    Matej and Zuzana Dolinay have many passions, but topping the list are venomous snakes and educating people. Combining the two into a single mission, this driving force has taken them across the globe in search of our planet’s rarest snake species, documenting these findings and sharing the results on their successful RUclips Channel, Living Zoology.@LivingZoology
    Their next adventure takes them to the remote jungles along the west coast of Africa, in the country of Togo. Here, they hope to make a documentary film about the “Western Green Mamba”, one of the most venomous snakes in the world. Out of the four mamba species spread out across Africa, this is the only one that has eluded the lens of the Living Zoology team.
    As their educational expedition unfolds, a surprising similarity emerges, the ironic parallels between working with deadly snakes, and the tenets of living in a healthy relationship. These “Figures” progress throughout the film and romantically capture our zoologists, echoing the love they have for capturing snakes.
    “Figures” is a heartfelt adventure that is gripping for the wildlife enthusiast and romantics alike. It is a film set in remote and unusual parts of the world and yet, its message is relatable to everyone. Even those with a terrible phobia of snakes will be set at ease and come away with a big smile on their face. At its core, this film is a real life, behind the scenes look into how professional wildlife filmmakers get the job done. Through thick and thin, giving you a true, authentic experience for how it is actually like traveling across the planet to document deadly venomous snakes.

    I hope I can find a partner who shares the same interests too, I'm always out alone and really sometimes I wish I had someone to share it with. It definitely would make everything even cooler 🤞
    Is it a film/documentation about your life?

      Thank you! Finding a right partner who has the same passion and in our case, work ethics and dedication, is not easy. We got lucky here. We were looking for someone to join us in Togo in March 2023 and Rhett was very interested. It turned out that he wants to make a film about us and our passion :) Importantly, he is also excited to portray our work with no overdramatization and we were a part of the filming process (all drones are ours, GoPro footage is ours).

      Thank you, we really appreciate it! The first one is the Blanding's cat snake and the second one is the Mangrove snake :) My Ph.D. was focused on phylogeography of puddle frogs in Central Africa, I described 3 new species of frogs.

    • @bradsillasen1972
      @bradsillasen1972 11 месяцев назад

      @@LivingZoology3 new species, Wow! With all the field work you do maybe you'll find more :)
      Phylogeography? I'm guessing that would have to do with speciation in geographic/genetic isolation?
      The Blanding's Cat Snake's head look almost cobra like in your video. Great looking animal there.
      As for the Mangrove Snake, I assume that is distinct from the Mangrove Snake (Boiga dendrophila) of SE Asia?

    • @LivingZoology
      @LivingZoology  11 месяцев назад +1

      @@bradsillasen1972 Maybe we will find more, who knows! 🙂 Phylogeography combines data from phylogeny with geographical history, for example I was studying the speciation in puddle frogs and comparing it with the history of montane/lowland forests of Central Africa. The Blanding’s cat snake was beautiful! The photos in the trailer are from our past, the Mangrove snakes are from Bali 🙂
