You would think they would have made that chassis to eliminate the goofy front end design. I like the idea of making it SOA. Move the battery up front with the Element trans and it should work pretty awesome. I love my gen8s. All 6 of them. Very interested to see how this turns out. As always minty vid and info! 👌👌👌
Awesome brother !! I like it a lot ! Can't wait to pick this new chassis out. 🤘 -Thankyou for giving an idea of the wheelbase, very important. Cannot wait to see a running video !! Thankyou, much appreciated, - Paul.
Great Video as always, awesome build Joe, I Love Wilfredo Kanes rig, what a truck & good Dude!! Ugrc invited me out Sunday to the ledges up here, Id love to make it but I have fam in from outta state, might be tough..
My chassis is on order so this was a great video to see what will be involved. If you switch to the Element transmission Will you also OD the front axle with the HR OD gears or just OD the trans?
Very interesting. I have a GEN8 ACE roller that might benefit from this chassis?🤔 Only thing I don’t care for is the reuse of the plastic servo/panhard mount. Would have rather the chassis designer had built that into the chassis.
To keep costs down the stock stuff bolts on. I agree they have too much h overhang on that. When the new belly comes in I’ll be able to get rid of that and go to a much more precise 4-link with SOA.
Really love watching your videos here in the UK our scene is growing but custom chassis are not common . I've got a Traxxas TRX4 which I'm trying to build as a light weight comp type I've heavily modified the standard chassis but was wondering if you have any recommendations for a better chassis for it ? Considering axial chassis hybrid maybe I want my portals any thoughts ?
There are chassis out there for the trx but they are a more universal fit and usually setup for a small 3gear axial transmission. The trx trans is a bit large and odd. Once he gets the new belly for this to fit the axial trans you can use this chassis and bolt on the trx axles.
Yes. In a perfect world it would be perfect and also in a perfect world these shafts would be phased correctly. With this truck running slow I doubt it will affect much at all.
@@ExocagedRC Alright thank you, Just wondering since I wouldnt be too sure where to put the electronics without buying the tray for it. Maybe I can make some kind of thing my self.
You can fit trx axles in this with a little thought. With all the adjustment possibilities they would go in. The trx trans is a bit of an odd beast the way the motor goes in. We should have a new belly for it soon.
@@JPM788212 NEVER!! My trx4 is coming with me to the grave!! I do like axial. I am waiting on a deadbolt right now. I do however have a bad taste in my mouth about redcat racing.Nothing but garbage in my experience.
I want to build a crawler and I am going to build the ladder frame chassis out of 6061 alu. How thick should I make it? 3mm? I think the amount of bracing is more important than how thick it is. I expect many troubles and frustrations but in the end I will have a pretty cool crawler. It should end up like a diy superlite.
I have a gen 8 with a 1080 esc I'm running a trailmaster sport 21t. But I want to put a crawlmaster on it will an 8t be good on it. It's running stock pinion?
Would this chassis make a good old school monster truck build? Probably needs to top structure for strength? anyone recommend something I can look into?
Hasnt anyone realized that this is a way overpriced hobby. The more we buy into it the more expensive it gets by using words like Scale and competition they can charge more and more for less. Just my sentiments and observations.
I’ve been in the rc hobby 40+ years......it has never been cheaper to get this selection and quality components.....we’re talking more than 50-70% off from 10 years ago.
Comparatively what you can get for the money we spend on little pieces of plastic or metal there is no way to justify the price. Some people pay thousands of dollars for stamps. To each his own. Is it worth it?
I’ve had a few hobbies over time and I’ve yet to find a cheap one. Well maybe bird watching could be cheap? You can simply buy a truck and have fun with it and stay fairly cheap but if you like mods and stuff, well like you said, it’s not cheap.
Overpriced hobby?? Hahahaha, yeah...I got into this to scratch an itch of my motorsports hobby I walked away from when I started my family. I've been absolutely giddy at what I get for the money. I used to own a motorsports design and manufacturing business. I know what it takes to get products to market. I still shake my head at what they are able to do in this hobby so cheaply. (Have you SEEN what you get in the Gen8 Axe for $500?!!!) If it wasn't for chinese slave labor you would be seeing the real cost of these items. We have become a nation of people who really believe $13 toasters would exist without manipulated currency and communist slave labor factories. We are enjoying comically low manipulated prices on goods. Enjoy it while it lasts. Try spending $15,000 on an engine, have it let go 5 seconds into your first full throttle romp. The builder says "Gee, that sucks. I'll give you a deal on the next one" (There is no warranty in that level of motorsports. To many variables to assign blame.) while the track officials sweep the metal chunks and parts into a bag for you. That happened to a friend right at my side at the track. I've had my own WTF moments like the $0.50 part that failed and wrecked 7 grand worth of motor, turbos etc. No, this hobby is not overpriced. Not by a LONG shot.
Perfect music for thrashing on your rig!!🤘🤘🤘🍻🍻🍻. Great video
Thanks!
Thanks for building something that doesn't cost thousands of dollars just to open the first box. I like it OLLOTT!
Killer riffs and music editing, great work on the vid and truck. Your Redcat vids sold me on it and it’s been a great truck. Thanks
Wouldn't upset me IF it was louder tho. 😁
Don't forget to put ya some grade 1 DRIVER MOD !!!!! yeah.....
Wow what a nice chassis. Glad the gen 8 is getting some love.
Oh man, waiting to see where you go with this before I get started... that is awesome! Great job so far...
That front 3 link is the Achilles heel of the Gen 8. If it had a triangulated 4 link in front it would be a beast.

You can use losi mini t springs on the stock redcat shocks. Cut 1-1 1/2 coils to set the droop.
Love to see someone use this for the wendigo
Very tempted to get one, but I am trying to save for a Xmaxx!
Well hmmm. This is cheaper but the Xmaxx is....a MONSTER BEAST OF AWESOMENESS!! Tough choice dude.
@@ExocagedRC Well, will have to pick up some extra work, just ordered the chassis for my Gen 8
I’m buying one of these through your link so hope it’s a performer.

Just the trans od for now.
Exo: redcat makes an under-drive r&p for the gen8 rear. I use 1 n mine.
Yeah and I may get into those with this. Probably after I get it running and get some tuning in on it.

Northwest scale design make a chassis for the trx4. Bolts right on trans and all. Its called the scatter gun. Ive been runnin for a year now on my c2
Does the phasing of the transmission to transfer case shaft matter? I'm guessing no since it's almost a straight shot.
Yes. In a perfect world it would be perfect and also in a perfect world these shafts would be phased correctly. With this truck running slow I doubt it will affect much at all.
how do you like gen8 axle? caster angle? if you compare with trx4 axle?
Can you try some short Yeah Racing Desert Lizards?
I second that. Just picked up a set of 100mm for my Gen8 and I would be very interested to see them on the Exo build, and to see how he sets them up.
If you want more compression, measure the shocks at full compression and choose the ones with the shortest length.
Going to just go with a droop setup as it is right now. I have a lot of mods in the works for this thing in the near future.
Is it possible to put the stock sliders and battery tray on this?
I don't think so but with a bit of work I'm sure it can be done
@@ExocagedRC Alright thank you, Just wondering since I wouldnt be too sure where to put the electronics without buying the tray for it. Maybe I can make some kind of thing my self.

You have the option of selling it to buy a Axial or Redcat.

Really that a hard question to answer, like you said bracing will be a big factor
Where do I find the link to the spacer that goes in the transmission to keep the pin from walking out (video time mark 1:58)?
its a printed piece, you can use shims to get that done if you want.
Where would I find the design details or STL files? Thanks

Not yet

I don’t think I’d use this in a monster truck like you want. The Gen8 frame rails are really stout and could be made to work.
What body are you going with?
Not sure. Maybe another creep if I have to but I may fit this jeep gladiator body on it.
@@ExocagedRC I think the jeep is gonna be awesome
Are them stock redcat shocks
Yes
Bolt lenths
Do you still have this build?
I don't
that motor sits so high and i thought the Exreal was the worst
Can you only buy a UGRC chassis via facebook ?
he has a website

Yes I have a business FB page to purchase it.
