Nonviolence Cafe #21: Hope Against Hate

Ever wonder about the tools we use to partner with communities for protection and peace? In this Nonviolence Cafe, NP US Director of Mutual Protection Kalaya'an Mendoza leads a brief simulation on situational awareness and discusses how we are working to keep Asian Americans safe.
Since 2021, NP has been working with the Asian American Federation (AAF) on the Hope Against Hate Campaign to enhance the safety of Asian New Yorkers in response to rising anti-Asian hate and violence. Working alongside local communities throughout New York, NP and AAF have built SafeZones (local businesses that are safe places and resource-hubs), led Community Safety Trainings on topics such as upstander intervention and situational awareness, and provided SafeWalks to accompany people to get where they need to go without fear.
