  • To make a 2WD truck a 4WD you need to add a front axle. The boys are going with the factory set up on this build and are rebuilding the axles before installing them. If you ever wondered what was inside the illustrious and hated Dana 44 TTB this video will show you what’s on the inside… Mongo and Kenny had already pulled the axle apart from the donor truck and Mongo takes the pieces to Rowdy's Wash in Wellsburg, THE official car wash of Mongo's Garage... He gets it as clean as he can while there and we catch up with him as he makes his way out to the garage to off load the parts and start putting them back together. The axle was completely dry due to the differential bolts coming loose and allowing the gear oil to leak out. Mongo uses The Right Stuff on the differential this time through to hopefully stop it from leaking in the future. Once the differential is bolted back into place the axle shaft is installed and the steering knuckle is bolted into place as well. Mongo searched the interwebs for available dust shields for the bull nose fords but did not find any so the spindle goes back on with out the dust shield. The hard to reach places are painted prior to assembly to keep them from rusting. Mongo has used all of the available products to stop undercarriage corrosion but seems to like the rustoleum product the best right now, especially the 15 minute dry time paint that they recent released. Mongo is somewhat impatient when it comes to paint drying, he says he has better things to do then to sit around and watch the paint dry.... Thanks for hanging out with us here in Mongo's garage. We look forward to your visits and enjoy your company. See yinz all again real soon!
