"i've guest starred on more shows than i've watched" another banger another banger by shayne topp from icarly, fred: the show, sam & cat, and henry danger
Just like it's weird seeing Shayne being counted as a normie even though he's the only one at Smosh that I have ever seen that even worked with Nickelodeon.
I would argue that its easily the best animated show ever made. It's head and shoulders above any western cartoon including Batman TAS and JL. I would say it's better than any anime I've seen as well.
This is the collab that I didn't know I needed. (Tho low key strange to see Mac at a normal level of energy) Though I absolutely need to see Mac come back for a try not to laugh
"And no Nicktoons" The SpongeBob question: *Am I a joke to you?* "Into the snick of it"...well played Damien. Backyardigans songs were ahead of their time. The fact Zach Tyler Eisen played both Aang AND Pablo (in season 1) just proves how glorious those two shows are. Also, TV Land isn't a sister within the Nick family at Viacom. NickMusic is. And Nick at Nite if you count that one
"like if they had one episode of a show and it didn't work and so they stopped" Adventure Time comes to mind....they aired a pilot short on Nicktoons Network, and passed on it twice in favor of Fanboy & Chum Chum...yeah
I love that there are some people who are going to go to Mac's channel, not knowing who he is, and have to discover for themselves the blessed content he creates
"cause Nickelodeon didn't become cartoons until like the 2000s" ...the first Nicktoon created was Doug, back in 1991 (before Doug became a Disney show). So all the Nicktoons from the 90s I watched like Rugrats, Doug, Hey Arnold, Ren & Stimpy Show, CatDog, Rocko's Modern Life, Aahh Real Monsters, KaBlam, Angry Beavers, are all a lie? Yeah they had a lot of game shows back then, but Nicktoons were prominent too, so it was more of a mix between live action and cartoons *Guess I'm the Nick Stan*
Lol yeah with a few exceptions (Avatar, Fairly Odd Parents, Spongebob for most of its run) every iconic Nickelodeon cartoon franchise I can think of was in the 90s.
I felt so ANCIENT when he said that. I remember the day they introduced Doug, Rugrats, and Ren & Stimpy in 1991. (Ren & Stimpy was REAL crazy for a 5-year-old to watch.)
I was looking for this exact comment. He said he spent all of quarantine watching Nickelodeon documentaries, but.... doesn’t really seem like he’s very familiar with Nickelodeon?
Growing up in the 90s, my brain went "wait a second..." when Mac said Nick didn't really become animation until the 2000s. Rugrats, Hey Arnold, Angry Beavers, KaBlam, and Doug were my jam as a kid, but I hadn't thought about them in so long. I learned so much from this episode that I hadn't known about Nick since like 2003.
I had the exact same reaction, and then realized...wait...even though some of the best cartoons were during that era, it really was predominantly live action.
Oh no, you’re not crazy. Mac CLEARLY doesn’t seem like the Nickelodeon stan Smosh is saying that he is if he really thinks Nicktoons didn’t exist until the 2000’s. I’m over a minute in and already I have a bad feeling Mac is going to get a lot of shit wrong. If anything, I’M a Nickelodeon stan. Not just because I still watch the channel considering they have tons of great content on right now, but because I know Nickelodeon didn’t originate in the 90’s. They originated on April 1, 1979. And that was when they were first called Nickelodeon.
When that Snick question came up, my first thought was back to whenever my life gets me so down, I know I can go down to where the music and the fun never ends. As long as that music keeps playing, you know what I'm saying, I know that I can find a friend...
I`ve had this connection to Shayne for a long time. The type - this dude is probably fun to talk to. I`ve always wondered where it came from. Today, after him saying "The Last Airbender" is probably the best show out there, made it clear.
This is one of the most underrated Smosh Games videos I've ever watch, and I like it. And the Spongebob prequel show that Kimmy was referring to, was actually Spongbob Squarepants: Kamp Koral, which it's like a prequel to the main show. The Spongebob spinoff show was The Patrick Star Show.
Doug, The Ren & Stimpy Show, and Rugrats. On August 11, 1991, the three cartoons premiered as part of a 90-minute block, becoming the first branded Nicktoons.
I have been trying to remember the name of The Brother Garcia tv show my whole adult life. I use to watch that show religiously and couldn’t think of the name. Thank you Mac! Ohmygosh!

It’s so funny that I remembered when Nickelodeon was called “Pinwheel” because I think it was rebranded after I was born, around the mid 1980s
12:47 To answer your question, Damian, Roundhouse was basically a kid-friendly version of In Living Color. Comedy sketches, music, & hip-hop dancing.
Meanwhile, Shayne thought Are You Afraid of the Dark started later than 1992, but he listed All That (1994) and Kenan & Kel (1996).
