Some people cant take the heat about the game, the game is great in my opinion but does lack in some places, I love RE2 98 as well and even that game had some problems as well, either way love your videos man and keep at em, you did clearly warn people before the video started that it was just an opinion but some people dont catch it I guess....
There's really nothing to change; but no need to acknowledge foolishness (People really complain about your voice? Sounds like misery needs attention to me)
For the most part, I agreed with the video leading up to this one, and if I had the power to do so, I'd add additional scenarios to the game that are as close to the original as the REmake is. That said, we live in a different world with the proliferation of internet ready devices. So literally any idiot that can open a web browser or an app can voice their caustic, pretentious, or histrionic opinion. Don't let them get you caught up in their inability to socialize or reason when facing an opinion that threatens their paradigm of a miserable existence.
You know whats even better? The lore of both RE2 suck the same amount and make no sense to the series so it really doesn't matter wich one is cannon or not. Therefore everyone can freelly choose which one they prefer to be cannon and eveyonelse can roll with it hahahaha
@@Awesmman no, he should tell them off ,If he legally doesn't change his name to LEON S KENNEDY or CLAIRE REDFIELD he cannot call himself a true real fan of the series.
If anything, that old commenter sounded like a Capcom shill! Hah. "You are not an elite true hardcore fan if you don't blindly give excess money to the publisher!"
Yea. Its not the biggest issue in the world, but it would have been great character development for both of them. Also the original did do different bosses better.
@@teamhammerbros8466 And yet they _both_ fight G1, G2, and G3 in _the exact same spaces_ complete with Annette running in just before the G3 fight to help each of them _separately_ and dying in completely different circumstances afterward. A/B in the '98 original wasn't perfectly congruent either but they tried then.
Yeah, that's something the original did better. I also miss zombie Brad and the cutscenes showing that helicopter crashing or tyrants being air dropped into Raccoon City.
Thank you for being real, it's rare to find people willing to actually criticize things, it doesn't mean you hate the game, suck at it or calling it trash. Nothing is perfect and there will always be flaws I enjoyed hearing the critique it made me think of the game even deeper, thank you for actually staying true to your opinion 🙏 Happy New Year 😅✨
Welcome to RUclips dude. I may not have agreed with all your points, but I've always liked listening to your opinions on games. I'd rather listen to someone give their honest opinion (with facts that back up their points, of course) rather than conform to what everyone else says. Keep up the good work.
The only problem I have with this game is the way the scenarios are. They don’t make any sense. Why would Leon have to do all the same puzzles and fight the same bosses that Claire already did? It’s so repetitive. You’re basically playing the same game 4 times. Oh and the Birkin G2 boss fight was a bitch. I mainly only had trouble on it because Claire and Leon run so goddamn slow that he kept catching me and the crane was knocking us both off.
The dude was really cheap with me, kept hitting me before I could drop down to the crane platform when I ran straight there and through him when he broke down the door.
I have a solution for you to try regarding willy b g2. Flashbang and hit with everything you've got when he goes down once, pump him with a bit more lead and fire, then dump his ass like an unwanted child on prom night.
@Cyberdemon Mike Actually, the puzzles were the same in the original. The scenarios, however, were not. It's best put this way: In the remake, whether you do Leon A or B and Claire A or B, you're just doing Leon A and Claire A with different starting positions. Nothing else changes. Same story beats. In the original, the story would drastically change based on what order you played the two, so leon a would be very different from leon b. But in the remake, leon a and leon b are so similar theres basically no difference.
@Cyberdemon Mike But the story beats would change. Theres a reason why leon B is canon in the original. Now leon a or be can be canon in the new one because basically NOTHING changes.
@@TheLegendOfLame it actually if you look at certain things closely seems like they intended for Leon A Claire B in this one, one example is the Garage: Leon has to fight the Cerberus' while Claire fights the Lickers, but if you pay attention you'll notice that the Lickers are feeding on Dead cerberus in the kennels, ones that Leon would have killed while they were still in their cages, and thats just one moment where it looks like Leon A makes sense as the new canon. I do agree with you though that there was a missed opportunity here for them to make the A and B campaigns a little more different, especially since Leon fights Super Tyrant as a final boss where Claire fights g4 Birkin, especially when in 98 only Scenario B fought Super Tyrant. They should have just made Claire specifically fight Birkin for the boss fights and have Leon fight different G spawn, especially since the biggest reason Birkin would have been after Claire was for A, Sherry so he could infect her, or B, the Pendent Sherry had that Claire ended up with when Irons took her to the Orphanage. This way would have made it so that each campaign would have had a little more variety. I also wish they would have kept in the zapping system for items and had Claire stay in contact with Leon a little more, i mean ffs they BOTH had radio's. And something they could have done with the Zapping that would have worked interestingly imo would be instead of keeping all the key items in the same places and only rearrange the minor items, they could have for example: 1st run you get the bolt cutters in the outside stair well when they first see each other again in the station, then in 2nd run, you find the bolt cutters again where the 1st run person discarded them because they weren't needed anymore, and then they could have just put the chains in other places to use the cutters on in 2nd run, like instead of having to blow up the pathway into the goddess statue you have to use the bolt cutters on the nearby door to the library or something, but i digress, those are just a few ideas i have for how they could have made the continuity better, i still love the game but yeah.
the crane fight comments got me a bit heated lmao the first time i played the game, i accidentally beat the crane fight in one try. like i literally sent the crane once and he fell off. EVERY subsequent run after that, despite me being better at the game and knowing exactly what to do, has taken me multiple tries and i've even died more than a few times on it. i guarantee most of those comments were from people playing normal, just getting lucky like i did and they didn't actually play the game multiple times like you're intended to also RE4 is fucking incredible, i seem to have also missed the memo that we should all start hating on it for practically no reason lmao
Nah not really, that's really the one of the easiest boss fight if you know how RE2 works. (and i've done all the S+ run on the hardest difficulty), i don't think someone is bad if they fail the boss, they were probably just not in the right mindset to face it.
@@francescogta "one of the easiest boss fights if you know how RE2 works" i've ran through every Scenario on every difficulty, give or take a few Assisted runs because I only used the difficulty for a few specific achievements, and I think it's fair to say I'm well aware of how the game works lmao it doesn't change the fact that it's an odd boss fight that seems very inconsistent at times. the whole idea is that you do enough damage to him and then hit him with the crane, preferably when he is stunned. i've done seemingly more than enough damage to him on numerous occasions and he still took 2 crane attempts, which is why it's confused me and seems inconsistent
I would imagine that few people "hate" RE4. It's a good game any way you slice it. Some like myself just generally prefer the classic RE style over it but they don't speak up as much because of the near universal praise RE4 gets from the gaming press. I'd compare RE4 to FF7 in that way. It's the most famous mainstream title in its series, but not necessarily the favorite of everyone. And there are legitimate reasons people have for not loving certain aspects of RE4, though I agree there's no legitimate reason to say the whole game is trash, even they're mad that RE4's success was largely responsible for the direction Capcom took with RE5 and RE6.
Yeah I never found that boss fight difficult, but it was tedious, and not designed efficiently. Really irritating to knock him off the crane once and then blindly not realize that he got back up again. The alligator chase was the worst for me, because I clearly got through the sewer obstacles and then didn't realize I had to shoot it with a killing blow at the end.
slayer well his opinions can’t be objectively wrong in this scenario, and they can be discussed like decently intelligent human beings, not low iq babies
8:46 I hate the logic of "If you like an old thing better than a new thing you're blinded by nostalgia" because it's used by people who think new things are good just because they're new regardless of actual quality.
It's actually mostly the opposite. Sure, there are definitely people who consider everything that's old to be bad, but it's just more common for an idiot to believe that their nostalgia is the only way of liking something and not giving anything new a chance.
The most frightening thing the Resident Evil series has ever produced is fans who will look you in the eyes and tell you Resident Evil 4 is a bad game.
Exactly. They like to call it bad entirely because future games play similar to it but went after trends popular in the industry that involved having more action. That's not 4's fault. At all. Almost all the hate I see directed towards 4 is focused on how the series after it changed, ignoring how the actual game itself is an expertly crafted experience
@@tylerhansen931 That really is my problem with people saying RE4 is a bad game. I respect opinions but hating on RE4 simply for games that came after which were uninfluenced by it is a garbage, not the game itself. (here's a weird analogy) It's like getting a really good, new and unique Ice Cream flavor, and you go get another one but it is a crappy off-brand version, it tastes awful, so you blame the original for influencing the creators of the crappy ice cream to make it.
@JD Resident Evil 4 is the best game I've ever played. If it took being a "bad Resident Evil game" to reach that level of greatness, then I'm OK with that.
I admit I havent played 4, but whenever I hear anyone talk about, they tend to call it amazing and even a masterpiece, so I am confused to when people started disliking this game. Can someone please tell me? Lol
Ada treated Leon with a "try to keep up" "I'm FBI I got this shit under control. You're a cop you don't get it." personality. So when I got to play as her I was expecting to be OP. But instead I had one gun with barely any ammo and no herbs. I ended up struggling way more than I was Leon. To be fair, maybe that was the point? I mean she turned out not to be FBI after all.
@Dutch Plan Der Linde I think the point they're trying to make is that it's so unrealistic that it's not engaging, cause it doesn't even really explain what it's doing. When I point it at a fan I'm told vaguely that I'm "hacking it wirelessly" but that doesn't mean anything. All I know is wavy light do thing I need to progress.
"Are you a bad enough dude to rescue the president's daughter?" is my only basic complaint about the game. I mean, seriously, they sent Leon with NO backup and lacking appropriate equipment to rescue the USA's most important person's daughter.
Resident Evil 4 saved the franchise. Without it, RE was about to die like most other survival horror games did. Look up the sales of each RE title, there was already a sharp decline after RE2. It only got worse when Capcom started making stupid exclusive deals with Sega and Nintendo. RE4 and RE5 kept thus franchise alive. When Capcom focuses on either survival horror or just action horror, they make excellent games.
Ngl I use this quote pretty much on a regular basis whenever the conversation comes up about gender lol. “I don’t care whether you are a boy, a girl, an Apache attack helicopter, or pansexual dragon”.
Ultimately, I had the same issues as you. The short run to the station really took away from my initial awe of the gas station scene. I loved that part. The station felt far too close for my liking. I wasn't in danger enough. Claire's run-up being completely left out was frustrating to say the least. How they split the courtyard up the way they did bothered me. Leon locking the gate behind him too left me like 🤔🤦🏻♂️ The exact same Birkin fight was pointless as it didn't work in terms of the story, along with the Annette bits at the end. Rather silly. Irons' death was so under par that I wished I hadn't seen the new one, although I liked the bit in the orphanage immensely. The run up to it, giving us what was missing en route TO the station making an appearance actually made me squeal in delight. I loved it so much. Claire should have fought Birkin under the orphanage instead of where Leon fought him, and certainly instead of being chased by Mr. X. Ben's death I actually preferred in the remake, that squashed head look was a testament to how gorgeous the gore mechanics are in RE engine. And that goes for the rest of the enemies 😍 Claire and Leon not talking on radio was, I suppose a problem basing it on how we were just used to it in the original, but I was easily able to overlook it. Mr. X was immense and the panic inducing mania he brought was one of the highlights of the new game. I wasn't a fan of his hat though 😂😂 It likely is mostly nostalgia speaking with all my gripes, and the fact we even got a remake blew the collective minds of the RE community, and you are quite obviously a fan of the series, acknowledging how bad 6 really was, or as I called it Resident QTEvil 6. 4 is incredible, and it now stands as scum for some of the community as the catalyst for the downgraded action packed bullshit of 5 and 6. Your views are valid. I appreciate that you had the same issues and brought them to light and suffered the stick that came with it. The original in terms of story is superior, the remake is superior in terms of how it looks and feels. I didn't think I'd like the over the shoulder business as I feared it would delve back into what I came to loathe about the series, but I was overall impressed with how they did. I now am psyched for 3make and going into it with a completely open mind basing what we saw in 2. Peace, lad. I've got your back 👍🏻
That's not how these videos go. This process happens with every game: RUclipsr uploads video about new game and is critical about it; RUclipsr gets criticism both contructive and non-constructive; RUclipsr makes a response video mostly going through the non-constructive comments.
@@VikingPotatoes Yeah, I'm getting tired of that. It feels manipulative. I get that there are plenty of troll assholes that comment on RUclips but there are just as many sensible people who will use proper English and can criticize without calling you a faggot in the process. Why not focus on THOSE?
Half the comments were just parroting the same shit about the crane or re4. The ones that were thoughtful respectfully disagreed and dont necessarily warrant a response. This was addressing the hate mob more than the people who were of a different opinion.
What’s funny is that watching the original video all I thought was “Shit those are all good points”. No wonder so many people just devolved to bitching, you can’t really argue against what you said.
The game does have it but generally a lot of people don't realize systems like that are hard to make. The game does have it but for specifically because somthing like being in between a room with a clicker and mr x appearing is anger inducing but the ddb is a lot more subtle than that Most games don't have it to my knowledge because imagine programming every npc while accounting for balance and other mechanics But games do want you to win when you actually pay attention with little mechanics like first shots missing or the game stopping at health 0 when you should have died. Ect
When I finished the game (both stories and 2run as well) I made a post on reddit about how some aspects were disappointing, things you mentioned actually, and that the B run is rushed and there are a lot of plot holes, I’m a true RE fan, but hey, people seem to be afraid to express their true opinion thinking capcom won’t do RE3 remake because of the flaws people point. This is a great game but not a perfect remake, and people should reckon that. Congratulation on your video, you are actually one of the few people who actually says the true of this remake and make a constructive criticism of how Capcom can improve future RE titles.
@@CryingZombie666 Right? There's literally no reason for me to play through this when I still have the real RE2. It does everything better. RE2make even fucked up the licker encounter. No real buildup, they just drop it on you. That 10 second cutscene in the original really made that moment. This felt more like a fan game. Also, I missed the interactions between Leon and Claire. Of course a lot of people will say the remake is better because muh controls and muh graphics, but I found it underwhelming considering I played through the real RE2 before playing the remake.
@@CryingZombie666 LMAO, I said she looks like a deformed Jennifer Lawrence! I fucking hated her face. I didn't even finish her scenario because I found it so off-putting. Most of my friends that are RE2make fanboys think I'm crazy, I'm like dude that bitch is ugly.
@@ravendarklawgaming197 I'm not trying to say that your opinion is invalid, after all this is just my opinion, but the reason I loved the RE2 remake was because of the atmosphere, hard difficulty and strategy required to play the game. Ok but can you address the CONSTRUCTIVE comments? It's really easy to respond to non-constructive, almost comical comments, but it kinda doesn't add to your statement about the game, it just feels like... you know, the usual youtube drama.
Rofl ignore this kid. I didn't watch his last video, because it was snarky clickbait but watching this is like watching some smug idiot explaining how right his opinions are..
@Rusty Shackleford His video voicing his opinions is very well done. He gives many props to the remake and explains why he has his opinions. I don't agree with everything, but he made some really good points that I have to agree with. I absolutely love both the original and the remake, but that doesn't mean everything is perfect in either game.

So respect for uploading anyway.
I've heard if you die too many times in the l beginning village they will straight up PUT the shotgun in your inventory and then enemies will drop HELLA ammo. So if you want to unlock Easy Mode, basically die 7 or so times right off the bat.
@@CriticalNobody Loved you're video, despite me disagreeing with some points. I wouldn't pay attention to what the Resident Evil community says though, I've been lurking in here for years now and this community can be... something...Keep up the good work dude.
Critical Nobody Yes, RE4 have adaptive difficulty. It's one of the reason I disliked the game. I could understand the concept for the normal mode doing it and then the easy going easiest always and professional hardest always but instead, you can begin professional, die 7 times, and make the rest of the game easy and ending without any consequences. You will still unlock what the professional mode is supposed to give you when you just played a glorified easy mode. I very much hate adaptative and unlocking difficulty. If I want to play the game i bought directly at it's hardest, then you should let me.
Ohhh my. You need some praise after those comments =) How about: I found you through your re2:re video and subbed, while liking the remake more. Your critical thinking was most welcome.
Like the old saying goes "There's no such thing as bad publicity". I haven't watched your other video, but I will say the remake's alternative scenario was lazy and pointless considering how the original had direct A/B scenario intergration, adding different details to the 2nd scenario depending on both the 1st runs actions as well as the character's own story arcs happening at different times. Anyone who's played the original all four ways will know what I'm talking about. Anyone playing the original now however probably wouldn't appreciate it as much with the poor graphics and tank controls, but it was that game's gimmick which made it stand out as was part of the appeal. Overlooking that, it's still a good remake. Saying "What a great game" neither identifies what was liked nor adds anything constructive.
I loved the remake but the acting was so cringe compared to the original game. When Claire and Leon meet again over the fence, they're like *Leon: "Oh hey! Wassup lol?" Claire: "Nothing just surviving I guess lol."* Like you just witnessed flesh eating zombies and you guys aren't terrified at all? When I played the game for the first time and saw that scene I just couldn't believe it lol. And Claire cursing just makes her look so weird too.
People bad mouthing RE4? This is the first time I am aware that such people even exist!!. Are they just young and instantly dislike it cuz of the controls? Or... I can't even think of a single other reason for someone to dislike RE4.
I think spiders and giant moths are a far fetch for a zombie story set in a police station, I think it works better for the tone that they were removed
The "Mr X doesn't make sense" comment was probably referring to how he dies halfway through Claire's campaign and yet is still present till the end of Leon's, not why he is there in the first place.
We really don't have two versions of RE2. It is so difficult to find the original version of RE2 and 3 that it almost makes these new versions the superior ones when they're clearly not
Never heard of you but that Sam Elliot point & the Banjo Kazioo (cant remember how to spell it, it's been years) music made me a sub. Also this was a well put rebuttal to criticism against you.
I’ve been a gamer since 1995 and i had such a hard time with the crane fight that i almost rage quit. I will say i was trying to save my ammo. After i started putting rounds into Berkin to stun him the fight got way easier. I just had to sacrifice my precious ammo.
On my first playthrough i earned a trophy for defeating Berkin with just one hit with the crane..lost alot of ammo in the process😫 was totally worth it cause i had no clue about that achievement at the time..cause it was my first playthrough 😁
First playthrough I didn't have too much trouble with him, but on my second, I tried to save more ammo and only hit him with the crane. As a result, I ended up dying a few times to the crane because he kept grabbing me on the second crane swing. I wouldn't be surprised if they purposely made him grab more often if you haven't been damaging him.
People are idiots. RE4 is known to be a popular favourite of the franchise that came about at a time where people were getting bored of the same content and changed things up. This is why it's knows as one of the best.
Nobody understands what "fan" means anymore "fan" doesn't mean buy the most expensive version or play on the hardest mode it means enjoying the game and liking it.
Why didn't they actually remake resident evil 2 man? Resi 1 got that sweet GameCube remake and all 2 got was a gears of war makeover. 1/10. Nice graphics tho, I guess.
Pretty much all the points you brough are valid, it was a really bold and brave choice to call the bad points, when everyone else is blindly praise the game. Criticism is a good thing, pessimism isn't. I guess you can enjoy all this like a piece of experiment, I dunno. Good luck with your next videos, and I see you in the next one! =D

@@JakobatHeart When people aren't good at a the game or not playing it at it's hardest difficulty, you're either called a noob, weak, losers, or told to get good. Most other times they're given nasty remarks because parts of the game they had problems with and get criticized and tend to go off on others for having an opinion on it. I try to be somewhat helpful because not every game's gameplay is for everybody so I have no problem with people playing it like they choose to. It's the toxic remarks the push people away from voicing their opinions. I know not everybody's not a dick, but that just my honest opinion on it.
I played on assisted the first time so I didnt have much trouble then. But when I finally felt ready to beat hardcore I died a bunch to the crane boss. Everyone has their own experience with a game, and that's fine.
@Cyberdemon Mike I watched a few let's plays and weirdly the worst players that use all their resources (aka no old RE habits) tended to beat it on first try and the others like me got hit by the crate once or twice. People saying RE4 was terrible clearly haven’t played RE4, or at least not properly. you aren’t the only one praising RE4 believe me, like the majority of RE fans praise the 4th game, because it WAS awesome your right. Here’s how I deal with comments like that: “I stopped watching this video, because I saw something I disagree with-“ oh yeah? I stopped reading this comment, because I saw something I disagree with.
Mr. Critical Nobody thank you so much, your first vid on RE2 remake was bold, this was bolder! I’d consider myself a “RE fan” since the beginning and I’d have to agree with pretty much everything you said. Even if I didn’t agree, you’re awesome for talking about it. Also, Resonance of Evil’s comment was certainly the best and I’m glad you felt the same!
As someone who loves both versions of RE2, I'm just gonna say that most of the comments on your previous video were absolutely unwarranted. You had a lot of great points and it was overall a solid video that showed the weaknesses of an awesome game that will hopefully be ironed out and improved in the inevitable Nemesis Remake. 👍
The reason why people have bad thoughs about RE4 recently is because they try so hard to put RE2 on a high pedestal that if you like other RE game that isn't RE2 they will automaticaly hate you for that.
That's the most ridiculous thing ever. It's basically old formula fans vs action fans, and has been that way forever. I consider 4 superior to REmake2 btw.
I must say it’s refreshing to hear an actual critique of the game. I personally have loved playing the game and think it’s how all remasters should be going forward. However I too died 7-8 times on my 1st fight with Birkin and the crane. The crane hit box was undefined and Birkin was cheap when he grabs you. Now on my 8th run it’s easy to beat with just a handgun and dodging. Starting on standard difficulty on my 1st play through too was needed to enjoy the story and not have the stress of a potential 1 hit death on my hands. I’m a RE veteren and wanted to soak in all the locales and story on 1st run. The story inconsistencies frustrate me, especially Annette’s character and her being in the same William fight for both characters. Sherry is far too “fine” seeing that she’s seen both of her parents die and been locked up in an orphanage by a nutjob. The true ending too is far too happy considering what the cast have been through. It’s not a perfect game but still my GOTY at time of writing. Keep up the good work and I personally look forward to more insightful reviews from you.
My issue with RE4 and why I've never really had any interest in it isn't that I think it's a bad game or stupid or anything, but just that I think it slides too far into becoming a different genre entirely. It's not what I want from Resident Evil even if it s a good game in its own right.
2:12 According to some having genuine criticism and good reasons for it somehow equals blind hate. The idea that you can like something and admit it has flaws is lost on them.
It's really scary how much our opinions on the RE series align (with the exception of RE4, I personally can't stand that game). Your original video was so refreshing, not just because of the confirmation bias aspect, but because it was so well presented. Seeing so many people deny your valid points with nothing to back it up out of blind fanboyism is almost physically painful.
The underwhelming A/B campaign structure, lame remake soundtrack, somewhat bullshit adaptive difficulty, and extremely meh boss battles are the only real issues with the game. Everything else is flawless. An 8 or 9/10 score is totally acceptable. I kinda hope, in the future, Capcom scraps boss battles all together, just concentrates on replayability, and the survival horror elements of the game.
i understand why people dont like Re4 . I myself dont hate Re4, but i dont like it and in my ranklist, it would be upper mid place. Re4 did some good things, but the quicktime events, the way too action orientated cutscenes where way too much;( Re1 , Re2, Re3 , RE : code veronica , then re4 . And yes, the remakes would fit in and replace the classics, but then it would be too much. I miss the camera fixed angles, code veronica proved it could be done gameplaywise for 2018-2019
I completely agree with the RE2 remake being less then the Original I am the same age as you and RE3 ORIGINAL not the half assed remake is my favorite game. I didn't like RE4 for a very long time but the remake made me rethink that.

Resident Evil 4 is one of those games that tears at me. It is a really good game but at the same time it is the one that shifted Resident Evil from Survival Horror to Action Horror. It just doesn't feel like Resident Evil to me.
The remake was pretty good but like you I wish they took longer developing it so it was more like the original, I think anyone who doesn't think the original is better than the remake is either new to the franchise or was to young to experience them

@@CriticalNobody About people hating RE4 - yeah, you didn't get the memo on that. It was severely hated when it came out (and many hate it now) for being so different. Basically the roots were forgotten, the series was dead, all that good stuff.
@@steelbear2063 That was an insanely vocal minority. People who hate RE4 can never seem to shut the fuck up about it, hence why they pop up everywhere. I bought RE4 at release, and yeah, there were a few pissbabies crying about the direction, but it was massively praised and loved generally.
Who the hell would hate RE4? It’s universally considered one of the best horror games ever made, a favorite among classic fans and the reason why many people didn’t want a RE4 Remake is because they fear that it’s impossible to match.
I just stumbled upon this video and the previous one mentioned. I can say that it is a very good thing how exceptionally thorough you are with your explanations and retorts without double dipping. If only people who made those comments you pointed out had the brains to do the same... oh well. Hopefully RE4 Remake will not make the same mistakes RE2R and RE3R made.
12:42 I agree with you for the most part BUT the missing enemies kept the original unpredictable. Also RE2original>RE4>rest of series. The writing in RE2 was the best in the series and the side characters are so shallow in REmake2 not to mention the so cheesy it's not campy it's just bad CW teen drama dialogue between Claire/Leon/Sherry. REmake2 would've been a work of art with the REmake1 treatment sigh but alas this remake is highly rated because people have lowered their standards since all the BS with bethesda, EA, and CoD type games being recycled and pushed out every 9 months.
Resident Evil 4 is a good game, but an awful survival horror. For me who played R1, R2 and R3 first and then bought R4 it was frustating because I was expection a horror game. Maybe if Capcom did exactly as they did with Devil May Cry who was first a RE game and turned into another because it was too different, I wouldn't mind at all. About "the game is not scary" I think it's your opinion, I played FEAR and I didn't feel scaried, but I enjoyed it! About adaptive difficulty, I totally agree with you, the game cannot punish you based on your hability to avoid problems. If they want to do something difficult, they should do it on hardcore. About that guy who said "you should play on the hardcore first", I have a platinum trophy, Rank S+ in every scenario(hardcore), I still laughed on this one. On internet there is always someone who is a gamer PHD. For last, there is no excuse for lame second run mode, besides the game being awesome it doesn't change the fact that they did worse than original.
Saying Resident Evil 4 is an awful survival game is like saying The Shawshank Redemption is an awful action movie. It's not like it's trying to be what you're calling it
You people are like SJWs... criticize and shit off people with an opinion. I applaud this guys bravery and going for something different as another video about how great this game is, is already redundant. I enjoyed the game regardless of its flaws but the Leon and Clarke scenario storyline bug me because they do t make sense anymore compare to the original and they’ve only met three times in the game and never really interacted much.the ending with Sherry big me 2, a real kid would not move on this fast if she loves her parents. Be that as it may, just a great game played it twice and now taking a break. New people have to just calm down and understand and that others may not agree with you.It doesn’t mean you shouldn’t play the game anymore because you have every right to but you also have to respect other people’s opinions.
I personally enjoyed your video and agreed with some of your points. I haven't played the 1998 version of the game myself, but I have seen some walkthroughs of the game on RUclips. Guess that doesn't make me a "true" fan :). Overall, both games look great and thanks again for stating your personal dislikes on RE2 because man it's like a breath of fresh air.
Great response to the criticism! I agree with basically all your points on the remake and still liked it as well. My one nitpick is that it’s not really fair to call other reviews of RE2 “blind praise”. It’s essentially disregarding the opinions of folks who had a justifiably positive experience with the game just like some commenters disregarded your negative feedback as “blind nostalgia”. Sort of a two way street.
RE1 remake is best remake of all time of any game, RE2 remake was fun but inferior to the original because of screwing up the scenarios, RE3 remake was garbage cash grab, and RE4 (original and remake) sucks - it isn’t resident evil, resident evil is about zombies and a virus not “midgets, little bugs instead of a virus, thinking running enemies that use weapons, etc” that game was ass - code Veronica got weird as the story went on but it was way better than resident evil 4
Gonna get flack for this, but judging by a lot of comments it really needs clarifying. RE 1, 2, 3, Code Veronica, 0, REmake, RE7 and RE2 Remake = Actual RE games. RE 4, 5 and 6 = OTT action oriented shoot-'em-ups with the RE name slapped on the box. Just wanted to clear that up.
Really in my opinion yes both of the 1998 and the 2019 RE2 did pretty well but the old RE2 did some things better like the tyrant boss fight! in the 1998 the tyrant had a new look when it mutates and it look cool but the 2019 it's like they didn't want to make the tyrant because of the details that it will take so they copy him and just added big cuts on his head and a claw!
I started to think I was the only one who thought the same thing! They literally just removed his Jacket, exposed his heart mutated his arm to resemble a Tyrant claw and set it on fire. I was so hyped to see the full mutated Tyrant from the original RE2 but was disappointed. I know it's an unpopular opinion but oh well lol.
I like the redesign better, looks a bit more believable then what, in my opinion, looks like mutated Pepsi man. However, I get where you are coming from, and I do wish they had a bit more going on with his design.
@@marvinmoreno5637 I mean now you say that I can totally see it hahaha. But yeah the original Tyrant looked a lot more menacing. And a stark contrast compared to how he looked as the standard MR. X. So to see very little changes in his mutated form was just a bit underwhelming and didn't flair up the old nostalgia lol. Though playing with the classic Soundtrack really made the Boss Battle much better! Lol
Waittttttttttttt since when people decided to hate on re4? Like it's one of the best in the series . And that's comming from die hard fans and not just me. You'd see lots of top survival horror games with re4 being there and in high spots ? Excuse me wtf happened to the community ?
@@DirectorHMAN There is no such thing as a "hardcore fan". There are only fans that are open for difference, and gullible babies like you who cry when they don't get spoonfed the same formula over and over again
I commented on your other video. I'm just going to copy and paste my response. Lol I appreciate your very well thought out opinions! I absolutely love both the original and the remake. I do agree with some of your opinions especially the scenarios. I still enjoyed it but wish there was more story continuity. For example ...there would be evidence of scenario a having been somewhere when scenario b comes across it. Also would have liked more interaction between Claire and Leon. They felt more like partners in the original. And personally, RE2 and RE4 are my favorite RE games.
Unpopular opinion : I actually really enjoyed RE6. It wasnt a bad game. Just not a survival horror, neither is RE4 (face it) but no one seems to have an issue. It was nice seeing Leon and Chris together in the same game and seeing a grown up Sherry Birkin. I've played and completed every main RE title + Revelations 1 & 2 when they came out. As a kid i played the original 3 with my brother. Then the REmake and 0 In my teens. Then RE4, 5 and 6 and 7 as they got released. People seem to hate any new change in things they are accustomed to. I'm not too picky about gameplay styles, as long as it plays well and is enjoyable content. Capcom might have taken the action route but it did ultimately save the franchise and im really happy with the RE2 remake. Its cute for what it is.
It's not like I'm going to change any hearts and minds with my responses, but maybe they were at least somewhat interesting to hear.
Loved your previous video, and this is coming from someone who prefers the remake! People need to learn to handle different opinions >.

They don’t have the same boss fights.

And yet they _both_ fight G1, G2, and G3 in _the exact same spaces_ complete with Annette running in just before the G3 fight to help each of them _separately_ and dying in completely different circumstances afterward.
A/B in the '98 original wasn't perfectly congruent either but they tried then.
Yeah, that's something the original did better.
I also miss zombie Brad and the cutscenes showing that helicopter crashing or tyrants being air dropped into Raccoon City.

EVERY subsequent run after that, despite me being better at the game and knowing exactly what to do, has taken me multiple tries and i've even died more than a few times on it. i guarantee most of those comments were from people playing normal, just getting lucky like i did and they didn't actually play the game multiple times like you're intended to
also RE4 is fucking incredible, i seem to have also missed the memo that we should all start hating on it for practically no reason lmao
RE4 is in that weird state where its one of the best games of all time but at the same time kickstarted the downfall of its own series.

@JD Really?

Everything you said about the remake was 100% accurate especially after watching your video over the first resident evil remake
Biggest crime of the remake was not having the line "Hold your fire! Im a human."
i imagine how awkward it would look for Leon to scream that to Marvin lmao
Ada's section wasn't great, and that high tech gadget she uses is rediculously fake especially for 1998.
I mean... it's Resident Evil, since the first game it has been Science Fiction, so what's so weird about it?
Birkin takes damage on his head when he hides the eye, tho. So the comments are wrong. Also, your logic is correct.

Leon locking the gate behind him too left me like 🤔🤦🏻♂️
The exact same Birkin fight was pointless as it didn't work in terms of the story, along with the Annette bits at the end.
And that goes for the rest of the enemies 😍
Claire and Leon not talking on radio was, I suppose a problem basing it on how we were just used to it in the original, but I was easily able to overlook it.
Mr. X was immense and the panic inducing mania he brought was one of the highlights of the new game. I wasn't a fan of his hat though 😂😂
It likely is mostly nostalgia speaking with all my gripes, and the fact we even got a remake blew the collective minds of the RE community, and you are quite obviously a fan of the series, acknowledging how bad 6 really was, or as I called it Resident QTEvil 6. 4 is incredible, and it now stands as scum for some of the community as the catalyst for the downgraded action packed bullshit of 5 and 6.
Honestly the worst part of the RE2 remake is that scenarios A&B aren't different enough
RE4 is the best example of adaptative difficulty.
The game does have it but generally a lot of people don't realize systems like that are hard to make. The game does have it but for specifically because somthing like being in between a room with a clicker and mr x appearing is anger inducing but the ddb is a lot more subtle than that
Most games don't have it to my knowledge because imagine programming every npc while accounting for balance and other mechanics

Ohhh my. You need some praise after those comments =)
How about: I found you through your re2:re video and subbed, while liking the remake more. Your critical thinking was most welcome.
We need more comments like this, enjoying the video because it was well made and accepting criticism even on stuff they like
Like the old saying goes "There's no such thing as bad publicity".
You earned my sub with the Die Hard analogy cause that was brilliant.
Just the original RE2 cut scene where Birkin kills the umbrella special ops. That was more epic and thrilling than anything the 'remake' had to offer
I quit when I realized it takes about 17 headshots to lightly stumble the vanilla zombies.
It was bad, they were just selling nostalgia, they didn't even put effort, just felt rushed
People bad mouthing RE4? This is the first time I am aware that such people even exist!!. Are they just young and instantly dislike it cuz of the controls? Or... I can't even think of a single other reason for someone to dislike RE4.
I didn't know RE2 had spiders and I am very glad they were removed
My arachnophobia will remember that
Same.
I think spiders and giant moths are a far fetch for a zombie story set in a police station, I think it works better for the tone that they were removed
LOL are there people that REALLY think RE4 and RE6 are on the same level?
The "....goo goo gaa gaa" had me dead.
I died like 8 times in a livestream during the crane fight lol
The "Mr X doesn't make sense" comment was probably referring to how he dies halfway through Claire's campaign and yet is still present till the end of Leon's, not why he is there in the first place.
jamister91 there are two of them and that should be apart of the story. Little lazy in my opinion
@Damian black there was probably a zombie in the helicopter. And you don't need cutscenes. They get introduced by an animation.
@Damian black why would he crash then?
Damian black What if the crashed helicopter was the helicopter carrying mr x?
Damian black Man that cop had terrible aim though, I still don't know how he manage to hit that pilot haha.
On my first playthrough i earned a trophy for defeating Berkin with just one hit with the crane..lost alot of ammo in the process😫 was totally worth it cause i had no clue about that achievement at the time..cause it was my first playthrough 😁
oh and iv been a gamer since the early 90's..im not new to resident evil ether..im 33 now lol
1995, eh? That's my birth year 😂😂
First playthrough I didn't have too much trouble with him, but on my second, I tried to save more ammo and only hit him with the crane. As a result, I ended up dying a few times to the crane because he kept grabbing me on the second crane swing. I wouldn't be surprised if they purposely made him grab more often if you haven't been damaging him.
That's what bosses and ammo are for. There is even ammo on the ground.
People are idiots. RE4 is known to be a popular favourite of the franchise that came about at a time where people were getting bored of the same content and changed things up. This is why it's knows as one of the best.
The game revolutionized how RE games were played for god sakes
As a player of the 98 game, I completely agree with your complaints and thought the same while playing the remake.
Nah dude, I agree with the crane boss. Especially when speedrunninng I just get grabbed by him and then killed by crane when I'm trying to save ammo
old comment, but i appreciated how his criticisms weren't clearly driven by nostalgia, everytime the fixed camera angles are brought up as a good thing and should be re-implemented, it just turns me off completely
I screwed up on the crane fight to. Quite a few times.
I think your first video on this made perfect sense.
people just hate :)
Thank you. Some people who think that they're experts and pros are just attention whores trolling others. Dark souls fanboys apparently.
I messed up that fight multiple times too.
I was trying to save ammo not having to down him. All the bosses are pretty easy if you just go rambo honestly.
Man, Resident Evil 4 IS one of the best games ever made. Don’t let anyone convince you otherwise. Probably the most influential third person action game in existence. And it’s nothing like Resident Evil 6.
People get too angry about differences in opinions.
10 months... where is the sexual dark secret of claire revealed?
I would have personally loved for them to implement a mode where you can have tank controls and fixed cameras.
Fuck Yes! That will satisfied both group. I for second thought they were going to do it but sadly I was wrong.
And I wish the FF7 remake had turn-based combat option........why the fuck don't they ever cater to the original fans?
@@mrcocoloco7200 They were but ultimately decided against it due to time constraints. I think this is a stupid claim publishers make to release a game, especially a remake without all the facets of the original.
@@aurancrash4654 Not just time constraints, they said that the new camera looked akin to the original fixed camera when it literally didn't, but it's fine either way because I sucked at fixed cam tank controls 😂😂😂😂
I find it funny those guys saying "spend money or else you..." Typical rich kid attitude.
2 years later and I'm just gonna say YIKES at that Nemesis part of my comment lmao
The reason why people have bad thoughs about RE4 recently is because they try so hard to put RE2 on a high pedestal that if you like other RE game that isn't RE2 they will automaticaly hate you for that.
I've noticed that pattern. It's a disgusting fanboy tactic.
It's just new fans who only played RE2 remake and don't wanna play the others cause they don't have 2019 graphics or 3rd person camera.
I love RE 2. Don’t get me wrong with that. But holy shit NOTHING will ever beat the countless hours of RE 4 I’ve played. RE 4 IMO is astounding
Bruh they're no better than the genwunners. If it's not exactly like the first 3 game it's automatically bad.
Re4 did some good things, but the quicktime events, the way too action orientated cutscenes where way too much;(
Re1 , Re2, Re3 , RE : code veronica , then re4 .
YT is full of people who can't tell the difference between a critique and an insult. You express your thaughts with so much nuance. If people still insult you for doing that, there's no point in engaging with any of them. Those trolls are just time wasters.
Hey, it's residence of evil! They're good people, those guys. Love their podcast
Let this be a lesson that criticizing a AAA game everyone "loves" is akin to openly admitting you like the latest COD game.
We all have these thoughts from time to time, but how dare you express them, Critical Nobody?!
hahahhahhaaa
Resident Evil 4 is one of those games that tears at me. It is a really good game but at the same time it is the one that shifted Resident Evil from Survival Horror to Action Horror. It just doesn't feel like Resident Evil to me.
@British Media Bully Yeah RE4 DID stray away from survival horror, but it was a good game
@British Media Bully yes
The remake was pretty good but like you I wish they took longer developing it so it was more like the original, I think anyone who doesn't think the original is better than the remake is either new to the franchise or was to young to experience them
I love your voice, it sounds so friendly and natural, your videos feel like i'm just talking with a friend and he is talking about a game he played, it makes you stand out from the rest of the critic chanels for me! :D
I like all res ESPECIALLY RE6
Ah, a man of culture, I see.
Honestly i love Re6 i get the hate it gets but imo great game
I like all the resident evil game I can admit when theres a bad one in there like 6 but I had fun with it regardless. The only one I really dont like is operation raccoon city that one sucks.
@@deanmystery5403 I had fun with it, especially whenever my character died from the virus, it's really neat seeing me rip through my former teammates. I liked the gameplay to some extent, except the final battle with the other members of delta squad. My most favorite thing from that is when they introduce the lickers, and you start seeing them swarming around the ceiling.
@@wyattwebb6963 fair enough when I first played it I had fun but trying to play it again I just cant get into it. I'm not saying anyone who likes it is wrong. It's just not my thing.
I feels so bad for this guy man. He deserves so much better than this bullshit. Matter of fact we all do. It sucks that we can’t just give opinions without being interrupted or insulted. The fact that there are people out there that actually take time to write those comments are the real idiots. If you don’t like the content this guy posts or the way he states his opinions do him a favor move the fuck on and watch other stuff. Don’t insult him because he has an opinion. Critical nobody I hope you have yourself a nice RUclips and gaming experience on the games that are to come in the future. Also to anybody else who reads this I hope you have a wonderful week 🤗
I'm curious to know how you feel about the adaptive difficulty in Resident Evil 4.
Never even knew it was a thing until comments told me yesterday. It's an example of excellent implementation cause despite playing RE4 multiple times, I never noticed it.
@@CriticalNobody
About people hating RE4 - yeah, you didn't get the memo on that. It was severely hated when it came out (and many hate it now) for being so different. Not just because it was action oriented, that shit wasn't that bad for people, they hated the different setting and the absence of usual zombies and T-virus.
I love a RE fan that doesn't blow his head off over a game just because it's a new RE entry. I appreciate your objectivity
You resident videos are amazing man keep working on it bro 🙌🏽
I personally enjoyed your video and agreed with some of your points. I haven't played the 1998 version of the game myself, but I have seen some walkthroughs of the game on RUclips. Guess that doesn't make me a "true" fan :). Overall, both games look great and thanks again for stating your personal dislikes on RE2 because man it's like a breath of fresh air.
"I'm not mad. You're mad."
13:11 you know you're making it in your RUclips career when you get a comment like that dude
Lmao kinda true
holy crap i commented on here ?
One sentence from the ending of the original RE2 is enough to top the remake ending...."Chris...I have to find you."
Fuck REmake 2. It's a blatant cash grab and nothing else. Fuck the normies and fanboys.
Came for the hate comments, stayed for the "goo-goo-gaga" 😂
Love your sass to toxic fans! ❤️😍
Love your videos, keep ‘em coming.
I did a no damage hardcore run for Leon and Claire my first time playing this game. The crane fight was a BITCH
Lol
The new design is MUCH better IMO and actually makes sense lore wise unlike the original's design.
@@revenge3265 The original design easily works lore wise. I don't see how it wouldn't?
I think you're spot on. RE2 is enjoyable, but RE1 remake is a superior remake.
Waittttttttttttt since when people decided to hate on re4? Like it's one of the best in the series . And that's comming from die hard fans and not just me. You'd see lots of top survival horror games with re4 being there and in high spots ? Excuse me wtf happened to the community ?
RE4 has long been hated by hardcore fans. Including me.
@@DirectorHMAN There is no such thing as a "hardcore fan". There are only fans that are open for difference, and gullible babies like you who cry when they don't get spoonfed the same formula over and over again

I commented on your other video. I'm just going to copy and paste my response. Lol
I appreciate your very well thought out opinions!
