I watched this when it came out i wasn't even in my teens and even though it's not a horror movie it scared me more than anything i has seen up to that point. Jeff bridges gives a very strange and creepy performance and glenn close was great as well. I still love this film!!!!
Great film. One of the best thrillers I have ever seen. The performances by Bridges as the guy who may or may not have killed is wife is amazing. Glenn Close is also very good as the defence lawer.

This is one of my favorite movies! Peter Coyote and Robert Loggia both deserved best supporting actor nods. My only complaint is the ending. There was no reason Jack Forrester needed to try and kill Teddy Barnes. She had just helped him get acquited and then found out he was guilty (that old reliable typewriter evidence). He was home free. She could have told the world he was in fact guilty, but double jeopardy laws would have kept him forever free. The intelligent Jack Forrester would have known this and just laughed it off, instead of stupidly trying to kill her.

Not true. He was free of the murder charge, but she still could've gotten him busted for the attempted murder of Julie Jensen, his first victim. She had the typewriter and could've passed it along to the DA.
Unintentional, of course, but at the close of Siskel's review of Jagged Edge, he says he guessed wrong about the ending, as to whether Jeff Bridge's character was guilty or not, and then towards the end of Ebert's review. starting at about 5:54, he says he would not dare give away the ending and then promptly does (Do not watch this if you have not seen the movie and plan to do so). You really should watch the entire review by both gentlemen to appreciate the unfortunate slip. Incidentally, they both love the film and it is a great one. But I do find it interesting that the two reviewers, the director, the editor, nobody caught it. I wonder if they received any flack about it from the studio or anyone associated with the film after this show was shown on television, during those wonderfully innocent, pre-Internet days, when every word wasn't under a constant microscope. Of course, I just became guilty of that myself just now, didn't I.

Jagged Edge was terrific, but I remember other critics trashing it when it got released. The controversy over the final scene of the killer was strange. I had no trouble identifying the person. Sweet Dreams was inferior to Coal Miner's Daughter, but it's still worth a look.
Clifford Shafran Sweet Dreams and Coal Miners Daughter are about two different women. I am partial to Sweet Dreams because I enjoy Patsy Cline over Loretta Lynn. Although, Spacek did a wonderful job with Tommy Lee Jones in CMD.
I prefer Patsy Kline to Loretta Lynn but I thought Coal miner's Daughter was superior in every way. Sometime I felt that Sweet Dreams was rather light and it felt like a parody.
Around 6:30 siskel says something along the lines of, its good to see some black people in the cast, we havent seen that in a movie in awhile. Makes you think how far we've come as a society, this was only about 30 years ago. Nowadays black actors and actresses are upset when no one is nominated for an academy award
Funny thing is, I only remember two. The assistant D.A., who ironically, is made to be the guy most responsible for trying to obstruct the truth, by falsely telling a key witness her being attacked was unrelated to the Forrester case. The other was the mother of Henry Styles, case #26022.
Seen this when I was six one of my many first R-Rated films. Jeff Bridges was a MuthaFucka in this movie but I was Robert Loggia that was the Sam Spade type who save the day.

I am surprised they didn't mention the sloppy continuity problem Jagged Edge had in the one courtroom scene where Glenn Close's suit changed several times. People I knew talked about it at the time.
Would really like to see them review Red Dawn(1984). Wonder what they thought of it, which is a much better movie imo, than Invasion USA. I was surprised to hear the praise for Code Of Silence, which I don't have much memory of.

MST3K ran a 50s film called "Invasion USA" where this guy hypnotizes everyone in a bar to believe that the Russians are invading the USA because something something patriotism something something. Stupid film that just happened to have both Noel Neill and Phyllis Coates - both actresses who played Lois Lane on the 50s Superman TV series -- in it. But every ad I ever saw for the episode announced it was the Chuck Norris film. Weird. Not sure how THAT would have worked on MST3K.

I thought Jagged Edge completely self-destructed at the end. What a disappointing ending. Roger was right they should not have revealed it. Let people make up their mind who it is.

Then cut to Jeff Bridges out horseback riding, stopping by a river bank, takes out of his pocket the typewriter key, and throws into the river. Smiles, and then rides back to the house. Fade to credits.

There was no heartless killer in The Hand That Rocks the Cradle. Rebecca D’s movie husband killed himself and her (unsuccessfully) seeking revenge was to me not an abnormal thing to do.

This was 1985 for Christ’s sake....Eddie Murphy was the biggest star of the day. Not to mention, there was only one significant black role in Jagged Edge and he was reduced to a bumbling, crooked assistant.
Jagged Edge is entertaining, but it’s not the greatest thriller. At its core is a simple story: psychopath murders his wife and plays the woman defending him like a harp.
I’m surprised they overlooked Robert Loggia in Jagged Edge. He got an Oscar nomination.
Man Jeff Bridges he was actually really good looking in the 70s, 80s and 90s. Phenomenal actor too. Jagged Edge one of the finest movies of his career

This is a very gripping film. I was mesmerized by almost every word. The last scene was very climactic.
One of the few films I remember watching in the theater with my paternal GM was Jagged Edge. Loved it. I also saw Sea Of Love with her.

In the movie, the word "bitch" is written in the victim's blood, like "pig" in the Manson killings.
