I have been waiting to see your wonderful SD6 for a while. I'm so glad this historic piano is getting some attention.

Phase Two is scheduled for August. Plate out, soundboard and bridge rejuvenation, then rescaling/restringing. I really can’t wait. It sounds good now but hints at so much more!

Ben - nice little piece. I bet you were like me in college. Theory students had to compose things now and then and I ended up composing things for my classmates for a small price. I enjoy your piano skills - I was a trumpet major but play a mean cocktail piano. What have you done to your Baldwin - looks like new hammers and bass strings? Right.

      Thanks, Don. Means a lot.
Yes, new hammers and bass strings, plus I’ve rebushed the keys, regulated, and replaced damper felt.
The piano really needs to be restrung, however, to fully reduce the sting of letting my Chickering go. And I’ll do the epoxy treatment on the soundboard, among other things, to give it a fuller refresh.

Awesome to hear this theme in full form! Great to see and hear the Baldwin SD6!

Aw, thanks, Russ! No pressure, but of course I’d be hugely flattered if you ever decided to learn my Capriccio.
Regarding the SD6, I’m sure you can hear that it’s both a work in progress and that it has some real promise. This summer I hope to restring it after doing some plate-out work to the soundboard, bridge, etc.

Did you know you are my personal hero? Playing, composing, restoring... Commenting on my reactions and advizing me...
Just don't say "Brahmsian sentimentality" please!

Okay, deal…as long as you never say I’m the wind beneath your wings. 😁
Thanks for being such a loyal subscriber.
(For the record, I meant “emotional pull”; it was not an insult to Brahms.)

@@insidepianos I'm not being loyal but simply enjoy your videos. I think they have good quality and are very balanced in regards to being interesting, entertaining, personal and never superficial. They also help me accept myself as being a piano nerd, since you make that look like it's normal.
B.t.w. did you know that here in Holland we call a grand piano a "wing" (vleugel).

Thank you for the kind words. You are most certainly welcome here.
I think I had heard but had forgotten the Dutch term for grand piano. Maybe you thought I was being extra witty.

But it is a really cool piece ergo you must be that cool… so cool you of course can’t say it… … you get my point.
