1965 (the year the St.Louis Arch was built) was the same year the Ford Mustang came out.

Thank you for posting this. Our elementary school must have shown it to us in the late 60s, and parts of it stuck with me - especially the recurring "Gateway to the West" melody. Was never able to find it til I happened to search this evening.

This video is about mid-1960s St. Louis, Missouri and the construction taking place around the new Gateway Arch, which opened in 1965.
Seen in this film- the planned Busch Memorial Stadium, the new home
of baseball's Cardinals. It would debut during the midst of the 1966 baseball season. Also shown are the football Cardinals and the NBA
    Hawks.

St. Louis was actually being looked at for Disney World around this time but the cities heavy hitters like Budweiser and Mc Donnell Douglas wanted to much interference in it and the project moved to Florida. Walt Disney was already on the ropes about the weather. They built Six Flags instead.

I remember watching this phony crapola in the '60s. Too bad we were too ignorant to know what the future of this city held. I for one would have got the hell out of Dodge a long time ago.

Heartbreaking to see what has become of this beautiful city along with Detroit. Democrat Policies have slapped hands instead of punishing the criminal thugs and both cities are ruined shells of themselves.

It actually has to do with the decline of the industrial era and suburbanization. It's a little more complex than bipartisan politics. Do your homework and remove yourself from the echo chamber of propaganda. If you actually cared, you'd stand up and make a difference.

@@udon44you are the one that’s fed propaganda, friend.
It has nothing to do with “decline of industrial era” or “suburbanization”. It has got more to do with shoplifting epidemic, rampant crime, homelessness, drug abuse and high taxes. All of which has been brought forward by democratic policies.
It has nothing to do with bipartisan politics but all to do with criminal democrat policies.
You are one who is asleep and you are the one who needs to wake up.
