The Boris FX Learn channel allows us to do more longer form courses. Short form tutorials will still be available on the main Boris FX RUclips and the Boris FX website. I'm glad you are liking this style. That's what you're generally going to find here now.
Hey man! Weird, whenever I switch to the Lens module, the Planar Grid disappears - but then comes back when I switch to the Track module. Any idea how to resolve?
@@borisfxlearn Hmmm I was thinking this too. Actually there's no layer at all when I directly go to Stabilize (as this far in the video, nothing has been tracked, no spline tool etc has been used)
You won't see a grid without a layer. The layer defines the boundaries of the Surface/Grid. If you have a timecode on this video where you're seeing something different, then add it as a reply.
@@borisfxlearn Thanks for your patience. Notice at 7:31, there's no layer in the Layers panel on the left hand side. The 'Selected layer' option is active - and I have that too - but there is no layer in the layers panel. That's what I have
I see what you mean now. Just to confirm, you have the Grid button turned on when you're in the Lens module, and you still don't see a grid? Could you just check that you're running the latest point release of your Mocha Pro version. If that still fails, please post this in the forums with your system specs and even a short screen record of the problem if you can. forum.borisfx.com/
Sorry, it may be something basic but is there a way to save the information of the edges of the shot when we calibrate the video or is it something we have to deal with? I have the problem that the truck that I want to track disappears on the right edge of the shot as a result of the calibration, so in that instance mocha stops tracking.
If you're just tracking in the image, then don't worry about rendering the lens module. Track normally after calibration and you should see the plane warping at the edges to compensate for the lens distortion. When you go to apply the data, you will need two things; the lens calibration data to undistort/redistort your plate, and the tracking data with the Remove Lens Distortion option checked. Here's the User Guide section for using Lens data that goes much more in-depth with it : borisfx.com/documentation/mocha/9.5.0/#_exporting_lens_data You're of course always welcome to ask on the forums as well. It's a bit easier to add screenshots there : forum.borisfx.com/
You make up the distorted ones by clicking on multiple sections of it before selecting the next new line. The big straight ones are the ones to go for first.
Congrats! Your tutorials improved a lot: more slow and very detailed! Keep this up. This is the way to go :)

Do you have a layer selected when you go to Lens? It may deselect your layer when moving between modules.

@@borisfxlearn Thank you very much!
I'm confused! When press new line, we chose distorted lines or the straight ones ?
