I travel just like you, alone with my tent, gear and bike and off pavement as much as possible. I have friends who hotel it everywhere but we don't do long distance trips together much because I like camping by a lake, river or in a farmers field and sometime like to take a day off in a nice location if the weather is nice. I've been riding 50 years and still liking it. You sure had your share of rain on this trip, I remember you saying you were feeling like your getting soft with old age, that is a short lived feeling because you just have to keep riding like it or not. Great adventure and video...thanks!

I'm mostly a solo rider as well. Just got into this sport a few years ago. I watched you videos on the trip to Alaska and Deadhorse. Loved them. Good job. I am planning a trip in the near future to Deadhorse. I was told the Dalton Highway has been upgraded. Now your off to Newfoundland. Awesome. Enjoying every minute of it. Keep up the videos.

Rick, I just sat thru this entire video. I ride around the Fundy National Park where this video began. I enjoyed every second of it. Like all riders I dream of taking long trips but my health is not up to it. Every chance I get I look up videos, but I must say yours is by far the most enjoyable I have seen thus far. Thank you for sharing. I get to see places from a riders' perspective and that's great.

Thank you for this pictures. I did most of this route in september 2017. Few flies, it was rainy and quite cold (14 to 9 celsius). It was not rainy when I drove on dirt roads. I started from Québec City where I live. I have a BMW R1200R. I had no problems. I had a speed ticket on road 510 in the middle of nowhere, and the speed limit is 70 kmh. This is not a joke !!!

oh wow Rick I must say that I truly like your montaging skills, the way you put that video together!! nice style. You have been on some great trips eh? I watched the whole thing and I will be subscribing and watching some more from you. I initially watched it because it was about Nfld. After a few brief moments you cemented my desire to foray into NewFoundLand. It is now on my to-do list. And then while watching, I realized you went on towards Labrador. I was pleasantly surprised because a couple of years ago I went to Labrador on my XR650L and had an amazing experience. Then again while watching I see that you decided to go up to Chisassibi (did I spell it right?) and I was surprised. I guess on a Concours it's a little easier than the bikes I've been travelling on. So I found it very interesting cause two years ago I went up to James Bay on my CRF250L and I was sooo curious to see your adventure up there. Great ride, very good narration and keep going out into the world and exploring. Oh...I almost forgot to mention that I loved seeing the shots of your bike. In 1992 and 1993 I drove my burgundy '86 Concours to California. No GoPro footage though...just pictures. Take care and be safe. A toast to you from the Laurentian Mountains!! (north of Montreal)

    Hi Rick,
Thanks for sharing your wonderful journey with the world! My family and I are inspired by your fantastic roadtrip to northern Canada. Coincidentally we started driving from Cary, NC and are headed to Newfoundland. Currently, we are staying with some family in Moncton, NB. We are taking the ferry tomorrow from N.sydney to Porte Aux Basque and will be spending a week on the island. We already have a plan to drive and stay in Gros Morne, St. Anthony, Twilingate, Bonavista, and St. Johns. Since you rode on a motorcycle, I am sure you were able to find some hidden gems on the island. Please let us know if there are some beautiful places we should not miss!
Thanks again Rick, keep up your adventures!

    • @ricksandyfox
      @ricksandyfox  8 лет назад

It sounds like you are going to some of the best places to visit. I didn't get to see it all of course, but while you are in the St. Johns area, you might as well take your picture at Cape Spear, the easternmost point in North America.
In Bonavista, drive to the lighthouse and see the puffin colony.
In Gros Morne, I HIGHLY recommend a side trip (easy hike) to the boat ride at Western Brook Pond. The spectacular cliffs and waterfalls were the highlight of my entire trip. I don't think there is comparable grandeur east of the Rockies. (You can get tickets at the Pond's Visitor Center/gift shop, and not drive all the way back to Rocky Harbour like I did.) Enjoy your trip!!

    Epic Trip!
Well documented, good cinematography and great music. I have always liked the Concours and that will probably be my next bike. I have ridden coast to coast many times on a 1995 Triumph Trophy 1200. Similar to your Concourse, but not set up for long distance comfort like the Concourse is.
    Thanks for the documentary!
    Aloha!

  • @alnbaba

I did the Trans Labrador highway a couple of times years ago when it was all gravel some areas the stone was the size of a large spud. If you like dust and potholes, freezing rain and possibly snow even in the summer feel free and take the ride. I drove a 150 miles without seeing another soul, so if you get into trouble be prepared to wait around. Its real easy to go off the road and some spots are raised 40 feet off the marsh with no guard rails. I blew 2 tires each trip, lost half the exhaust at the flange, and put a 10 inch crack in the frame of my truck. If you like white knuckle driving with plenty of danger and little to see this is the trip for you. And when you take a break the black flies drain you of your blood for good measure. To top it off fuel, food and hotels are damn expensive the farther you go north and what they call hotels won't appeal to many.

Rick, I admire your work. I watched your Alaskan dalton highway, Rick’s West Trip, and now this one. Going to all these places solo, camping, making great distances, and finding a time to make all these shots is a remarkable work. Also, your movie composition, scene duration, straight comments, and scenery music are truthful and solid set documentary. You've done it all alone on the same level as British "Long Way Around" fully funded professionally produced documentary. It puzzles me why US Hollywood big shots are so lost in their fake dramatization realty show documentaries, while you as "an amateur" video traveller covered this US gap and without any intention, put a shame on all of them. Rick .. you rock!

Hi Rick! Awesome video! I really enjoyed your Alaska video series. I watched them, along with many others before I did my solo Key West to Prudhoe Bay and back solo moto trip on my Vstrom 650 last summer. I put a video on you tube about that also but it's junk compared to your stuff. I've been on a lot of other trips around North America also (right now I'm at 45 states and 4 provinces). I just found this video as I am researching doing the Trans Labrador Highway, the Maritime Provinces and the James Bay Highway if I can squeeze it in. That will be next year, this year I'm staying closer to home and hitting the Blue Ridge Parkway with a friend in September. I love your videos and your dry wit as well. Keep em coming and Ride Safe Brother!

Inspiring trip video. Great job! A follow up video with description of all the costs for each trip would be really informative-gas, lodging, food, fares, miscellaneous. Would love to hear you comment on the trip overall. What was most memorable, challenges, disappointments, what you would do differently so on.

Ballsy taking the Trans Lab on via Concours. I did it on my WR250R back in 2019. Not sure if I'd do it again on such a small bike. Some places it was great, others, well. It was a long time from A to B.

Really enjoyed your use of local music. It really set the mood.
BTW, check out the music of Joan Morrissey, it is very humorous Newfy music.

I enjoyed your trips Rick. My favorite is your west trip. Don't care for the washboard , pothole mud/gravel/powder roads you took up North. Me and a friend did some horrible dirt roads in South Dakota in the Badlands. It was only 24 miles and it was so bad , that is shook a couple of bulbs to failure on my Vision and my friends wheel bearing failed not 10 miles after that rough dirt and it broke his saddlebag bracket on his Harley. I know that road considerably shortened the life of his bearing. I suspect all that bad unpaved road you took prematurely killed your wheel bearing too. Anyway, thank you for sharing your trips. I'm a happy subscriber.

LOL... at least they didn't try to call it 5-Star in Ottowa. I think I stayed in the sister to that place in Anchorage, AK (downtown) once. When I went to check in, they asked me if I wanted to look at the bathroom. LOL... yeah... it was bad. A metal shower pan/stall which was nothing but rust (literally).
