I miss my banshee. I hope to get another one someday. The sound is awesome the power is nonstop and continues to pull throughout the gears. Dam this makes me truly miss that quad sooo so much. They are a ton of fun for sure
Killer video! You ride that 2 stroke very well! A lot of people don't know to pull the clutch in when you are coasting so you keep that piston and wrist pin nice and happy with gas/oil. Can't wait to see the videos to come.

@@CatsForLife21bro you don't engine break the 2 stroke because you make it run fuel less that in these engines means also oil less. You just break normally also because these engines when you stop accelerating have quite 0 engine break, these are no 4 strokes
@@leobrt9528 Ohh, so do you mean to say, that 2 stroke engines idle higher than 4 strokes so that more oil gets to the cylinders. Do they need to idle higher to get enough oil to the cylinders? Thanks by the way for your previous response.
@@CatsForLife21 no not really, it's because 2 strokes work not by petrol only with a separeted oil flow system like 4 strokes but they run on a mixture of petrol and oil, that you put in the tank directly. So only when accelerating oil goes in the cylinder from the carburetor and tank together with petrol. So no acceleration no oil coming. 4 strokes have a circuit with a pump that work continuously when the engine is on so no problem in that case.
Ever since playing atv off road fury for ps2 I've always wanted one of these. Probably the coolest looking atv design of all time.

I know because I have a new 2006. Sold all my four stroke stuff after buying the banchee and setting her up for MX racing.

I bought mine new in 2004.....and still have it.....once you feel the 2-cycle engine sound and power of the twin cylinders....the 4 strokes are for babies....

Yes banshee is fast and it will beat a Honda trx250R on straight line but trx 250r is a better in trails . It been proven over and over 250r is a better trail machine and in 80's and 90's Honda trx 250r was 4 wheeler of year like 3-4 straight years
You are absolutely correct about the power band. It’s not a part. It’s the range of RPM in which an engine produces the most power. Every engine has one. It’s just more pronounced is some engines such as a 2 stroke.

My lt250r is almost ready. It ain’t a banshee but it’s a 2 stroke quad. I hope it satisfies me

When you are going fast don’t just let off the throttle, when you get to top speed pull the clutch in and rev it as you are slowing down. The engine is still spinning at high rpm and letting off the throttle and coasting is starving it of gas/oil because the carbs are closed in idle position

I used to be a 4stroke rider all my life, my friend found me a stock banshee in Alabama for $4000. I never looked back.... #teambanshee forever

Soooo true. I've had many quads....but there is only 1......banshee. it feels faster then anything else, even if it isn't. It's pure powerband power.

That's what I built for croom and ocala. 4mil ported stock cylinders. ( boost ports ) T5s. Pwk 35s. Transmission mods. Ect. Pretty basic 70 hp.
All the speed on the trails comes from having full long travel elka suspension. Properly dialed in. My bike sits at 50 inches wide. 11 inches of travel.
Not cheap but it works.
These Banshees are crazy.Can wait to see video runs with Raptor!

Man I remember when my 2001 had fmf fatty pipes and had everything else stock just like yours, now it’s a 421 cub, way different animal. As far as jetting, stock main jet is 200 and pilot is 25, with fmf fattys I was at a 280 main, but I’m close to sea level here in SoCal. Whoever set your bike up before did a good job with the tune, I’m curious what jets are in there?
If they still made banshees I’d definitely ask the make a wish for one🤣 but they don’t anymore so fingers crossed For the raptor🤞🏼‼️
I know! If they still made them today I would buy a brand new one today! If you look daily on Facebook marketplace you'll find a nice Banshee eventually.

The Banshee has been on my want list since the early to mid-'90s. They are hard to find around here, so I have been debating an older Yamaha YFZ450 roller with a YZ250 engine and mild mods. I know it has been done before, but not around here.

Loved my banshee. Wish they would have done something with the front suspension over the years. My shee was 1 kick with a slight throttle turn 100% every time start. Throw those pipes in the trash and get some toomey's. Finally had to leave it for a yzf450r... just to save my arms from random rocks and ruts....
Yeah, when a Banshee is cared for they really are a reliable machine. One of the easiest two strokes to start in my opinion.

A good way to describe any 4 stroke engines powerband wether it be a car engine, atv engine, etc. is that most every 4 stroke engine has a linear powerband for the most part while a 2 stroke is more of a radical curve.
These were notorious for standing up in 2nd gear! If you wasn’t ready you was in trouble.

I watched a guy on a stock banshee do donuts on dry pavement lol banshees are one of the best atvs ever made
Banshees spin very easily. I'm not sure if it's where the weight is distributed on the quad or if it's the way the swingarm pivots while delivering power to the ground but either way I've been able to spin the tires on the pavement very easily but my 700 will only lift up as it'll never spin.

@@FREEDOMSYNDICATEOFFICIAL Where did you get such misinfo? I for years try to explain to so many what it means and they would get so mad. THey actually thought it was a physical part on the bike. It has almost no low to mid range power and when it gets to a higher rpm is where its power actually starts to kick in. I guess they thought an actual part would kick in. I think the funniest part is they would look at me like I was the one that was crazy. Ignorance is bliss.
In 1998 when I was 19 I decided to ride my banshee with shorts on in the summer. I had a reverse image of FMF fatty burned on the side of my calf for a few weeks. Everyone thought that was hilarious. I stopped wearing shorts for awhile.

The throttle response is like driving a GT350 when it hits 3500 RPM...the needle just flies to 8250. Not something you jump into & start going stupid, it will bite you. Like a Banshee

Yeah even though my banshee has FMF exhaust it's really not all that loud. About as loud as a stock Raptor. Z400 is a nice machine! Have fun and be careful!
