  • Benefits of Balintawak.
In this video I talked about a few of the many advantages I have found in Balintawak. Although developed for closer range, and maybe because of that, Balintawak emphasizes the use of proper body mechanics: how to generate power in short range (similar to boxing), how to pull and push with maximum eficiency (similar to Judo), how to control the arm (similar to Jiu Jitsu), how to use the other hand not only for trapping but to actually punch (similar to Karate, Boxing, Kickboxing)... making Balintawak a very compatible and the perfect complement to other martial arts.
If you enjoyed this video, please don't forget to like, subscribe and turn on the notification bell for new Kajukenbo & Balintawak techniques and content. It would mean a lot to me! Thank you so much.

    About Kajukenbo
Kajukenbo is a Mixed Martial Art created between 1947-1949 from the experience of 5 different martial artists from 4 different systems: Peter Choo from Tang So Do or Korean KArate, Joe Holck and Frank Ordonez from Danzan Ryu JUjutsu and JUdo, Adriano Emperado from KENpo Kosho Ryu and Clarence Chang from Sil-Lum Pai or Chinese BOxing. It was further developed in the 50's by Adriano D. Emperado, his brother Joe Emperado and many other students, by incorpoating other elements from Western Boxing and Filipino Martial Arts.
    About Balintawak
Balintawak is a Filipino Martial Art developed by the late Anciong Bacon focused on a single stick using the empty hand for trapping, punching, pushing, controlling... the opponent, fighting in close quarter. The are was further developed by Bacon students like GM Attorney Jose Villasin, GM Teofilo Velez... One of the students of that school was Grand Master Bobby Taboada who had experience in both boxing and Karate. His particular style of Balintawak focuses on the importance of good mecanics to generate power in short range.
