing things have had it's place in time. You're not an influencer Pete, you're inspiration.
Always so inspiring to see you in action, Peter! Another great video in the books
Than you very much! :)
As sports creative I've been searching for more lately that doesn't involve a ball or jersey. Seeing you with Matt has motivated me to shine light on my fellow creatives, weather it be street photographers, tattoo artist or musicians. Thank for this Peter this was beautiful and sacred at the same damn time.
Love to hear it! best of luck! Thanks for giving the time to watch!
Thanks
It's actually inspiring and encouraging to see a pro enjoy his craft. I have actually learnt the difference between making and taking a photo
That is such a different perspective from what I usually shoot (events...)... I love love love that setup/planning phase... and how quickly it wrapped up with "less than a minute"... so cool...
It’s been so good to watch your videos again. About 4 years ago I got into photography with a Fuji XT3 and fell in love with everything about it photos and video. I had to sell all of the equipment because I had car troubles during Covid. I gained so much knowledge from your videos that I always wanted to buy a Nomadic camera bag as show of gratitude. Plus they look the best. I’m pleased to say I’m almost at the point where I’ll need that bag as I’m getting back into it, this time going for a Canon R3 set up. Keep up the good work, you are truly inspiring.
I was going to rewatch this, then I saw it was gone. Very glad it has been re-uploaded! more content like this
The fraction of a second in this where someone was nailing a raw chicken to the wall is the highlight of my day so far, thank you
I’ve tried to push this concept on my channel for a long time. I think a lot of people blush over it but it’s very important. I’m glad someone like yourself is doing this with a much greater reach. Most people think they can get away with natural light and everything that they do however, photography is not about just one type of light. It’s about the best light. What you showcase here was a perfectly set up scene which took sometimes to put together, but when the time came to take the photograph , you all were done in a blink of an eye. Thank you again and hopefully one day a small channels can make a difference in the same way that you are today.
This has become an absolute must for me. Making over taking has given me another set of eyes so to speak leaving me looking at everything wondering what I could create out of it
Your videos are a breath of fresh air, always enjoy watching
Wow! This is the most insane setup I’ve ever seen. Way to go Matt, and also Pete for capturing this. Just wow.
Matt has a great point about making things inside of you. Thanks to you both for a solid reminder. 👍🏻
Thanks as always for continuing to propagate creativity Peter!
Doing my best! haha thanks for watching!
Matt’s dedication is absolutely infectious. Great video!!😍
Such a simple sentence really has shifted my perspective 10x more than any tutorial or piece of insight has. I’ll keep taking photos but making them is so much more fascinating to me now and I am dialed in on that
I really liked the last video of this you made, but this was even better!
There are times witch are rare to see in life. Pure emotion and bliss. While you where laying down with him you could see it in his eyes and you could hear it in his voice. He was really in love with the photo he made... God damn!!! well done really
Love it!!! My professor in college would’ve loved this guy during our “constructed reality” project
Haha mat barnes IS the professor. Dudes a beast
Brilliant, one of the best vids put up on this channel in ages. Need more of this
I literally teared up at the end of this. What an incredible experience this must have been.
I watched this on the Vision Pro… glorious
Love your creativity, it's inspiring!
My old band was told to go a studio somewhere in Toronto to shoot something for a show called 'disband'. During breaks we walked around and I noticed these amazing portraits, some were of large groups of people. All of them were styled and coloured and exposed so beautifully and creatively and I remember thinking WHo the WHAt the F*ck, how did you capture this???? So epic! It opened my mind further to what photographs could be. We were in Matt Barnes' studio.
Wow ... Amazing ... Wow ... Thank you, Peter! This video is such a gift and truly inspiring. Thank you so much. Just what I needed right now. All the best to you and your team and everyone who benefits from this video!
Love the video Pete. You should do another video of editing people’s photos, always hooks me
I really enjoyed this episode ...great job
This changes everything for me moving forward
100%
Wowzers that one connected and inspired. Don’t think I’ve ever commented on a RUclips post but yeah, this was amazing! Thank you PM and MB👏🏽🙏🏽
Man I miss this!!!! Awesomeness
You all guys are next level !!! It´s awesome to watch this kind of content
So much to take in here. A full master class for sure. Thanks Pete.
Matt Barnes is a beast. Love seeing him again on the channel
He really is. Every time we hang out I leave absolutely stoked.
This was epic, loved it
This is such an inspiring and amazing video, WOW, I love it so much! Thanks for sharing 🙌
This was a fantastic video, and one of the best you've put out in a while. I hope that this becomes a bit of a "series", so to speak, where we get to go behind the scenes with more people and experiences like this. Seriously, awesome and inspiring video, Peter. Thanks for making this one. (Wish it could've been a bit longer, though!)
It’s just amazing to see the genius/madness of a great artist live. What a great opportunity!
Wow wow wow - What a great visionary. Goosebumps for days. I am now inspired again!
I can’t imagine walking away. I have such a hard time leaving shoots. If I had an eternal golden hour and an infinite memory card, I’d never stop. What a cool video, man. Love ya.
So stoked for this vid!
Same :)
Thank you for this inspiring video. I was ready to give up on photography for good.
It's been months that I've been trying to photograph with the same passion as I did before, but it just feels like it's lost.
this video has given me some hope. Thank you!
Absolutely insane! That album also looks beautiful! Where did you get it made??
Absolutely insane, amazing dedication
Taking some pics of you ripping about in a raptor or your on quad bike and getting some epic b roll videos while im there 🔥🤟.
How creative is this chap. Pure quality both ways video and photography! mind blown.
Also thanks Pete. Always inspiring us
Great video! I like the fact that you could approach photography from so many different perspectives. I also like taking pictures, as in documentary photography, more for myself. I don't have THE picture I would want to make, but I guess it would be a good exercise. I'm planning 3 short photo documentaries for applying to a university now, and I feel like thinking about pictures to take is similar to imagining a picture I would love to make.
Thanks, Pete, for keeping the motivation and fire for photography alive.
Love the vibes of this video!
This is soooo good I want to make it in video version. Something like MAKING A VIDEO VS. RECORDING A VIDEO as a videographer. This inspires me! Thanks a lot Pete!
Hi Peter from Uzbekistan, l always watch your every single videos
Appreciate it!
@@PeterMcKinnon thanks for your amazing videos/masterpiece
The hair looks so good 🤩
vlogs are about to make a come back and i'm here to see the KING eat it all up!
I'm excited to now MAKE PHOTOS 😍
This process is absolutely wild. I mean this is (from my limited understanding) kind of how films work too right? Like you plan and plan and plan, set up, and get the shot in a relatively short time right?
How cool. I would love an extended cut of this or a podcast length discussion, or just coffee with the two of you and I lol. Great vid Pete.
Oh the stuff just kept loading in. Right when I thought he was done, he had barely started. It was wild!
@@PeterMcKinnon Would love to see what you do with this process!
This was fantastic Pete. Thank you for all your insight.
Always inspired by you! Thanks man!
The quality of this video is beyond impeccable
would be cool to see a video where you try this kind of 'conceptual' photography! And you could do a photo contest or something! Very inspirational video!
Contest would be super fun
No words my friend. Pure Art, with capital letters
This was a really nice one! Artistry at its finest
Excellent video. What a fun and inspiring ride.
i love your guys work ✨
Awesome stuff Peter. Can you provide the info to the photo book you made for Matt. Thanks!
You are that guy for me Pete! Thank you.
I honestly couldn't look away from the video.
I have to ask - who printed that book that you made? Love the look of it.
Hi Peter, first of all, I'm grateful for sharing this eye-opening masterclass experience with us 🍻. I noticed that you use anti-reflective museum glass in some photo frames and standard glass in others. Is there a specific reason for these choices?
that inspired me , for the first time i saw my hero looking at his hero , i small nudge to remind me , you get to enjoy and create the same art . thank you Mr Mckinon.
Thank you for re-introducing us to Matt! Quite a production for sure! Can you tell us where you get your books built/printed? Thank you from Texas!
This is an amazing video. Thank you for this and staying on RUclips
Wow. As somebody who prefers landscapes over people. This whole creating a shot is almost like photo-manipulation in Photoshop... Just without the photoshop. And it's real life. Absolutely beautiful work and honestly very inspiring.
Real Peter fans have watched it last week already
I’m glad it’s not just me. I was having a mad case of Deja uv 🤦🤦
Yes, thank you for confirming I'm not crazy...I started looking in the comments within 10 seconds to understand why the reupload...
Yeah wait... what happened?
@@dtgenty1 I believe Pete (probably Kirk though) accidentally posted it last week
I love this behind the scenes.
This vid deserves to be seen by more people
I am going to do this summer black angel wings ballet group photo session around Toronto. The shoot has been scheduled, we are just waiting for custom made angel wings to arrive. 5 pro ballet dancers with 1 male dancer... directed by owner of the SWS dance studio.. interested Peter? Could be one hell of an epic shoots.... just saying... not the usual I do on my channel but it involves my 2 teens that won lost of awards in dance this year... it is going to be hell of a memory shoot... going in a big style with this one.
Very inspiring. Thank you very, very much! 🙌
Damn dude. That was a great video. That book is awesome too, what a great gift for him! Very inspiring dude. This was just awesome. 🤙
Where do you get the photo books done? Looks amazing.
1:49 His deep statement is just ignored plainly with awkward look and then” what are we shooting?” Lol😂
Outstanding as always. My first thought seeing the crowbar to the room was “Oh no, asbestos everywhere!”
I love seeing more of the behind the scenes of making photos! Also, how did you make the photo book?
This was beyond fantastic.
So interesting to see the process of creating the art for a picture compared to capturing the art for a picture.
When he said how nice it is not to have to start up IG to see the validation of others, that hit very deep.
Now thats an artist ❤
Now this is seriously cool. Maybe hot is more appropriate. Cooley hot. That’s it. Thanks Pete. Enjoyed this one.
The video and the photograph gave me goosebumps. I too love to create stories with one frame.🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😮😮😮
"We could burn it. We just can't burn it down." Peter saying with those crazy eyes is a mood.
nice vid Pete! I´ve been missing this type of videos. Emotionals. You inspired me again to keep doing videos in my channel! Thankss AGAIN"🙌
That is totally insane!
That is awesome that you gifted the book to Matt.
This was brilliant and inspirational.
WoW ! That's a very good video. That's something !
I was a total noob 6 years ago and Peter was an important part of getting me started as a hobby photographer. I like the way the channel continues to reinvent itself :)
If I could (I can) MAKE a photo, I would be thinking about merging 3D art and photos of humans in Unreal Engine.
MY DAILY DOSE OF MOTIVATION! I’m watching your videos for more than 5 years now.. i still watch your old videos whenever i need the energy to push through 🫶🏻
This was so amazing
great video pete! thanks
This video is amazing. Mind. Blowing. Inspiring. Bonkers. 🤪😎😱👀
First 30 mins squad!!
