  • Do you want to go and just test every glaze combination you can? How about mixing together different glazes that you have at home to make another glaze? wonder how they turn out?In this video I am firing all the Frankenglazes! The second part of this video next week will show all the different glazes I used.
books I use for glaze recipes
Mastering cone 6 glazes. after looking around I think a lot of glazes are semi made from this book. I was watching RUclips and saw this intriguing recipe which will now be added to my glaze hoard. then I realized I saw the base before. Yep I am a nerd because I recognized it. lol it was a base recipe in this book

    Amazing Glaze
I use Purple, Odyssey clear and Odyssey white, Chun, floating blue, Spearmint. my first glaze I ever made was from this book
    amzn.to/3xPpFlK
This is the second iteration of Amazing Glaze. it has some cool recipes in it. I am next going to try tickled pink
    amzn.to/3DRmNIP
John Britt's book has a vast amount of recipes.
my favorites so far are John's Cash Blue, Licorice, Lynette's Opal, Odyssey celedon (I also added 0.75% cobalt oxide and it is a bright blue celadon), ....okay I have a million more to try
    amzn.to/3C7vVb8
Like I said I have and have used all these books and working on finding the best for my clay bodies. T mix 6 from Trinity Ceramic Supply, buffalo wallow, B-3, and now about to try Trinity's Spectacular clay for the speckles.
For some reason there is a shortage of screens to run the gazes through. my company luckily had scrap solar shade material I am attaching to a pvc pipe to use on my testers
My new Frankenglazes are mixtures of my already existing glazes. The chemical composition would be was too complicated to mix all together lol. I just wanted to see if I could use glazes I already have and get something cool but different. Have to say I have some now that look really promising

Hey! My theory is The Al's base had so much Gerstly Borate in it and other glazes with load of flux over it make those glasses run for the hills. in Al's base the Gerstly is 50% which is a lot of flux and combined with other glazes it runs like water. To prevent running tomthe shelf I would just do a tiney small dip on rims rathe then half or full way down. I would say go even less then 1/4th down from the rim over Al's base to have it work out. Great job on all of these! Love the whole thing!!!

I wrongfully accused your base! The one that ran so bad was a new one I tried called Lumos. I got Al's base to behave by reducing the specific gravity. It minded its own business lol. But I do want to use it as my oatmeal and in that I want my running lol. It is an amazing glaze to use

My gosh these are amazing!!! I love that you did this! That first bowl is awesome!!!! Did you put kiln wash on your cookies? That came off so easily! I would so very much appreciate if you would show how you grind glazes off. Especially how you do it when the pot wasn’t on an advancer shelf!!! Omg that one mug has its own coaster!! Hahaha it looks like the glaze sizzled on that shelf!!!! I LOVE the glazes that have the dots in them!! Can’t wait to see the glaze combo video.

I do put kiln wash on the cookies. I have a diamond core sanding disc that is a 60 grit. The bad ones are just going to be done for lol. Thank you so much for watching and commenting. I really appreciate it

Hi Kat, I love how you keep on experimenting and learning! You just never give up! I hope to start making glazes in the near future too. For now it's my trusty clear glaze and lost of sgraffito, until I can buy raw materials to start mixing those glazes. 😆

@@KatAtkinson I saw a few beautiful results! I use the MS29 From Laguna in dry mix at the moment. I works well with all my colored slips with Mason stain. I am planning to try the Hansen 5x 20 and the 2167 when I have raw materials.
