Same for me, I am also on a Mac using the same PPT, and when I get to the final step in Canva it doesn't delete the filled image portion instead, it deletes the entire frame.

What if you don't have powerpoint? Is there another place we can create this?
So I tried this and once it converted it to shape it changed it from the actual shape I needed it to to a square. 😢
one its made can you save it to your canva uploads to use over and over or do you have to keep doing this every time u wanna use a custom frame?

Argh, I followed the steps, but after uploading the PDF into canva and clicking delete, it deletes the whole image. Of course it would happen to me. So it didn't work
I've watched so many of these tutorials and it doesn't work for me. I've tried it through Powerpoint, Figma, Illustrator. When the upload is in canva, it deletes the entire image, refusing to just detach image from frame.

Worked for me. I used a basic shape but when I deleted the image the shape got distorted.
Is there a way to do this without having a subscription to Powerpoint? You didn't put Powerpoint in the title or the description.

this works with every shape except rectangles, i cant create a rectangular frame

I tried it with my own picture of me and my husband. background removed. Made us black with an effect and saved as SVG. When I open it in powerpoint and convert it as a shape, the complete graphic is black block. What am I doing wrong in Canva?

What version of Powerpoint are you using>? I have 2016 and there is not a convert to shape
Try opening it in Word. Then go to shape fill and fill with picture. Then save it as a PDF and import it into Canva.

In powerpoint, I don't see the button on the graphic format section when having the graphic selected, that says, "Convert to shape". It is fully inconspicuous

Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I tried it, and it works, but it doesn't work for sliced frames with 1 picture. On the presentation, when I grouped all the sliced frames and filled the picture, it worked, but when I imported it back to Canva, the images were subdivided, meaning each piece was not connected. I hope you have another video for that.
Thank you!!! So helpful. One suggestion: On the last step you have to click on the image, right click and choose DETACH. The video sounds like you were saying "hit delete." Maybe add some captions to the video to assist the viewer.
Thank you for making such a great video. It was very helpful. I noticed many people have ran into this issue and have provided instructions using various outside programs. I’m hoping Canva listens to all the instructions out there and hopefully realizes they should build a feature within their own program to allow people to automatically do this process. if you think you have the ear of Canva, would you please pass this along even if it’s in video format?
Feature request that would make you Canva users ecstatic:
1. Automatic export and import of file so Canva user does not have to transfer it through the Internet back-and-forth but the process would be emulated instantly by Canva.
2. Automatic conversion of black colors into custom frame shapes.
I see lots of information regarding how to do things like make custom frame shapes. That and many other commonly performed functions should be a built-in feature in Canva. Too many users are exporting/downloading only to then immediately import/upload the file back to Canva so that they can continue using Canva for other steps.
Can you use canva app on phone for custom frames
You can use the custom frames on your phone, but not to make a custom frame if that makes sense

How would in do this with a 50 letter font poem. It won't group merge the shapes to single layer so I have to paste image and adjust 50 times.... anyone? I have Gimp if I need it.

What if I have a pattern that I want to turn into a drag in drop to create my own 40 oz tumbler designs? I am having issues doing this.

I've attempted this several times with no luck. I am trying to make a template for Canva with 1" x 6" rectangles to fill up a standard 8.5 x 11 piece of paper. What am I doing wrong?
I dont know why it don't work with rectangles, if you make the rectangle a little jagged it works, but not straight rectangle its kind of annoying,
