Certainly a combination of everything involved. Yamaha recording customs play a huge part in that, those drums just sound so good through a mic. But I spend a lot of time with tuning as well, and I also EQ them a bit when I’m mixing my drums into the track to make them sound just how I want them.
I transcribe the songs myself! You can’t really find drum books out there unless they come from a licensor (like MTI) when a theater or high school puts on a show.
