dude i love him!! hadoken? unicorn? goro? jedi's crystal? flux capacitor? man... i never knew stevic when ever use those words for his line 6 variax shuriken guitar.
Awesome!! I love my Variax, and have been wanting to really bush the boundaries in this way that only the Variax can allow! Nice to see someone out there already doing it! Maybe Stevic could give us a rig rundown, and show us how he sets up his POD HD500+ with his amp(s), and maybe share his tones on the Line 6 Tones website?
I got my hd500x and l2t monitor. now I just need another l2 and my variax jtv89f and I'm n set. I play in a lot of cover bands and it would be nice to have one guitar do it all. BTW I got this set up because of you stevic. you guy are amazing and my 9 year old boy loves your music. see you at open air fest in September.
Great stuff. I play a SSS Tyler Variax 69 into a HD500X with my 85 Pro Co Rat in the effects loop It's a great combo 'All this machinery making modern music can still be open hearted' Being able to change guitar models on the fly is not just a huge TIME saver, and makes otherwise impossible compositions possible to play live- it's incredibly helpful as a tool when you are composing Stuck on the bridge or verse etc? 'Changing tuning can produce new chord voicings , inversions, riffs etc that help you write and arrange a song Would honkyvtonk woman be what it is without open G? Who knows?
Yeah Man !!! The Variax features are awesome on the Line 6 Series Pedals !! I am like you & do not know much about it yet but you Sound Amazing coming through the Rig !!! I dig it too !!! & that is a killer Axe as well !!! It was nice to see that they used a decent Axe to support their cause !! Looks nice & solid !!! & sounds even better than what I expected !! Thanks 4 Sharing Stevic !!! Rock On Bud !!! I know I will !!!
Line 6 75W spider here....the best budget amp on the market I have seen...like getting a quality pedal and powerful for it's size amp in one (@350-400$$). Most excited I have been about new equipment since the Digitech RP-6 (Blue, weighed around 10 pounds with a metal enclosure) that I paid 420$$ for back in the mid 90s. (no amp included, was plugging into anything with a 1/4" male plug)......RP-6 had better voices, but Line 6 came ready to go in seconds, with a kick ass 75w 12" speaker. Yes RP-6 had more adjustments, but did not come with quick loop and track features.
Line6 Variax. They are based on piezo pickups rather than traditional magnetic and with that Line6 mojo behind it, you can turn that guitar into pretty much any guitar type including acoustics, sitar, banjo etc. Same thing as amp modeling, just for guitars. Its not perfect but its extremely impressive.
When my guitar teacher taught me Mother Sky several years back, we used a bizzare tuning, like eBGBF#B or something; like standard at the top for the acoustic riffs, but drop B on the bottom for the heavy riffs. Made for some interesting sounds, but somehow worked for the song. The variax would've made things easier...
The only, ONLY issue with the Variax, is the dreaded "thomp" on high gain palm muting. You can hear it in this video, but he's smart enough not to tight chunk too much. Each model is different. The JTV89 isn't too bad, but the JTV59 is terrible (the one I had). I'm hoping the Shuriken is better, but I won't buy one until I can test it out first. Did a blind buy on the JTV59, and while I loved the guitar, that issue kept it from being the workhorse I was hoping it would be.
the guitar plugs to the POD HD500 with a cat5 cable (computer) so the pod can store the guitar model selected on the guitar and the amp model(s) on the POD that you want for each patch. If you want to use the magnetic pick ups on the guitar you can do that too with no need to use a separate cord.
Yes there is a need? I play in a band that uses 3 different tunings. So if i can just use one guitar instead of 3 and get a bad ass sound then it'd be easier than switching over for every song...
I love you guys but I seriously can't wait when you get that Fractal AxeFX endorsement and ditch LineDicks. Just don't change your haircuts, especially you Steve.
Fractal dont endorse anyone that i know of. They have mentioned artists. Fractal also dont support variax technology which is what this video and twelve foot ninja are all about in terms of his setup. Besides the Line 6 Helix seems better in some ways than the axe fx
1:32 Holy shit that acoustic channel sounds amazing... best acoustic effect I've ever heard on an electric guitar...

This dude is a weapon. Imagine how your entire understanding of the instrument would evolve if you got to spend a week with him.
A download of that drop A patch would be wonderful :D
We need more videos like this one but in more detail…
Keep them coming and thanks for doing these videos..
I'll busy for the rest of the year paying off my new used Variax.

Have to be fair though...RP6 has wah pedal and footboard. But the 12" 75watt in the spider makes it ready to go.
gotta love this tech...hours and hours of fun
Those acoustic simulations alone are worth you purchasing both the Variax and the Helix.
I've Been Busy Eating Biscuits!
Stevic Rocks and 12ft ninja Rocks the World
that is very awesome!! i need that!
how does he get such a clean acoustic guitar sound on the pod HD???
I would love to know the same thing
ownageyeahful variaxe

That's a common Aussie tuning haha, karnivool uses it a lot.

I have that same lamp. Two of em, actually.

You keeping busy, Stevic? How busy would you say you have been?
I love that no matter the video its guaranteed its gonna have a bunch of "Fuckin oath i've been busy!" or some variation comments.
i swear that intro sounds like a cloudkicker song
Yes it does
Line 6 seriously need to consider building left hand Variax models again and maybe I'd upgrade my old 500 series!
Make a set neck or neck-through flying v with an original Floyd Rose, and I'm sold.
4:06 Laughed my ass of when the distorted sound cam in hahahahahha
Very cool
basically like drum triggers for every string yeah?
Is he playing through his tube amp using the 4-cable method?
Jose Izquierdo He is going direct out of the POD HD, actually.
He is busy little beaver!!!
Anyone else humming the vocals in their head on the background music? :P
If you use the variax with the pod hd do you need a battery for the guitar or does it have phantompower then ?
Lecker Pfannkuchen As long as you connect with the variax cable, the battery is bypassed.
ahh cool thanks :)
Hola! I have been busier than a cat. And I'm busy now, so please someone tell me what's the name of the pedal he is using.. thanks!
THATS HOW YOU DO IT!!!
Been busy have ya?!?
can someone tell me the name of intro song?
+Phil Necro its the breakdown in 'Deluge' by Twelve Foot Ninja
the hadoken of......master
I absolutely love it when you bury your shit on concrete 💕💕💕💕
Is it me or is it the amp doing all that adjustment and not the guitar?
the guitar plugs to the POD HD500 with a cat5 cable (computer) so the pod can store the guitar model selected on the guitar and the amp model(s) on the POD that you want for each patch. If you want to use the magnetic pick ups on the guitar you can do that too with no need to use a separate cord.
Like that...
Can you do this for bass?
is there really a need to do this on bass tho? get a 5 string, tune to drop A and you got all the tones covered :P
Yes there is a need? I play in a band that uses 3 different tunings. So if i can just use one guitar instead of 3 and get a bad ass sound then it'd be easier than switching over for every song...

Gotta change the subject: Stevic 'talks' the impossible with JTV... too much talking IMHO.

everyone who says line 6 is shit clearly has no idea what possibilites it gives you. and getting better every time I follow some products
Jakey Ch'i
I know, I like line 6 just fine. You just get the uber gear snobs that gotta shit on everything.
MrTwatwaffle007 those types prefer gear that does one thing well, can't do anything else and costs 5 times as much
