@TonyaDavidson well it is pricey for a hand held torch but i think it can cover most if not all soldering jobs if you use all three tips, being hand held makes it versatile, i have a proxxon one and it solders quite good but need a bigger flame for thicker parts...for melting a regular propane plumber torch on refillabe cylinder is best...
I have the regular orca and I’m having a really difficult time with it. It sputters and won’t flow well or stay lit for long and it’s practically brand new. It is hard to light then it goes out all the time. Any tips would be awesome.
1) you are using propane correct. If yes, the first thing I would do is get a new tank to see if that’s the issue. 2) make sure the ambient air nozzle is closed. 3) make sure your torch tip is clean (ultrasonic plus compressor blow out). If it’s new, then try a new tip. The tip might be mismanufactured. 4) make sure that you test the fittings and the hose for no leaks with winded or any sort of soapy water (no oil based products) 5) contact the mfg
@ yes I changed the tank. I noticed the propane spurting out as liquid ? And when I would go to light it, it would make a big sort of WHOOMPH!! Then go out again? I don’t have an ultrasonic yet. Should I soak the tip in hot water and soap instead? I have only used to small tip as that is what I need it for most of the time but I will try the other tips. This torch makes me very nervous to be honest.
@@Shukarr what size is your propane tank? There is one regulator for 20 pound tanks and 1 for 1lb tanks. You should definitely call the distributor from whom you bought it.
@@Shukarr You are not alone. I was given this advice: To bleed an orca: extinguish the torch. Close the regulator tightly. Open the torch again & light it. Wait until the flame goes out completely on its own. Close it, open it all the way again & leave open. Keeping the regulator tight, unscrew from the bottle. Leave bottle standing upright. If it ever falls over wait at least an hour before use. Take your detached hose & tip & hang vertically on a shelf or wall with the torch head completely open. This will help any trapped additives escape. Point the torch head down to the floor You can get bad bottles of propane & bad torches (more likely the torch) . With the bottles they can have unbalanced additives, and you end up with exploding messes/flame throwers/sticky black flammable tar & other nasty business.
Tonya, I’m trying to buy some of your recommended supplies on your website and I keep getting a message thatthe website is being impersonated and it is not private “ from Safari. I thought I should tell you immediately in case there is a problem for your business. I’ve been hacked 3 times so I’m alerting you. I still want to buy the supplies though. Please advise. Thank you and I hope there is nothing wrong with it.
The Recommended Products are a direct link to Amazon. I have nothing to do with their website. My own shop for supplies is run by Shopify and they definitely are secure. We are reporting this to Shopify now to see if they can investigate. We appreciate you bringing it to our attention. We hope this is a temporary glitch and that they can solve it quickly. Many thanks! PS- You are welcome to send screen shots to tonya@tonyadavidson.com anytime so we can forward them but without them it is difficult to replicate. However we are seeing an anomaly on this end on Dec 27th that is being reported to Shopify.
It’s now fixed but may take some time to propagate through to all. There was an issue with our domain. It had nothing to do with Shopify. Thank you so much for alerting us to the issue. Let me know if you have other questions. You have my email now. Cheers!

Thank you for the demo! Do you know if the opened Orca tip increases the heat of the flame significantly?
@@ellecools yes it would and does
How much silver or gold can if melt with a large tip, if you've tried?
@@Bobi_Rudi I have not tried this. I would say zero gold and only small amounts of silver.
