😮‍💨☀️ The hot weather where I'm located was the inspiration behind this video and I hope everyone is doing okay and making it through this horrible heat!
If you're keeping yourself occupied by reading, or looking for some books to read in the park or on holiday, perhaps some of these dark reads will be up your street.

Those were amazing recommendations! I’m unfamiliar with all of them, but I desperately want them in my hands.

Took your recommendation for Hold Back the Tide. Wow. I loved this. I picked up Lullaby second hand this week too, just started. Fabulous stong beginning. I am going to read all of these. I have already read MSTSK earlier this year and loved that. More dark read suggestions please.

I'm reading that right now as well! I was just thinking that it definitely fits in this category.

I read that years ago and I still think about it from time to time. It’s a story that sticks with you!

Currently reading Salt Lick from your recommendation and really enjoying it! Also read The Starless Sea before that, which was lovely. Next I think I’ll get a copy of Tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow. :)

I saw the French film adaptation of Lullaby recently, it was pretty good, I think it might be slightly different from the novel from your description though.

I had no idea there was a film adaptation, though that totally makes sense. Will go have a look!

@@booksandquills I watched it on iplayer, looks like it is on there for the next 10 months. Confusingly some places call the film Perfect Nanny.
