    I agree. I’m a big fan of ‘07 and earlier internationals with the Cummins. No DPF and if you get one with an N14, no EGR. The Internationals are super easy to find parts for and they are cheap. Especially a 9400, because they made them for over a dozen years and most of the hard parts are interchangeable.

    August 2020 you motivated me to buy an 08 VNL and 267,000 miles later still running great. Just bought turbo and charge air cooler.

    The ONLY thing I like about the newer style trucks is that when you look out the windshield you can actually see out and down in front of the truck, so that you don't have this gargantuan, 30 foot blind spot right in front of the truck.

    Better choice would be a 1998 - 2003 (some 2004) Volvo VNL with a 12.7 detroit and 13 speed manual transmission.
    The 1998 - 2003 (some 2004) Detroit 12.7 engines are pre-egr, unlike the 14 liter.
    Also, the volvo is much more aerodynamic which translates to thousands of dollars savings on fuel vs that brick of a freightliner. The downside is the space under the hood.

    Very nice. It was going to be the Series 60 or D12 for me. My ‘07 D12 13 speed has been working out great so far. Comfy, great turning radius. Chipping away at all of the things to make it solid.

    I had a 07 Classic Xl with a C15, absolutely loved that hood man. But that Cat was killing me in fuel cost, repair cost for the Cat were double that of my Detroit.. I had to sell it and brought old ass Century that I brought back to life! Averaging 7.5 to 8.5 on fuel compared to 5-5.5 with the Cat.. Never again!

    I agree, avoid emissions as possible. But fully 1/8, 12.5% of all freight is going to, or coming from California. Non emission trucks are not allowed here 😖. But, if you don't plan on trucking to California, then yeah.

      Why would anyone go to California

    As far as new trucks go, why don’t you guys have any Cascadia? I know Freightliner is not the most comfortable and ride rough but I’m in one now and it sure is reliable and easy to fix.

    The only thing that would make that Pete better is if it has a series 60 in it, If it has a Cat/ISX in it then your expenses just doubled repairs and fuel consumption are horrible!

    Good truck . But the only downside is fuel economy as a start up. Mayb a Columbia or century with 12.7 or 14.0 and a 13 speed. Would b best coming straight out the gate. Due 2 aerodynamics.... Am I wrong or right ?

    • @TruckYoo
      @TruckYoo  Год назад +1

      I would say. Slow down . you could get those Classics to 7s if engine is healthy and you are not going 75mph every day.
