This guy lives 2 houses down from me and he does infact have psychosis. During this incident he sent one of the women he attacked to the hospital. About two years ago a wellness check was called on him. Three cops went to the door and he came out and pepper sprayed them then attacked them, also sending one of the officers to the hospital. And yes, he was out in no time. Other then those two incidents he usually keeps to himself, however we always skip his house on Halloween.

No, he wasn't. He had no idea what was going on. And he was by himself and that's a big fellow. And he had to stay to do the traffic accident.

As former LEO - I can explain the reasoning for this is the state of anti-police politics since 2008 starting with Barack Obama's "he acted stupidly" - has forced agencies at the administration level to change their polices on de-escalation and apprehension. Incidents with Michael Brown and George Floyd have exasperated the issue even further to the point officers can't fully execute their duties without facing some form of ridicule by either the public or the agency they are employed by.
The suspect actually has psychosis. Them treating him that way is warranted.

It's really unpleasant to have to watch and listen to while it's happening, but, knowing this man is erratic and very dangerous after just threatening to kill the officer talking to him, de-escalation and "understanding" are the best techniques for cops to use, when they can.

Another episode of the Keystone cops. For any well trained police officers who know how to do the job properly, this is just hide behind the couch embarrassing.
I wonder if the firefighters and EMTs ever get sick and tired of having to gear up just to deal with some idiot that is playacting or refuses their services or has a tiny little scratch and is making a big deal out of it. I would find that very frustrating.
One. Suspects that use the hospital, frivolously needs to have that cost added to their charges as restitution.
Two. A lot of criminals are being labeled as having mental disorders, when in actuality, they’re just spoiled brats that grew up.
Three. You don’t have to coddle a criminal in order to de-escalate a situation.
Four. Stop giving privilege to certain people because it is dangerous. Had they restrained the suspect from the beginning, he wouldn’t have been able to steal a car.

Why was that female cop lying on the ground? She could just as easily secured his legs from any other angle, including being upright. And her body cam was blocked by his knee and legs, so there goes that ‘different camera angle’ theory out the window.
