I am always blown away b how much they both matured in the matter of 3-4 years.. They look like women here and in the Seether video they look like kids.
Amazing how back in the 90's, interviews with women rockers were taken as artists and musicians. Now, they would have to talk about who they are dating, hair and make-up tips, tofu and vegan recipes, all the while the interviewer is telling them they look hot every other sentence. Why did we regress in the 2000's???
Kim Cornell Blame it on the shift that happened around 1998 and after : nu metal/rap metal (very male oriented and macho - Limp Bizkit, Kid Rock, anyone ?) and pop "artists" like Avril Lavigne. There weren't that many women rockers in the mainstream anymore after the late 90s.
The simple answer which I have surmised is that it was the end of alternative rock in the mainstream: the alternative era was the woman's best friend and it was the time when there was a chance for egalitarianism and being equal. And it was starting to happen too. Defining what makes a woman rocker, we have to ask ourselves what is she; and if we are to take the example of Veruca Salt, then it is women in self-control and with all-say. The 90's was the best time for this. It was also the period when women could be more than something stereotypical and have greater say and expression and not just be defined as that "chick". To be women rockers they did not have to only be an attitude-fueled punk band or an overly rock frontwoman, and by-definition, alternative rock allowed this to happen in many examples. I thought that the early 2000s showed us some of what could have been the next generation of women rockers influenced by this, but I blame the rise of shows like "American Idol" and the "Me" culture, societal shifts and just the present quiet state of rock for why we lost women in rock and, alas, reverted back.
@@theearthmovesagain Good point. Also the rise of rap/ hip hop is to blame as well imo. All media completely took out rock in the last 15 years and only supported rap, which had women in the back as dancers, all while dancing to lyrics calling them "bitches and ho's".
Nina and Louise are incredibly sexy on stage. The timbre of their combined voices is completely bright and alive. Now I know why the girls went nuts over the Beatles.
Nina: Isn't it cool when bands have reprises on records? We forgot to do that!! Louise: Oh we'll have plenty more records, plenty more chances to do that! :( this part makes me sad
Ninas like the pop princess, and Louise is like, the ....I guess you coould say a bit gothic, but she def. has a bit of an edge and a little touch of a girl sense to her.. Like this if you agree
The sad thing about this bad is you can see from their first album, yeah they did have the Pixies influence going on, but later you can see/hear the whole corporate influence. They went from DIY and Albini produced to super slick sounds/videos and replaced their music nerd backing band with 90210 poster boys.
Anyone else notice them playing footsy the whole time? They're so adorable together. I wish Nina would get over it, already, and get her act together. I wonder how often she gets nose bleeds.
Just learned that Louise used to date Dave Grohl and did backing vocals on Everlong (Foo Fighters) ....... and called it in , recorded over the telephone. Listen for it. It's there.
I love Nina's debut solo album, even if it is girly... she can still rock out when she wants, which I respect. Her musical tastes are similar to mine, but I think her strengths lie in her avant pop music sensibility (a la the Velvet Underground) which she brought to Veruca Salt. But that's not to say Louise isn't as brilliant a songwriter, they just have different sounds.
Hey, I'm Reality, nice to meet you. Not to butt in or anything, but I have never once heard modern interviewers ask any benign or sexual questions as such. Questions are still very much about the music, records, and what the artists are up to personally. You're kind of jumping the shark big time here.
I'm a major Nina Gordon fan, and her last record (Bleeding Heart Graffiti) didn't do anything for me. Louise Post had the edge and angst while Nina Gordon had the vocal ability, sense of humour and songwriting smarts. They really did sound better together, though I loved Tonight and the Rest of My Life.
I hear ya. But you have to admit, Louise did have gorgeous dark hair (and I'm not one to usually go for dark haired chicks). But even if her hair was in a mess, she'd still be awesome because she rocks out like the devil. 'American Thighs'. What a fuckin' brilliant album. Desert Island pick for sure.
then do me a favor, i'm not being a smartass.. i genuinely need to see it. show me a good modern alternative rock band, and an interview which might make me like them.
Who said an interview will make you like a band? The point is that there ARE good interviews out there. Clearly you've never seen anything Henry Rollins has done. There's been many interviews in the last decade that were rad. Shit with The Twilight Sad, Inquisition, Mike Patton, Brant Bjork, Baroness, etc etc. Why do you need me to look up crap for you anyways? If you're so determined for proof, then actually look for it.
I'm fully aware who the comment I jumped on was directed too. Doesn't change the fact that the statements about "Nowdays all the questions would be about how they look, who they are having sex etc etc" is complete bull. And clearly you haven't watched interviews with any worth while artists. Seems to me your assumption is solely based on the pop world. The majority of the rock and metal scene doesn't suffer from any of what you speak.
First of all, the comment you jumped on was adressing an earlier dumb comment. let it slide for the greater good. Second, though it might not be exactly like that.. just who actually gives a good interview these days? half the artists couldn't tell you shit about the songs cause they didn't even write them, and the questions are more focused around the artists gimmicky persona, and their hot aired status as a 'role model', speaking to them almost solely as celebrities and not musicians.
If you're gonna get shitty then don't reply. I'm a fan of Rollins, and his interviews are good - but the problem is the bands. There's alot of pretentious trendy crap going around just parroting cliche's. I'm not the one 'determined for proof', that's your case and i was just giving you a chance to make it. if the next comment is only going to consist of "Clearly you haven't" digs, don't bother. Condescending is a cheap way to inflate yourself.
I am always blown away b how much they both matured in the matter of 3-4 years.. They look like women here and in the Seether video they look like kids.
They were in their late 20s when they put Seether out. They just dressed liked high school kids.
Nina Gordon in leather trousers is the best thing ever.
Took ‘em for granted in the 90s. Now the river’s run dry in 2020.

Our Civilization is over its peak since 2000

Because now they aren't artists they're products.
louise is goooorgeous geeez
Nina and Louise are incredibly sexy on stage. The timbre of their combined voices is completely bright and alive. Now I know why the girls went nuts over the Beatles.
I saw them at the Edgefest '97 show in Dayton, OH and they rocked.
Nina: Isn't it cool when bands have reprises on records? We forgot to do that!! Louise: Oh we'll have plenty more records, plenty more chances to do that! :( this part makes me sad
Famous last words ☹️
Yea :(
Um, they're back.
They just dont make bands like they used to. One of the best underated bands of all time. Hands down.
Dude louise is so hot
Ninas like the pop princess, and Louise is like, the ....I guess you coould say a bit gothic, but she def. has a bit of an edge and a little touch of a girl sense to her..
Like this if you agree
A goth Louise... hmmm, brings a certain Clan of Xymox track to mind.
man were those some great times!!!! "98"
that's great to hear if that's true. what a band and what songsmiths these two lovely gals are!
These 2 really need to make a new album together.
The sad thing about this bad is you can see from their first album, yeah they did have the Pixies influence going on, but later you can see/hear the whole corporate influence. Memorables años 90s.
LOVE 90'S
She's looks like Fairuza balk
Fairuza in ‘The Craft’... HOT.
Nina!
"we love wearing our influences on our feet, KISS Destroyer boots, ready for arena rock"
Anyone else notice them playing footsy the whole time? They're so adorable together. I wish Nina would get over it, already, and get her act together. I wonder how often she gets nose bleeds.
I remember Seether being a longer song
exactly...i agree ... you have to love louise
I am big fans of the original Veruca Salt...BEST GAL ROCK BAND EVER!
hello from the future -- good news, they are back together with all 4 original members.
I see you have never heard of Heart....
its kinda sad at at 2:58 wen louise said "we have many more chances"
if Nina and the other members stayed in the bad, they would of been very big
Why did Nina have to leave? I love her! And she had the best singer voice
They nearly eclipse Pinfield's handsomeness.
I used to be in love with louise
I love Veruca Salt so much. They're both hott. ^^
Just learned that Louise used to date Dave Grohl and did backing vocals on Everlong (Foo Fighters) ....... and called it in , recorded over the telephone. Listen for it. It's there.
That's why I'm here too! I'm gonna have to re-listen to their first album right now. Probably haven't listened to it in 20+ years.
The sum of these two is definately WAY greater when they are NOT apart.
apparently they ARE over their rift, they're friends again, but they've each moved onto other things than what they used to have.
I love Nina's debut solo album, even if it is girly... she can still rock out when she wants, which I respect. I miss Louise's dark hair. I think shes beautiful with dark hair. so isnt nina.

4:02 Destroyer Boots - Yeah Baby (Austin)
@BLACKMAGICNIGHT no she is not anymore.
dave grohl = yoko ono
Why is it now a Beiber but old days I felt not such a Beiber feel. Today, these childs have ears of corn.
Correction, WAS. Nina is still a major babe.
Nina and Louise were both very sexy in their day. The years haven't been kind to Louise. But Nina still looks fit
yes, that was pretty strange
Who said an interview will make you like a band? The point is that there ARE good interviews out there. Clearly you've never seen anything Henry Rollins has done.

i love louise, she is sooo hot !!!!

I used to think these two were sisters :) even lesbian lovers hahaha . They sure do rock and their hot foxy chicks

You've gotta be kidding me...lol.
My fav is Louise ))) Hottie
@Kaicoyote True dat. :D
911 destroyed the music industry.
Its all Dave Grohl's fault too!
This video makes me dislike Nina even more than I already did.
Great interview though.
If you’re still alive, WHY?
nina is hotter.
Who gives a f--- about their hair, man? Listen to the music instead. :)
